KWCH just did a segment on Toni. Nothing new but at least she is still in the news.

Just got caught up, lots of thoughts.

In almost every club, dancers are independent contractors who pay "rent", called a house fee, to work. The earlier you come in, the less you pay, typically. Off-peak nights are also cheaper. Think how hairstylists rent their booths.

I danced in very upscale clubs in IL and NY. Missouri is a full nude, no liquor state. From my experience, girls who I met from MO who traveled to my clubs to work and actually passed audition were pretty rough around the edges. I get the impression money was harder to make without booze and the girls had to be pretty cutthroat.

With that said, in my experience working in (very upscale) clubs, very few girls we're drug addicts. There were a few, but there were far more girls with professional husbands who drovs luxury cars and lived in very nice homes. I understand Toni has a criminal record, so certain inferences can be made about her lifestyle. However, I would not make inferences solely because she is a stripper who dabbled in cam work.

We had very little ice last weekend. There was high humidity which caused the roads to freeze a bit, but nothing serious. By 4:30 am I think the worst was over.

I cannot imagine a way someone could go over the side of the bridge over the MO river nearer the 'downtown' QT. The rails are super high and there's a pedestrian walkway with a concrete barrier.

Thanks for this info. Since you have been in this occupation and around people that are similar to Toni, have you ever heard stories about the whole concept of being a confidential informant?

Being in a more upscale establishment, that might not have been something you witnessed, but I'd imagine that you might hear from people in the same occupation from other states about such things. From what I have read so far on here from those who have worked in clubs such as the one Toni worked at, there can often be drugs and other illegal activity. So I could see the logic in having someone with their ear to the ground in one of these clubs.

I agree with your assessment about the roads based on what I am seeing in google maps streetview off the expressways. I'm quite a bit more skeptical of an accident than I was even just a few hours earlier. So good to hear from someone actually living there, that you agree with what I am noticing.

How/why would cops track you from an insurance device though?

Not sure what part of this question is the actual question. :)

Cops track people all the time, for various reasons, especially people involved with drugs. I doubt they use insurance devices, though, but they could, if they got a warrant. As far as I know they install their own device.

The story is that Toni was pulled over a lot. It sounds to me like it's probably a combination of bad driving and the time she's on the road. But she may have been baffled as to why she got pulled over so much and blamed in on the insurance tracking device.

It's just a theory. She was pulled over. Immediately after she unplugged her device. They seem connected.

I have never met anyone who was an informant that I know of. However I've read some very concerning articles in the media about informant deaths. The number of jurisdictions involved in her commute from work to where she was last seen complicate this theory a bit, IMO. Unless she was being followed.

ETA: I was thinking of the bridge over Turkey Creek. The one over the Kansas river is currently slipping my mind.

I'm sure the officer would have asked her where she was headed. Wonder what her answer was?

Not clear on why it would complicate the theory. (but interested in why you'd say that)

I'm not even suggesting the officer who pulled her over knew she was a CI. However, someone who is a CI and is discovered to be one, could be killed for that reason.

There are clear records in the media of KCK and KCMO working together on drug cases involving CI's. So I know that's a thing.

Do you know anything about the Argosy Casino/Hotel? I have found articles about major drug ring deals that occurred at that hotel, involving CI(s).

I don't expect that you know about those specifically, but since you are from the area, and if you have been there... do you get the sense of illegal activity being a part of that scene?

To me, it seems if more people had more details, there'd be more leads...or maybe more evidence of where the story unravels. I'll be curious if they someday release the dashcam footage and if so, what explanation they give for holding it in the meantime.

Maybe they're trying to stall while they watch someone or some place. Maybe the tape breaks protocol. Without new information, and minus any new discoveries, though, it's difficult to come up with unexamined angles in the story we've already cycled through many times. Perhaps a family member or friend will provide some details to the public eventually, though today the family indicated they'd been asked not to for the time being.

Well, she went from Chrome, which is in an industrial no man's land in east KC (and which I'd never heard of until this case), to North Kansas City, another mostly commercial area, to KCK, in yet another sparse, industrial area. If she were being followed, they would have had a lot of traveling to do.

I suppose if she were meeting someone to arrange a deal and they thought something was up, they might keep changing the location. Maybe they saw her get pulled over and went to a different QT nearby but not too close? I guess as I think about it, I'm getting more comfortable with this theory.

I know nothing about the Argosy casino or any local scuttlebutt about drug rings. Having lived in bigger cities, I do think locals have a tendency to exaggerate. KC really is a big small town, IMO.

Yes spinning our wheels at this point. There's a lot of great sleuthers on this thread with great input, but it seems to be at a standstill.

Thanks to all who did this little thing. I like the ideas stated, or inherent, in each reply.

Here it is one more time.

I don't have a strong feeling about this case, but if I had to guess, I would say found alive.

I'm not talking about what happened that day in that context.

Big small town or whatever, it's factual they use CI's, it's not an if. I was merely asking if you were aware of anything like that. There are factual accounts and convictions that include CI's in KCMO, so, it's not an if or an exxageration.

Now... what would happen when someone was found as a snitch? There are accounts of things like that as well, not speculation, but factual accounts of what can happen.

What we know is that it was mentioned by people she knew that she was going to a QT location to "meet" someone.

It's also been said that she was going to "meet" some friends at Shady Lady.

What we don't know is why she went to that QT further north than expected or who she was going there to meet. I'm going to guess she wasn't going for cigarettes, gas, or munchies. She has a QT by her house and there are many other on the route she would have taken to that QT. Also... I'm not sure she even stops at the QT, if the cop doesn't pull her over.

So... if she was a CI. If she was called to meet someone at a location near QT or to the North or Northwest - such as argosy - and she was unaware of her cover having been blown... what might happen?

There'd be no need for any following, if she was going to meet whoever now KNEW she was a CI.

I didn't bring up the controlled buy to suggest that she was on her way to a controlled buy that night, but rather that she might actually be on the way to meet someone who knew she was a CI.

Maybe even calling her to one location (shady lady) and then having someone send her to another so that whoever came looking was going to shady lady or anywhere else but where she was actually going. if so.. it worked.

What we have right now, is consistent with what one might expect when a CI is found to be a snitch. CI is gone... Police ain't saying anything until they have to in either direction - thus -"it's like she disappeared". They might not know if she skipped town to avoid being a CI or if she got handled for being a CI. So not likely they'd say if she was, until they knew... and maybe not even then unless they had to.

Given her social media, we know that she says she was arrested for drugs and somehow avoided prison - by her own words - and that she didn't want to talk about how that happened. That is consistent with how CI's get created. They are told that they can avoid prison and charges, by becoming a CI.

So.. very much speculation obviously. I'm not sure I believe it myself, but I do believe CI's exist. And... if she were a CI, suddenly there is an aspect to this case that actually starts to make sense imo.

Check out the janina vasquez case, and it's another case of a girl who was murdered and somehow deemed it as an accident. Later details came out about a 911 call that police never reported and her mother divulged the drug charges that were dropped against janina just months earlier and thus launching the speculation she might have been a CI. That is the way one typically becomes a CI. Not because they want to, but because it allows them not to go to prison. So both Toni and Janina fit that profile.

Both Janina and Toni went missing. Janina was found in the bottom of a well that she'd had to have jumped a barbed wire fence to get to, and then accidentally fall down into the well with a grate over it. Police deemed it an accident?

Same kind of situation in that she went to meet someone no one knew who they were.

Obviously, she might not have been a CI, I realize that. However, it's the same neck of the woods and both fit the profile of a CI in terms of what kind of people they target. -- someone with a drug charge and already credibility in that world.

sorry for the long post, I'm not the one who came up with this possibility, but I think its not crazy at all. Not convinced, but it's something I think is plausible.

I know and believe there are CIs out there and many are strong-armed into it, but my one concern is that Toni posted on social media that she managed to avoid prison on a drug charge. I've personally known dealers in my younger days and they will flip out if you even say the wrong words around them or over the phone with them, so I would be surprised if she could post on SM that she avoided prison on drug charges and still had drug dealers that trusted her - unless the dealers were naive enough to work with her without checking her out first or she had a public paper trail proving she got probation or some type of punishment to give her a cover. Just an observation.

She might not even have been a active CI, but rather just someone who snitched on someone to avoid prison. If you read her tumblr, she said she had to hide before she moved from Wichita. So she didn't have to be a active CI, just a found snitch or a snitch who understood that being found wasn't gonna be a good thing - thus disappear if she was aware that it was a possibility or simply due to paranoia/anxiety related to that reality.

The reason I was speculating CI is because you do see alot of stories about CI's that basically are living with that fear of their cover being blown everyday. I know I'd be thinking about disappearing if I had that problem.

Has anyone pulled up the weather history for this time and day?
I've been following the case from the beginning but I'm not one to chime in much.

I'm local. We were supposed to have an ice storm that weekend. But there wasn't much to speak of and the roads were well treated. It was much ado about nothing.

I personally don't think it's a likely scenario that she had an accident and her car has not been found. Not given the area she was in and the timing of the storm.

I suspect foul play even if LE won't admit it. I don't have a theory as to what happened. Pretty risky lifestyle, The Shady Lady is very bad news. It's not a high-class Gentleman's club by any stretch of the imagination. I don't know enough about Chrome to offer an educated opinion. However, just given the fact that she was going to the shady lady after they closed is enough to make me frightened for her well-being.

i'm also happy to answer questions about Kansas City. I know it's been mentioned before but it's worth noting that Kansas City encompasses several different counties, a plethora of cities, and two states.

I do not feel like the CI situation applies here, but I could be wrong.

I do not believe that she disappeared on her own accord. I don't have a definitive feeling about the boyfriend. If he is involved he wasn't very smart about it.

I'm hoping we hear something soon and I pray that she did voluntarily leave.

I'm thinking she met with an unsavory person. They ditched her phone. Threw it in the trash for all we know and it sat there and battery died 9:30pm.

Some comments on the news site's post led me to think along these lines too. I've been zooming in on the Google map and looking at area businesses surrounding the QuikTrip for a little while now. There are several auto places nearby. One is a block away from a QuikTrip. Could someone who studied the video footage of her leaving the lot tell me if she could've been headed toward this or another one in the area?

A little further away, same general area, another car shop is publicly registered at datagovus website to a new guy who has same last name as bf. Not saying it's related, but any chance Toni knew someone and went there for help/protection/assistance of some kind?

By the way, I checked to see if she had liked either of these auto places on her FB page and she had NOT (she only likes band pages mostly). I also did not see any posts from her or pics from her on their business pages, so haven't been able to establish any direct possibility she knew them...other than the possibility of the owner being related to her bf. But an auto place might be a reasonable place to go given all the circumstances we've covered here and the fact that her car quit tracking VERY near there and yet isn't out in the open.
i cant remember where i saw it, but her bf is painting stripes on the side of a classic car in what appears to be a body shop.

Bogus paper trail is a super smart idea but I bet they don't just offer. I'm thinking the types of gents she would be meeting at a qt wouldn't have stumbled upon tumbler to read her confession. I can't even figure out how to use it. He/She may have been introduced to her by a trusted buddy or she woo'd him at the club and groomed his trust? Hypothetically. She moved away from the city that the felony offense occurred in right after it happened. So the only people who would know anything about it were tumbler followers or new peeps she chose to tell about it. Right? Maybe word traveled, seller found out that he was being led. Meet me at the qt snitch... I could see that happening. If he had a lot of weight in the industry it's more likely. Pure speculation and maybe she isn't a CI. I hope wherever she is she finds her way home.

Why would she disable it herself? She was going to meet friends, that was known.

Well, the info we have is that she was going to meet friends, but I don't know where that even came from. Her boyfriend? But if she was trying to disappear she'd know to disable that tracker.
