No words for the intense dislike I have for Berrigan at this moment.

At one point, Defense Attorney Patrick Berrigan and Greene County Prosecutor Dan Patterson argued at the bench over the merit of the writings being introduced into evidence.

Berrigan laughed quietly at one of the cases Patterson cited.

"I don't think this is anything to laugh about," Patterson said.

"Those are child sex cases," replied Berrigan.

"This is a child sex case," Patterson said.

When Berrigan asked if there were any specific names used in the stories, the agent replied that one story had an individual named "Hailey.”

In that moment there was total silence in the courtroom.

And what kind of freaking case does he think this is?

A precious girl is dead. He was laughing. :banghead: I'm with you. No words!!

Holy s#*#! Sickening, how could someone laugh? Seriously? Unbelievable. That has really angered me :banghead:

I still have the candle in my window with your name on it Hailey, you will always be remembered, RIP :rose:

It sounds like Berrigan has NO idea about what is going on in this case. Does anyone know if he is appointed or retained?

Wow I'm actually sitting here crying my eyes out right now. Again. I think this one is just too tough for me. It has an eerie similarity to something that happened to my best friend when I was a child. Right down to the defense attorney and his... Questionable... behavior. As his sentence was carried out I actually felt a thousand pounds of weight lift from my chest.

Now as a mother it's all just too much. There is an amazing child taken in most cruel of ways and countless other life's destroyed or irreparably changed. It's just too much.

I'm sick after reading the amended indictment. Poor baby girl. He did all of that in a very short time frame. Evil truly walks among us.

It is my opinion that he knows the facts of the case, the overwhelming nature of the physical/forensic evidence and the entirety of the insurmountable hill he has to climb.

He is not going to gain any sympathy for his client with stunts like he pulled with that bit of showmanship but I have tried to imagine how one would go about defending the indefensible.

I loath what he is doing but I get that he really has no defense to offer for this man.

MOO I hope the judge is very watchful for appellate issues in the making.

Wow, what a lawyer.

It's a death penalty state yes? Such evil should never see daylight again.

Just lock him up now. Latest article I could find.

Never mind , he is locked up. I had a different ending in mind. How do you spell needle?

From this link / BBM:
"Several pornographic photos were also found in the folder containing those handwritten pages and the schedules of two students from Pleasant View Middle School. Pleasant View is the school where Woods was a football coach and teachers aide up until the time he was arrested. "

I don't believe in the DP, but for this case I might change my mind.

An attorney for the man accused of kidnapping and killing Hailey Owens has asked for a change of venue. The motion states because of media coverage the "citizens of Greene County are prejudiced against the defendant"...

Prosecutor Dan Patterson has filed a a denial of the reasons of the motions, and expects that a hearing date for the change of venue will be set during an August pretrial conference.

I hope it is granted because I don't want appeals getting in the way of this man paying in spades for what he did.

But it is not the press that has the entire county prejudiced against him - MOO its his despicable crime against a beautiful little girl who was robbed as was her family of her future.

Accused killer of Hailey Owens wants statements thrown out

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -
An attorney for a Springfield man suspected of kidnapping and killing a 10-year-old girl want statements he made to police after his arrest to be suppressed.

Attorney Patrick Berrigan writes in court documents that Craig Michael Wood was suffering from intoxication, emotional turmoil and psychological instability when he was arrested in February in the death of Hailey Owens.

Aww, the poor guy. Someone apparently forced him to drink alcohol, and bothered him so badly that he was not in fighting trim when he talked to LE. That is a cryin' shame, isn't it folks?? IMO, this man had already killed and violated that innocent and terrified little girl before the Amber Alert was even issued. Should we give this poor man a break???

He speaks of suffering and turmoil? Pfft.... Nevermind the victim, right?

I hope the change of venue is granted. It won't make a difference in the end. Verdict will be the same.
