The Jackson County Medical Examiner's Office received laboratory analysis, which was conducted by the FBI.
"I have received both the mitochondrial DNA and nuclear DNA reports from the FBI for the unidentified skeleton recovered in Cass County. Both reports indicate the remains are that of Kara Elise Kopetsky." Diane C. Peterson, MD Jackson County Chief Medical Examiner.

Wow. My thoughts are with her family. Now, it is time for LE to get this scum and put him away forever.

I am in tears. Happiness for her family, and also grief that everything we feared has come to pass. I will never forget Kara and Jessica.

Now the gloves are off. I expect charges to be brought against Kylr very soon, and I hope it's capital murder.

Exactly how I feel.

Rest easy Kara .

So happy to see her identified. I am glad her family can come to some sort of peace. And I hope he is sweating bullets. I can't say what I want to about him because it shouldn't get past the filters. I hope that smug grin is gone.

Finally we are on the road to justice these girls have deserved and Kara is home.

Amen. The anguish of a missing child haunts me. I'm glad that chapter can be closed.

Rest in Peace sweet Kara. Sending prayers and hugs to all those that loved you.

I believe MO has the death penalty ?
Although it would be fine by me if KY spends the rest of his rotten life in prison.

Rest in gentle peace, beautiful Kara and Jessica !!!!!

Glad to finally see this. RIP Kara and Jessica.

Just saw this update. What we were waiting for, sadly not what we all wanted, but was expected never the less.

2 angels.

KY - I have no (allowable) words yet. I hate him

Yes, Missouri has the death penalty. The case will need to pass some qualifiers for that to be on the table, but he could potentially get it or life without parole depending on what he's charged with.

I'm adding some links below for reference if anyone's interested in the legal aspect and how this could play out in Missouri...

Changes to Missouri's Criminal Code: http://www.stltoday.com/news/local/...cle_b802765c-b6d1-5806-a2dd-b9ba36f1eb60.html

Death Penalty Law: http://statelaws.findlaw.com/missouri-law/missouri-capital-punishment-laws.html

First Degree Murder: Class A Felony - 10 to 30 years or life in prison, or death penalty http://statelaws.findlaw.com/missouri-law/missouri-first-degree-murder.html

Second Degree: Class A Felony - 10 to 30 years or life in prison http://statelaws.findlaw.com/missouri-law/missouri-second-degree-murder.html

Voluntary Manslaughter: Class B Felony - 5 to 15 years and a fine of up to $5,000 http://statelaws.findlaw.com/missouri-law/missouri-voluntary-manslaughter-law.html (God willing KY gets a higher charge than this, but including here because it could potentially be added by the prosecution as a lesser included charge if they go for second or first degree murder)

Missouri Sentencing Laws: http://www.mosac.mo.gov/page.jsp?id=45441

Note that the court will also take into consideration KY's prior record at sentencing and can add additional years onto his sentence because he has a prior felony conviction. Plus, he doesn't really have a lot of really nice mitigating factors, so that will play into it too. The same can happen when he goes to court in October for burning Jessica's vehicle.

I think they'll be taking a big risk if they charge him with capital murder. I don't think the evidence is strong enough to get a death penalty conviction. Jurors have a hard time putting someone to death.

I think it will be a risk as well. Heck, even in cases where there are massive amounts of DNA evidence it's a risk. Juries have to be death penalty qualified for those cases, but there's always the chance of some bleeding heart social justice warrior lying their way onto the jury in an attempt to skew the results. It's happened before. But Missouri juries have sent people to death row before. And we also don't really know what law enforcement has on KY. They could have DNA evidence, they could have fibers, blood, clothing evidence, witnesses to his behavior, someone he spilled his guts to, someone who has opened up on him to LE...no one really knows for sure. I really think that the case will get a change of venue. There's too many in the general local area who know this case and have followed it since the day Kara disappeared, and would like nothing more than to send KY to the executioner. I can already see the years of appeals down the road if KY can claim he wasn't granted a fair trial due to media interference, or the inability to find a fair jury. Good Lord, it's going to be some long years for this to get resolved. :banghead:

Incredible news. I'm so happy Kara has been found and can be given a proper burial, along with Jessica. I hope this locks up Kylr for life, at least.

I read in an article a while back that he confessed to killing Kara to a (now) ex-girlfriend but he claimed it was drunken bs. I'll try to find the article.

"Katelynn Farris, another one of Kylr’s ex-girlfriends stated:

“He basically opened up to me and told me that they had been dating and that he really did love her and she basically explained to him that she didn’t want to be with him anymore, and he said he kind of just freaked out,” said Farris, reports*Crime Watch Daily. “Things got a little physical and the next thing he knew is she wasn’t breathing.”

Katelynn has also told the above story to Kara’s family and the authorities."
