At one point, Defense Attorney Patrick Berrigan and Greene County Prosecutor Dan Patterson argued at the bench over the merit of the writings being introduced into evidence.
Berrigan laughed quietly at one of the cases Patterson cited.
"I don't think this is anything to laugh about," Patterson said.
"Those are child sex cases," replied Berrigan.
"This is a child sex case," Patterson said.
When Berrigan asked if there were any specific names used in the stories, the agent replied that one story had an individual named "Hailey.”
In that moment there was total silence in the courtroom.

It sounds like Berrigan has NO idea about what is going on in this case. Does anyone know if he is appointed or retained?
Wow I'm actually sitting here crying my eyes out right now. Again. I think this one is just too tough for me. It has an eerie similarity to something that happened to my best friend when I was a child. Right down to the defense attorney and his... Questionable... behavior. As his sentence was carried out I actually felt a thousand pounds of weight lift from my chest.
Now as a mother it's all just too much. There is an amazing child taken in most cruel of ways and countless other life's destroyed or irreparably changed. It's just too much.
Just lock him up now. Latest article I could find.

Never mind , he is locked up. I had a different ending in mind. How do you spell needle?

Aww, the poor guy. Someone apparently forced him to drink alcohol, and bothered him so badly that he was not in fighting trim when he talked to LE. That is a cryin' shame, isn't it folks?? IMO, this man had already killed and violated that innocent and terrified little girl before the Amber Alert was even issued. Should we give this poor man a break???Grrrrr.
