The only problem with that is that we haven't had ANY rain in weeks! Most everything would still be where it dropped. Our storm and sewer are separate here. That is why when you see shots here, all of the yards look brownish! It's not a neighborhood that has irrigation systems installed for the most part (can't think of any at the moment) and most have just given in to the fall die-back happening. We had a really hot, dry summer on top of that.

Ok, then maybe the manholes are sewer and not storm drain? Are they thinking maybe someone flushed the phones and hoping they see them floating in the sumps? Is there anything written on the covers?

Did the dad say there were 9 individuals or about 9 individuals?

I ask because I think that 9 is a very specific number, as though each person included in the group of 9 has been carefully considered as suspect. If the dad had said "about 5" or "around 10" then I would think that it was an estimate... like in the Lauren Spierer case, LE said there were around 10 POIs, but said the number was fluid.

If the dad said that there were 9 possibilities, IMO it seems that he may have fairly good reasons to suspect these specific 9 people.

Whew! Think I finally caught up on the marathon thread skim. Searching the areas close to the house, knowing cell phones are missing, and having a neighbor witness a diaper clad toddler in a man's arms outside at midnight (when the baby was put to sleep clothed)-makes me think they are scouring for ANYTHING not native to the area-if the baby was stripped outside, the clothes had to go somewhere. Not all cells are equipped with GPS and pings only get you so close--(they still never found Brittney Drexels missing cell despite active pings). Usually a good dog can find anything "man-made" in the woods, but they've moved on without, soooo.....

I'd still guess they are looking for the pjs or phones. It is an odd situation-keep shakin' the tree, eventually the nuts will start to fall out....

That's what I wondered early on when I first read his statement about not being able to call 911. If I didn't have a landline, I'd sleep with my cell. He's out working all night...what if he needed me or I needed him?

But, to each their own, I suppose.

All 3 phones were in the same place on the kitchen counter according to the mom.

I wish we had a floor plan or a better description of the lay out of the house. The idea of someone crawling into a window or walking into someone's home to kidnap a baby is extremely bold and to add to the fact that they may have walked around the house seems waaay to comfortable for a stranger committing a kidnapping.

:fireworks: Welcome to all the newbies! It is really great to have you all here!! :fireworks:

I hate to be a negatice Nancy but does this strike anyone else as odd. If he was just getting home from work, wouldn't he have taken a cell phone with him? Wouldn't at least one of the phones been in the room with mom, or if the boys had phones wouldn't they have had them in their room?? I know my niece practically sleeps with hers. I pretty sure they weren't all in the room with baby Lisa, so the kidnapper would have walked around the whole house picking up cell phones and no one heard anything???

IMO if he had his own cell, it would go in the truck to work. And even if he had a work cell that he left @ the office or on truck, his personal is still in the truck. To generalize, I know alot of guys that do service/labor work. They have company cell that's always on them when on the clock. That phone gets plugged in once home cause they r off the clock but boss can still reach them. The personal cells are always being used while driving or taking a break. I do find it odd that his would be left home.
In my home & those of people I know, everyone's phone charger's are all over. My husband & I have an outlet on each side of our bed & our phones r either (under my pillow, I know bad) or right next to the bed, within reach. In case of emergency. Just MO.

I have often wondered during my time on Lisa's threads, what exactly would have happened should someone have awoken and seen/interrupted the perp. The brazeness would certainly suggest the perp did not really care if that ocurred. The BBM is the worst case scenerio of the many possibilities and just made me shudder to think of it.

But the thing is -- how did the perp know that the family didn't have a gun? Maybe they didn't know, or maybe the family did have a gun, and the perp was just taking a chance.

So now we know the window tampered with went into an office, not Lisa's room. And 3 phones were stolen along with baby Lisa?

I think the perp left using the front door. Which may explain why dogs are not tracking anything coming from the window.

Eating Reading Thinking- Wonder why Jeremy didn't first go check on Deborah?

Morning (afternoon) everyone - about to watch the parents on Megyn Kelly's show on Fox -first time I'll have seen the parents -- I was just saying to hubby that the Susan Smith case year's ago makes you think twice about everyone involved whenever something like this happens - this is a strange one - heartbreaking for sure.

I always check on my boys first if I am home late- before my husband. My boys are my priority (sorry hubs, love you honey lol) and I figure I will see my husband when I go to bed.

snipped:

Jeremy Irwin, Lisa’s father, told local media that whoever took his daughter also took all three of their cell phones so they couldn’t call anybody, including 911.

Wow! Interesting developments today!!

How does the father KNOW this?? It seems to be more of an assumption. The perp could have just noticed the phones on the way out the front door and snatched them to sell for cash. How would the perp know there was no landline? :waitasec:

Yes, I have read that it was just the 5 year old, and also that both boys were with mom.IMO, if both boys were with mom, it sounds like this was a planned sleeping arrangement, not that both boys woke up and came into her room. Unless they were both up after she went to bed,and she went and got them, and had them sleep in their parents' room ? Do we know when the two boys went to sleep ? So, the parents bedroom is possibly in the basement ? And Lisa's room is on another floor ? I'm curious to know how many SQ feet is the house ?

Maybe the boys were watching TV in mom's room before bed and fell asleep and she didn't want to move them? Knowing dad wouldn't be home anyway.

It sure would be nice to know which bedrooms were on which floor. All we do know is the far right room is not Lisa's and is a computer room. So Lisa's bedroom could be in the basement by itself, unlikely, but possible, or the boy's bedroom is downstairs or the parents. Right? There has to be 1 bedroom in the basement if the upstairs is 3 bedrooms and one is a computer room.

Why would finding the phones be of such importance, especially if they turn up in a storm drain, wet, etc.? I am not getting that. I guess they could be hoping for prints, etc...but probably not down a sewer. What can the phones tell them that the records can't, otherwise? Just trying to figure out why LE would be so focused on finding the phones, if they are...

Does anybody know the stats of abductions with ransoms in the US? I don't recall EVER seeing one in my area. Lot's of them south of the border, but usually (IMO) when a child is taken in the US it is because someone wanted the child, not as a means to $$$$.

In da Middle ~ Do you know the layout of this particular house? Since you live in the nieghborhood, I was thinking that you may have been in the same model and could provide a layout/description of the house, so we could get a better idea of where things are.

Is there a homeowners association that has an online site that may have the floor plans for the houses in the development? Thanks!
