Jadon was last seen in Durham, North Carolina on October 1, 2010. His mother, Vania Rae Sisk, was a member of a religious group called the Black Hebrews, lead by Peter Lucas Moses Jr. Jadon, Vania, and Moses shared a home with 9 other children, 3 of which were hers, and at least 8 other adults. In February 2011, the police went to the home to search for Antoinetta McKoy, a member of the group who had tried to leave and had been missing since December. Jadon wasn't in the home at the time.
After the search, the Black Hebrew group left Durham and moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado. The Colorado Springs police were informed that "horrific abuse" was going on in the home, and Jadon was missing. On February 23, investigators went to the home to look for Jadon, but he wasn't there. Ten children in the home were taken into protective custody. The adults were told to come to an appointment with DSS the next day. All of them came except Vania. Moses said she left during the night, and produced a note, supposedly written by her, saying she was sorry and was living with Jadon.
Vania was originally considered to be a missing person along with her son. She was found in Woodland Park, Colorado. She said she gave Jadon to an acquaintance on February 20, and provided 2 different names for this person. 4 days later, the Black Hebrews group left Colorado and returned to Durham. Both Moses and Vania failed to appear in court. They were located and arrested in April.
A former Black Hebrew who left the group told authorities Jadon had been murdered. The witness said Moses got angry with Jadon and told him to come to the basement, followed by the sound of gunfire. Moses allegedly wrapped Jadon's body in plastic, put it in a suitcase, and left it in the attic until it began to smell. He then disposed of it in an unknown location. The witness also said Vania killed Antoinetta McKoy on Moses' orders.
Both Vania and Moses remain in custody. They have not been charged with murder, but are the prime suspects in Jadon and Antionetta's disappearances. Foul play is suspected.
