while you are correct and she could have mentally lost it and had hysteria, usually the person who has chosen to commit suicide feels as if their problems are solved and are stoic.

Im not quite sure you can say someone suicidal would be calm. It could be a mental break

"It is unknown if investigators have obtained surveillance video from the businesses where the card was used. ". Also, "Investigators have not released a suspect description, but law enforcement told KHQ Wednesday that they don't believe there is anything tying a possible suspect to the Spokane area and don't believe there is a threat to the public"

LE has not released anything that doesn't jive with possible suicide.

I hope for firm answers soon for the family's sake.

Well golly gee .... if a random perp is going around kidnapping and killing innocent people --I'd consider THAT a threat to the public !
How can they say that this early in the investigation ? Imo.

True he could have used many different roads, highways etc. but I think if he was familiar to this area he would have taken I-90. He definitely could have gone all over and that might explain the purchases since both were at gas stations. However both purchases were made in towns right off of I-90, Kingston, Idaho and Ritzille. He seems deranged to overpower her, throw her in a trunk, drive for hours and kill her for what appears to be no reason. As a family member stated, Why couldn't he just take her belongings? Why did he have to kill her? Rita told her daughter a lot of details considering the circumstances. It appears he already double backed onto I-90 by going through Spokane to Ritzville and back to Spokane which makes me think that he may have used I-90 and gone back and forth in different directions. It seems that if he was driving all over and making unnecessary drives in Spokane and Ritzville that he would use I-90 in Idaho and Montana as well but all of it is of course speculation. This was reported yesterday on the KHQ during the 6 p.m. slot and now it is reported here: http://staging.hosted.ap.org/dynami...ME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT&CTIME=2016-09-08-16-09-04
I first heard about this case via Spokane News FB page: https://www.facebook.com/SpokaneNews/posts/10153683418000706

I thought too that at the beginning stages of the investigation that the license plate was read at the Washington State border but I will have to find where I read that.

Here's this.

Law enforcement tracked the use of her cellphone to help locate the vehicle. Her car's license plate was captured on a license plate reader near Post Falls, Idaho.

Also - A Helena police officer talked to Maze shortly before she died, Dutton said.

They probably just don't want to panic people. I wonder if they have evidence it was orchestrated by someone she knew--like a paid hit man or something?

If there was a crazed madman on the loose, kidnapping and killing strangers, there'd be a lot more attention/information to the public. They know exactly who is responsible for this death.

I'm wondering how this could be a paid hit if she randomly stopped at the rest stop. That doesn't add up to me.

IMO they could if their suspect is being held somewhere but hasn't been charged yet.

Investigators believe she was approached at a gas station where she was hit on the head and put in the trunk of her car.

snip

Deputies say they have identified a person of interest, but are still awaiting confirmation. Investigators were able to gather some identifying information via gas station surveillance video.

So now she was kidnapped from the gas station and not the rest stop??

The only way a hit would make sense, in my opinion, is if the rest stop kidnapping never occurred and that whole story was a fabrication. In that case, the phone call home would have to be a fabrication, too, though.

I'm not believing any of this until I hear it from LE's mouth. There are way too many conflicting details on all of the MSM accounts.

I agree. I suspect there might be some sloppy reporting going on.

I'd like to hear something directly from LE.

I think you have to question the quality of the journalism in many of these stories. They are often city kids who, for eg, have no idea what a rest stop is.
