He'd already thrown the Chief of Police under the bus. The tally to taxpayers for all this will be huge and nothing was achieved.

Before they finally turned around to go back to the hotel, one LE officer said he had told them 3 times they were not allowed in the area.
In my opinion, it is dangerous for two females to be on the streets around Ferguson between 1 AM and 2 AM.
 
I apologize to all for not believing there was a presser tonight. I believe you now. Because so many of you saw it. Sorry. I guess tomorrow there will be a video of it I can watch.

This event raises many emotions in a lot of us I think. Trying to quell my own-for common sense reasons etc.

Starry Night - since many of us are writing from different time zones sometimes it is early in the AM and referred to as night - no worries.

Chris Hayes must believe that he's all-seeing. If he didn't see it, it didn't happen, according to him, I guess.

Maybe if he spent more time actually watching what's going on instead of burying his face in his phone tweeting, he just might see more.

Besides, a lot of what happened was apparently on another street, I think.

It irks me when these reporters claim that something didn't happen just because they didn't see it.
 
On CNN World News Tonight they had 3 stories, lumped together. They showed the fighting in Ukraine and some bloody soldiers among some wreckage. Then they went to IRAQ, and the violent fight with ISIS over the dam near Kirkuk. And then slid right into the 'racial violence in the USofA'in Ferguson, Missouri. They said it is calm now because of a curfew being enforced.

So sad to see us lumped in with the battles in Iraq and Ukraine.

ABC News about Chief Jackson: "Jackson spent more than 30 years with the St. Louis County Police Department before taking over the 53-officer force in Ferguson, a mostly black city of 21,000, four years ago. While working for St. Louis County, he led a drug task force and was also a SWAT team supervisor, airplane and helicopter instructor pilot, undercover detective and hostage negotiator."

It did LadyL..but I went to a news station referenced in the livelink before I watched the vid and couldn't find the presser there.. I really can't tell you how ignorant I feel. Thanks for your mighty effort to correct me lol.
 
at the very end of his 1am presser Capt Johnson said he had participated in a teleconference with the Chief of the St Louis County PD, the Chief of the St Louis City PD, and Colonel *somebody* and the Governor. since he was recounting the night's events in chronological order, it seems that this occurred following the numerous molotov cocktails thrown and shots fired at LEOs, the construction of barricades by protesters, McDonald's employees locking themselves in the storage room after their location was overrun, and the summoning of LEOs from other jurisdictions

so it does seem that the Gov could/should have mentioned to Johnson that he was authorizing the NG

dirty deeds, done dirt cheap IMO

I always thought it was so odd that they would transfer all the power/responsibilty for the civil unrest to the captain of THE HIGHWAY PATROL? :waitasec: The Highway Patrol, at least here in Cali, rarely gets involved with any civil unrest type situations. They patrol the highways and freeways and don't get too involved in other types of crimes/emergencies.

I think Johnson is doing a great job however. He was picked for his ability to lead the community and gain their trust as well as the ability to oversee the big picture each night. I hope he comes out of this better rather than worse.
 
Here in Missouri the Highway Patrol do more than work the highways. They have investigators, a water division, drug and crime, research and development. Not sure if thats all of the divisions but at least some. They back up local law enforcement in every county in the state. I believe a couple I saw a couple troopers in the video right after the shooting. They often get called in to investigate other agency when necessary. Captain Johnson is the commander of troop C. It covers 11 counties. My opinion is that he hasn't been in the field for quite sometime so he is seeing what his troops are up against. Oh and they do work the highways too. The rural counties depend on them a lot for resources and backup.
 
That's ok. It is likely to be a big topic of discussion.
