Several things:
1) I find Ven's idea that the note on the bag was written after the crime (by the perp) and intended as a message to the roommate KR, interesting.
2) I'm still not clear if LE has looked at handwriting samples from various persons-of-interest for comparison to the bag-note -- surely they did?
3) though the new information that is out seems like a lot (compared to what was known before), it really doesn't seem like much for a supposedly 2-yr. intense investigation. But, according to press, "100s of pages" were released, including the autopsy report, so I assume there's still a LOT more to be seen, but when?
4) Various car searches were done, but I've seen no report of the findings there (or does that mean nothing of significance was found in those searches?)
5) the text messages from Faith to BE at 3:40 and 3:43 were released, and then there is mention of short calls from KR to someone (I'm not quite clear if it's BE or JB, though I think BE) at 3:44, 3:52, 3:55, and 4:14 -- I assume those were actual calls, and not text messages? She then leaves around 4:30 -- again I'm not clear if she left with JB, BE or someone else?
The texts by FH seem clear to me:
she types "Can you come over here please. Karena needs you more aha. You know. Please let her know you care." and then 3 minutes later, texts: "than".
I presume the latter one-word text was meant as a correction to the first auto-corrected text that should've read, "Can you come over here please. Karena needs you more than you know. Please let her know you care."
So I'm guessing it's BE who comes by at 4:30 to pick up KR and take her to JB's place (but just a guess, and why? -- convenient for her to be gone during the critical hours). Then Faith is alone (and several know she's alone); then what???
6) not clear to me how many sought-DNA samples from POIs were ever obtained (seems like at least two never were collected?)
Finally, "cuffed" I'm not sure if I understand your question correctly or not, but as long as the DNA is not degraded (which in this case it wouldn't be) the only reason I can think of not to get a match, if the perpetrator gives a sample, is if the perpetrator were "chimeric" (has multiple sets of chromosome profiles in their body -- a rare but possible condition), and the sample taken is from body cells that don't match the crime scene, even though other cells from same individual would.
There's an awful lot more info that the PD must have but still hasn't appeared in press.
Enough for now. There is going to be moment of silence for Faith on campus today at noon, marking the 2-year anniversary.
