If they were to hurt/kill D. Wilson --- that shows they are no better than the police they so dislike.
Wilson needs to be dealt with in the manner of DUE PROCESS ; if he did something wrong or overstepped his boundaries in the line of duty.
We have laws in this country for a reason. If people don't like it and want vigilante/mob justice ; they can go live in some country that is lawless and chaotic.
:moo:

Where's the outrage over the shooting last night????
Where's the chant for justice?
Where are all the witnesses to THAT shooting?

Claiming a desire for "justice" while being law breakers and criminals is just stupid and counter-productive!

It was released because of multiple FOIA requests. Apparently, there is no exemption that applied to the release of this information. So I am not understanding why Capt Johnson or anyone felt the need to criticize the release, why address it at all imo. (robbery video)

Because it seems IMO.
Everyone is whipping theirs out to see whose is bigger.

Reminds me of Boulder & the JonBenet Ramsey case.

Some feel he should have waited until a court injunction issued told him to release it. Those who opposed it was due to it being inflammatory and would ignite the embers burning..

Which is did..

Trying to offer this video up as a reason to justify the officers actions, is why people are outraged. Only if you live in Ferguson as an African American could anyone really grasp their anger...is my belief.

The embers were already ignited and being fanned by those trying to portray the victim as some kind of saint when the video was released. Trying to portray the officer's actions as unjustified isn't working all that well right now due to the release of the video.....at least to the rest of the world. I think those in Ferguson are choosing their own version of reality.

The looters, arsonists etc (other than peaceful protests) are opportunists imo and at this point don't care a bit about MB or what the truth may be. Maybe it's naive, but I think most people want the truth of the matter, whichever way credible facts lead. However, the "snitches need stitches" graffiti seems to indicate others in the community think differently about what "truth" means and comes across as threatening for people to keep quiet. But, my heart goes out to MB's mom, store-owners and community members who want a civil community, not the young lads looting and acting like domestic terrorists.

If it turns out to be true that MB was charging the police, it seems like a very aggressive and taunting move from MB imo and makes me wonder if this is suicide by cop. Or if MB maybe was not in the right frame of mind (intoxicated). It will be interesting to see how facts play out and MB was charging police I wonder if they'll look into his mental history for depression etc. The autopsy reports will at least clear up some of the conflicting accounts. All imo and speculation.

So leading the public to believe he was on a leisurely stroll to granny's house and gunned down for no reason is a narrative that would quell the violence?

The Truth is always better, IMO

Question: Does anyone think that the initial interaction between Brown and Wilson most likely occurred where Mike's red St. Louis Cardinal baseball hat lays in the street in the picture in this link? I'd like to hear from both sides, those who think the cop was justified and those who don't. Please and thanks!

Yes I do. Didn't the friend say he ran and hid behind some cars? Where are they?

Who is "most people?". I honestly do not think the protestors or the looters want the truth. They enjoy acting out for their own reasons which have nothing to do with the truth.

Most of the rest of the country does want the truth however.

Re: Black Panther Group Years ago they were credited with starting the free school lunch program. The newbies need to get back to doing more productive things with their time.

The old school Black Panthers have publicly denounced the "New Black Panthers".
"principals of the original Black Panther Party of the 1960s and 1970s— a militant, but non-racist, left-wing organization — have rejected the new Panthers as a "black racist hate group" and contested their hijacking of the Panther name and symbol." (http://www.splcenter.org/get-informed/intelligence-files/groups/new-black-panther-party)

also from that link...
The New Black Panther Party is a virulently racist and anti-Semitic organization whose leaders have encouraged violence against whites, Jews and law enforcement officers. ...

"I hate white people. All of them. Every last iota of a cracker, I hate it. We didn't come out here to play today. There's too much serious business going on in the black community to be out here sliding through South Street with white, dirty, cracker *advertiser censored* *****es on our arms, and we call ourselves black men. … What the hell is wrong with you black man? You at a doomsday with a white girl on your damn arm. We keep begging white people for freedom! No wonder we not free! Your enemy cannot make you free, fool! You want freedom? You going to have to kill some crackers! You going to have to kill some of their babies!"
— King Samir Shabazz, head of the party's Philadelphia chapter, in a National Geographic documentary, January 2009

This seems to be quite in line with their thinking. They have many other ideologies which I won't even go into as they are equally distasteful. I do not think the New Black Panthers have anything helpful to contribute in any way, shape or form.

Some fool is on a panel on CNN stating that white dead people aren't left for hours laying and then shuttled away in a coroners vehicle ...he said a "shady SUV"

Where oh where do they gets these ignorant people from and allow them to speak as if they have a clue????

However, later in the day Police Chief Tom Jackson said that incident had nothing to do with Brown later getting stopped and shot by officer Darren Wilson. Jackson went on record by saying, “The initial contact between Darren Wilson and Mike Brown was not related to the alleged theft of cigars.” Jackson went on to say that Wilson had no idea that Brown was even a suspect in the robbery and that the reason for the initial confrontation was simply due to Brown blocking traffic.

The only person who that can be is Mike Brown's mother. A mother who knows her child isn't perfect but is all she has.

I don't know about anyone else but death of a child with tragic circumstances shatters your heart. I know due to my only brother being murdered in cold blood and no one is brought to justice. 31 years later, I'm still trying for justice, his case is a cold unsolved one. My brother didn't deserve to die like some rabid animal in the streets..

Until one is a victim of murder, one doesn't know the heartache and pain...

"We certainly were not happy with that being released, especially in the way that it was," Nixon said. "It appeared to cast dispersions on a young man that was gunned down in the street. It made emotions raw."

The governor went on to say that the renewed unrest in Ferguson, the St. Louis suburb where Brown was killed by a police officer, was in part due to the police's decision to make public the details of the robbery. Nixon declared a state of emergency and imposed a curfew Saturday that led to clashes between a small group of protesters and police.

On NBC's "Meet the Press," Nixon reiterated his disapproval of the decision to release the video.

"To attempt to in essence disparage the character of this victim in the middle of a process is not right. It’s just not right," he said. "And secondarily, it did put the community, and quite frankly the region and the nation, on alert again. These are old wounds. These are deep wounds in these communities. And that action was not helpful."

Nixon said he spoke to Ferguson police about the release of the video, but didn't say if there would be any punitive actions taken.
"We’ve had very serious discussions about that action and how much we thought that it was not the right way to handle the victim’s family," Nixon said, adding that he met with Brown's family. "They were deeply troubled, and when you see your son gunned down in the street and then you see a police chief begin an attempt to attack his character, that’s just not the way to operate."

Glad to hear Governor Nixon speak out about the handling of this video..

Seems the Chief did as he wanted and didn't listen to the higher ups...damn shame

I think the peaceful protestors and the looters are miles apart in what they want out of everything that's transpired. I would hope that if it turns out the that the police shooting is justified that most rational people will accept it. But I think the dust has to settle a little bit.

Need a better link. When I clicked that I got two people with very odd accents talking about creating new clay pieces.

LOL LOL LOL You must have gotten whatever program is live right now. The legal discussion is Monday at noon central. (oooh, scary, accents in the great "melting pot")......JMO

Fwiw, I saw in an article yesterday, (sorry, can't find which one), that Officer Wilson's SO is LE also. Someone else may recall seeing that.

Wilson now lives in Crestwood, a quiet middle class and almost entirely white suburb of St Louis in a ranch style house with a pool out the back.
According to public records he got divorced last year and moved into his current home with his new girlfriend.

This irks me. Why is it relevant that he lives in a predominantly Caucasian neighborhood? So do I, but that's because the City of Chicago tends to be broken down into ethnic groups and areas. I live in the area that's populated by mainly the Irish...however, just a few blocks away is an almost entirely African American area.

I don't understand why it's brought up, that his area is mainly white. Why is the racial aspect brought up? What would have happened, if a black cop shot him? I don't understand the media focus on him having a pool, living in a white area, etc. It's simply to fan the flames imo
