A confidential informant told police in February that both Jadon and McKoy were killed in the Pear Tree Lane house and that their bodies were disposed of.

Police repeatedly searched the Pear Tree Lane house, and a search warrant states that they found a bullet, shell casing and evidence of human blood and "overt cleaning" inside.

The warrant refers to an informant who told investigators that Peter Moses, the leader of the Black Hebrews, shot Jadon in the basement of his home in Durham after the man became angry with the child.

The warrant goes on to say the boy's body was wrapped in plastic and placed into a suitcase. The body was later moved from the home.

The informant told authorities while they lived in Durham, the same man who shot Jadon got into an argument with McKoy, whose family in Washington, DC reported her missing. McKoy was a member of the Black Hebrews.

Documents say she was beaten unconscious by two women after she tried to flee from the residence. Warrants say that McKoy had successfully managed to flag down a car, but before it could drive away, the two women told the driver everything was fine and escorted McCoy back to the home, where they then beat her.

The warrant goes on to say that Peter Moses ordered Sisk to shoot McCoy. According to documents, Sisk complied.
 
Yvonne McKoy says her daughter met Moses in high school in Washington, DC. Yvonne says she hadn't seen Moses for 10 years, then all of a sudden, her daughter announced in December that she was marrying Moses and moving to North Carolina.

Yvonne says her daughter had no idea she was getting involved in a cult.

"She wanted to get out of it. They chased her, beat her down and shot her twice in the head," said Yvonne McKoy.

7 indicted in slaying of boy, woman here

Seven members of a supposed Durham-based cult known as the "Black Hebrews" have been indicted on charges involving the deaths of 5-year-old Jadon Tyrell James Higganbothan and 29-year-old Antoinetta Yvonne McKoy.

The two victims had been missing for months before their decomposed remains were found in early June behind a 2622 Ashe St. home in East Durham.


Some charges dropped against suspect in Durham slayings

Four charges were dismissed Wednesday against a Durham man suspected of killing a woman and a boy and burying their remains behind his mother's house.

Peter Lucas Moses, 27, still faces two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of Jadon Higganbothan, 5, and Antoinetta Yvonne McKoy, 28.

This article is short on facts, and sadly the reporter hadn't looked at any news reports. Otherwise, he'd have known they didn't live in a 1-room house.
The home in Durham as well as the home in CO where they tracked the group to after they'd run from NC were by most standards, very nice homes.

I am a bit dismayed that this case has almost-zero interest here and at the other forums... many don't even have a thread.
We care so very deeply about Caylee and her despicable mother than this little guy who lost his life in a horrific manner to a horrific group of people.

I might speculate race, that is usually done... but then there are a ton of cases here and elsewhere that are 'meh'.

I just look in that baby's eyes. Sadness. No spark. And I know it is because nobody cared. According to WRAL, Vania asked relatives or friends to care for Jadon when Pete said "get rid of him", and nobody would or could.

Pete wanted him g.o.n.e. and when Jadon smacked another kids' bottom, that was the end of Jadon.

The rest of the kids lived and are in foster care.
God please, hold them and give them a happier life.

But cynic that I am, I don't have a lot of hope in this world.
 
Many thanks to the good posters here who kept up with this case - I haven't been able to post or keep up with much since all four kids got out of school, but Jadon and Antoinetta have been on my mind along with a few others. From the beginning I too was struck by the emptiness or fear that looked to be on little Jadon's face, and I was so, so heartstruck by the interviews with Antoinetta's family, which took so long in coming - this poor woman got almost no media attention to her own individual disappearance until the issues surrounding Moses, the cult, and Jadon got publicized.

Reading about the treatment of these two victims completely infuriates me. Imaging poor Antoinetta being tortured for an entire day like that is almost more than I can take. And to think that someone's hatred of homosexuals could be SO GREAT that it would cause him to kill a BABY??!! :furious: I find it hard to even find words for it. unbelievable.

So sad to learn of all this. Trying to find at least some satisfaction in that now the two families' waiting to know is over. Thinking especially of Jadons father and AnToinettas mother today. :(
 
I have been sitting here reading this in sheer horror!! I had not known about this case before! What that precious little boy must have gone through!! It makes me sick to my stomach! :-(

This part of the article REALLY bothers me!

The 28-​year old woman whom Moses killed, Antoinetta Yvonne McKoy, had been beaten and strangled with an extension cord by the other women before Moses murdered her. The day he did, she had escaped to a neighbor’s house and begged her to use her cell phone. The neighbor did not call police because she claims she thought the woman might be mentally disturbed. She witnessed Moses dragging her into the house, and still never called police.

This woman should be so ashamed of herself!! I have read in many cases lately where people would not step up to help someone in obvious need. Why?? Why are people so self-preserving that they are unwilling to help someone in OBVIOUS need of help? Calling the police will not get you murdered, but may help prevent someone else from being murdered. I could just scream! :scream:

I am so, so sad for what Antoinetta suffered, and what little Jadon must have went through before he died. I am trying to at least find comfort in the fact that Jadon's death must have been mercifully fast. :cry:

:rose: Peace to both their families. :rose: I'm sure that the autopsy news has made their grief all the more raw.
 
Fingerprint links accused Durham sect leader to dead bodies

DURHAM, N.C. — Investigators have matched a fingerprint from the shallow graves of a Durham boy and a woman with the leader of a religious sect who has been charged in their deaths, according to search warrants released Wednesday.

The bodies of Jadon Higganbothan, 4, and Antoinetta Yvonne McKoy, 28, were found in June buried behind a house on Ashe Street in Durham.

I added a lot of photos and 2 vids, 2 articles so far to the Case Archive. There was good news coverage today when the group of 7 was in court.

Defense is all about discounting the woman who blew the lid... saying she is unstable, etc.

Also another persons fingerprint has been identified on the tape sticky side that wrapped one of the bodies.
