This is getting more disgusting every day that goes by and no sign of Jessica. I agree the crime occurred between leaving the party and before he went to work the very next morning. I know many have discounted the theory he would've used a dumpster for disposal. It may be a crazy idea, but garbage truck pickups and where they go should be looked into just to be sure.

I agree that the media needs to keep Jessica's name out there, but only for that purpose. Show her posters, give information on the Sunday search efforts so that those who want to get involved and don't have access to social media know where to meet. That's not really being done though. Yes, her name is out there, but most of what I've seen from the KC area media outlets is sensationalism, made to satiate people's curiosity. We don't really need the wording of the warrants that were executed over a month ago, we don't need live chopper footage of the official searches from KCTV5. That news outlet in particular made the warrant info and the searches seem related. It gives false hope when the media plays up info already known to investigators like it's new. I know it gave me false hope, I can't image what it did for people in Jessica's family who are not in direct communication with police and investigators. Jessica's mother stated herself on fb she's not reporting on the media postings simply because those reports are putting her family through new hell by giving false hope. Drumming up a public witch hunt and creating false hope for the purpose of maintaining viewership is not going to help bring Jessica home.

I don't think it's a crazy idea, and it shouldn't be discounted. A secluded dumpster on a dark night would be an easily accessible place for an intoxicated man looking to get rid of a body.

Thank you for clarifying that Scout - it did sound like they had a NEW warrant, even though the quotes were oddly similar. I am glad they reported that LE has been at it weekly - that is important because before now it seemed like the family was being left to do it. But I agree, if there is actually no new information, why start reporting on searches now, an why that particular one? I wish for the family's sake that Rick Ptacek would still cover this, even though he isn't in KC anymore.

To noodle on the dumpster theory, do trucks have digital scales in MO? Typically they have very exacting weights to help the drivers know if there is something unusual about the bin content before compacting, and to calculate the charges.

I don't believe we are that sophisticated in this area. Normal dumpster pickups here are charged on a scheduled pickup basis...mostly weekly. Yes, large items are subject to a separate charge but the extra charge is due to them NOT fitting in the dumpster thereby requiring extra handling. Not sure what procedures exist at the landfill side of things. Would think any dumpsters out there that were not "abandoned" would have been picked up several times over and taken to the landfill.

I did look at some construction site dumpsters since a lot of new home development work is going on along the Holmes road area. Those would typically stay at work site until full then the construction foreman would call to have them picked up at that time. The ones I looked at were much taller than a normal dumpster and not covered. Basically you have to throw stuff into them (lumber, pipe, etc) from the ground. I had to literally climb up one just to look down into it. Decided it would probably be too difficult for one person to put someone in a dumpster of that type.

I was aslo just thinking that Ptacek should be on this, and there's also a homicide detective who's name I can't remember right now I feel like would be good just for his expertise. I think he solved something like almost 400 homicides, could be wrong about that though. Joe Kenda? Not sure. Ptacek posts about the case on his fb page, but beyond linking articles and asking for answers, I'm not sure to what extent he's involved.

Our trash pickup is scheduled the same here. They pick up once a week and then drive to the local dump. I assume they pay by the ton at the dump, or at least any time we've every been we've paid by the ton and there's a minimum dumping charge.

Regarding the construction dumpsters (roll offs). They have doors/gates on one end to allow them to be dumped, so you can actually walk right inside them. My work office and my husband's construction sites both use them regularly and I've never seen one without the end doors. Super handy when moving big stuff that can't be easily tossed over.

This is the second (that we know of) disappearance of a young female that he has been involved in, both times with no trace of the girl. Are there any abandoned mines in the area?

The Missouri Department of Natural Resources abandoned mine shafts and abandoned mine lands map doesn't show anything for the area. The closest lands look to be in Calhoun, Missouri, about an hour or so away from KCMO and the mines situated to the far eastern part of the state and in the south. http://www.dnr.mo.gov/mapviewer/abandoned_mine_lands.html This link shows active mines for the state: http://active-mines.findthedata.com/d/d/Missouri

Yes, unless something else has happened between then and now. From what I understand, the courts are trying to get a handle on the media presence. We may not get much info today. Believe today's appearance is for a pretrial hearing.

It was on the news this morning that he'll be appearing in court this afternoon. I don't think we'll know much unless something really big happens.

MGS glad to see ya in the thread :great: not aware of minds but there does seem to be caves in the area and plenty of parks and wooded areas.

We need to think creatively - this guy is sure that no one will find these bodies. He comes across as arrogant; so if one were in that area, where could you hide a body where no one would find it? I don't know how much time he had to prep (like adding weights, etc), and if he was drunk that really adds another dimension to it. How far can an average guy carry or drag someone weighing 120lbs?

It is hard to guess because we have a lot more creativity regarding dump sites than he probably does, even if he was a fan of Criminal Minds. If it were me, I would have driven several hours south into the wilderness, found a good patch of land, and buried her, then covered it with as much debris as possible. Buried bodies are the ones seldom ever found. I might also think about an abandoned building where I could torch the body without the flames drawing much notice - somewhere without surrounding human habitat where the smell could draw attention. Now would I be able to think of this at a moments notice after sponaneously killing someone in a drunken rage? Probably not. I would revert to my familiar patterns, or think immediately of where I left Kara, because that was obviously successful. OR I would dump her in one of the rivers, because it is the fastest, easiest and most likely to destroy evidence. I think Ky might go for burning or water before burial. - Digging a hole takes effort someone who is drunk may not want to deal with. JMO

This episode of 20/20 was mentioned on fb - it aired September 9th. It has a segment about a mother who was murdered in Colorado in 2007 - her body wasn't found until 2012. Her car was burned as a means of destroying evidence. Lead investigators on the case state in the episode that arson is an efficient means of destroying evidence. I just wonder if Kylr didn't somehow have access to thi. 20/20 airs in the KC area Fridays at 9 pm, so it would have aired at least possibly a couple of hours before he burned the car. http://abc.go.com/shows/2020/episode-guide/2016-09/09-090916-Slain-Colorado-Escort-Mom-Case A mistrial was declared in her case at the beginning of September this year due to a deadlocked jury...http://abc.go.com/shows/2020/episode-guide/2016-09/09-090916-Slain-Colorado-Escort-Mom-Case

I've tried to keep up with all this as much as anyone. Went way back to old links last night and found this. For me it was an 'oh my god' moment, but maybe it's just me that missed it. So, in printed part of story you will see that k.y. grandfather states that j.r.'s car had been there a lot over the weeks leading up to her disappearance. One aspect of this mystery that has always bothered me is this. When they left the party, with her driving (possibly she became the driver after a minor wreck leaving the party),he is upset, she is upset. I always felt she would have had a drop off point in mind to get rid of him. That was based on early dialogue that led me to believe she had no ties with him and was basically doing a favor for the boyfriend by taking him to the party. If that was true, I figured she wanted rid of him fast. Now, keep in mind the statements grampa makes of the two being friends, and her car being there often. I didn't know what to make of that. Did he lie, is his memory shot? I didn't know. Now, watch the crime watch video about halfway down. I was floored. Turns out crimewatch reporter came to Grampas house to do a story on Kara, which was several weeks or months before Jessica disappeared. It finally aired within days of her disappearance. The reporter didn't make a connection at the time, but as she walks up to his house, there is the black equinox, j.rs presumably, and the reporter and gramps have a through the door talk. At one point, a young female tries to insert herself into the conversation. Grampa intervenes, and you never really see her. Form your own opinion. Long story short, Grampas story combined with video of her car in his drive months prior gives a pretty good indication that there was some kind of fairly lengthy relationship going on between them. And seeing that she knew the house and apparently felt comfortable there makes me think that would have been the place she would have planned to take him after the party. If you read the text and watch the video, and you believe that a viable conclusion, then it doesn't solve anything, but certainly adds
many avenues to pursue. One big one for me would be if there was this semi-hidden relationship that we know nothing about, he might have had plenty of time to form some kind of obsession for her, and I have to wonder if he didn't already have some kind of plan ready just in case things didn't go his way. Drawing from his past, I can easily see that.
