Defense says Tammy Moorer is pregnant, judge rules bond must remain denied

McCollum argued that his client should be granted bond because of not only her pregnancy, but also because of her age during pregnancy and the stress of incarceration.

But senior assistant solicitor Donna Elder questioned whether Moorer is really pregnant, saying she refused medical attention after her second pregnancy test.

In the end, Circuit Court Judge Steven John ruled that the court for now considers Moorer pregnant, but that evidence presented at her bond reconsideration was not enough for her to be released. He did leave the door open for the defense to request another hearing in the future.

Catching up here, but the Solicitor doesn't believe the pregnancy? Wow. You would think, as the prosecutor, the Solicitor would have access to the medical records. So is that just a ploy, or what? Interesting. I would think the judge would have the medical records also??

I'm confused about this. I mean, if she is, it had to be diagnosed by the Jail's medical staff, complete with testing. All info would have to be disclosed for the bond hearing.

If I understand this correctly, test taken at jail was negative, test taken at hospital was positive. Solicitor wants third test but Tammy wont submit so they are suspicious.

Wasn't sure if any of these had been posted or not...

Woman charged in Heather Elvis disappearance denied bond for second time

For the second time, Circuit Court Judge Steven John denied bond Friday for Tammy Moorer, who is charged in connection with the disappearance of 20-year-old Heather Elvis.

Moorer along with her 38-year-old husband, Sidney Moorer, are each charged with murder, kidnapping, obstruction of justice and two counts of indecent exposure in connection with the Elvis case.

Defense says Tammy Moorer is pregnant, judge rules bond must remain denied

Tammy Moorer is pregnant and in her second trimester, her attorney Greg McCollum said in court Friday.

Hoppy, did she look pregnant?

She 'looked' pregnant, even if she is not pregnant.
But what's the big deal? Women in prison have babies everyday. Getting pregnant doesn't put you above the law. Nothing should change in her treatment, in my view.

:dunno: I think I'm calling BS on being pregnant. Maybe she had a false test, or was pregnant at one time, and perhaps miscarried.

To refuse pre-natal treatment and simply think she would be let out is just crazy.

It is pathetic and sad either way. If she is pregnant and refusing pre-natal treatment??? WTF? :waitasec:

I would think it wouldnt be easy to tell by looking at this stage considering Tammys build.

But she had delivered 3 before, usually you show pretty quickly the more pregnancies you've had even with her build. I think she'd be showing if she's past 16 weeks or so.

Also, she lied about troubled pregnancies. That's a lot of BS. I need to hunt for that dis board post where she talks about having mostly easy pregnancies.

If her home is as bad as LE stated after serving the search warrants, the jail is probably cleaner.
OMG, the more I think about it, I wish the solicitor would show the photos taken during the search to make a point!
If she CHOOSES to not accept prenatal care, that's on her.

I wonder if she was pregnant at one point and already miscarried. :waitasec:

I wonder this also. At her age, hard to get pregnant to begin with; and if one does get pregnant, much greater chance of chromosomal abnormality and spontaneous loss of pregnancy.

What's with no photographs of the hearing? WTH happened to freedom of the press?

Well, apparently prenatal vitamins cause her to miscarry (facepalm). So she does have a bit of a checkered past, shall we say, when it comes to prenatal care. Does anyone know if prisoners can refuse prenatal care while incarcerated?
