Andy Delarocha, senior supervisory resident agent with the FBI, said Tuesday in a news conference that the bureau's Child Abduction Rapid Deployment (CARD) team arrived Monday-- the group is specifically trained to work missing children cases.

"Still, the most important part of our investigative team is you-- the public-- and we need your help. " Delarocha said, "Sometimes, people think they don't have important information to share. Please, let us decide. Call the tip line."

"There have been searches throughout the county," Delarocha said. "These searches will continue in the immediate area and throughout the surrounding communities until we find Hania."

Investigators say there is no indication Hania was targeted or that her abduction is gang-related.

  • Provided remarks in Spanish
Some Q&A notes…
  • The foot traffic at that time of the day was very light. This was the only individual who they saw walking at that time of the day in this part of the neighborhood. May not be anything unusual.
  • In the approx. 1 hour timeframe leading up to the kidnapping, this is the only person they were able to identify via CCTV footage and he may have information.
  • In the direction of Lambeth, to Elizabethtown Rd, to that intersection.
  • They are hoping to obtain forensic information regarding the driver of the SUV.
  • The person in the video is just someone who they want to speak with. They are not ruling anything in or out.
  • As far as they can tell, he is the only person who is on foot at that time of day in the area.
  • He’s not a subject, and they are not calling him a POI. Just someone they want to speak with.
  • They don’t have any information as for who he is.
  • They are hoping that a family member, or himself, will come forward and identify him so they can speak with him.
  • They don’t have - other than report of a dark hoodie and yellow bandanna - they aren’t able to tell when reviewing the footage if that is consistent. It’s difficult to tell at this point of time without enhancing the video. They thought it best to getting it out to the public asap instead of sitting on it to see if it matched up exactly to what the identification was.

‘Desperate’ search for kidnapped NC teen enters day 6
The FBI is asking for the public’s help identifying a man seen walking near the scene where 13-year-old Hania Noelia Aguilar was kidnapped Monday morning.

In an update to the case released on Saturday, FBI representatives and investigators reported that they will continue to canvass the area near where the SUV had been found on Thursday.

FBI Supervisory Resident Agent Andy Delarocha urged local residents to step forward if they had any information that could potentially assist the case moving forward.

“Someone knows this man and we need you to call us. Maybe you recognize the way he walks, his mannerisms, or maybe he will recognize himself on TV. The public was critical in the recovery of the SUV, now we need you to come through again for us. Who is the man on the video?”

Surveillance video released Thursday shows what appears to be a man wearing light colored shoes, a light-colored shirt, and a hoodie walking south on Lambeth Street, then turning North on Highway 41/Elizabethtown Highway towards the Rosewood Mobile Home Park.

The FBI released additional angles of the surveillance video Friday.

“The person responsible for this - if you’re watching this: We’re coming after you,” the FBI said Friday.

Officials called the search for Hania “desperate” and “relentless.”

SUV found, hunt for missing Lumberton girl stretches into the night :: WRAL.com
The green SUV that was stolen earlier this week during the kidnapping of a 13-year-old Lumberton girl was found Thursday, but the search for Hania Noelia Aguilar continued into the night. Investigators were going door to door along Quincey Drive, talking to residents to seek clues to the girl's whereabouts.

"Someone called 911 and said they saw the vehicle backed up in the woods," McNeil said during an impromptu press conference. "We immediately secured the scene. There is an incredible amount of investigative work going on to find Hania. That's our main goal right now."

"We're also hoping that we can possibly obtain forensic information regarding the driver of the SUV," FBI Agent Andy DeLarocha said. Federal investigators asked that anyone who lives or operates a business in the area and may have a video surveillance camera system call the FBI's tip line at 910-272-5871.

The FBI also released surveillance video showing what appears to be a man walking in the area where the girl was taken. Investigators said the man was walking south on Lambeth Street before turning north on NC Highway 41 towards the mobile home park where the girl lived with her family. Anyone who saw the person was asked to call the tip line.

"The foot traffic at that time of the day was actually very light, and this is actually the only individual we saw out walking at that time of day in this part of the neighborhood," DeLarocha said.

SUV found in Lumberton, but teen still missing. FBI seeks to ID person on video.
As the multi-agency search for a missing Lumberton 13-year-old entered its fourth day Thursday, authorities found the green SUV the teen was abducted in. They also asked for the public’s help in identifying a person seen on a surveillance video walking toward the site of the kidnapping.

Later Thursday, the FBI released the surveillance video of a person seen walking toward the mobile home park on Monday morning. They asked for the public’s help in identifying the person. The person appears to be a man walking south on Lambeth Street then turning left on Highway 41 about an hour before Hania was kidnapped, according to FBI investigator Andy Delarocha.

The person appears to be wearing light-colored shoes, a light-colored shirt and a dark hoodie.

“Our search for Hania expands every second and it also becomes more and more dire,” the FBI said Thursday. “We still need your help.”

“It was strange because their car wasn’t at the bus stop,” MP said. “We usually leave the kids at the bus stop, and we know who else is there to leave their kids.”

MP, who has been a resident in the mobile park for four years, said she and her family live in fear. A few homes down the street from her, a young man was stabbed recently, she said. She also said other residents have been assaulted in the mobile home park and that some homes have been broken into while the residents were at work.

It’s normal to see non-residents walking through the neighborhood at night, Perez added.

AMBER Alert: Vigil held in Lumberton for 13-year-old Hania Aguilar
Those who know 13-year-old Hania Aguilar best are stepping up and speaking out.

Hundreds gathered for a prayer vigil in Lumberton Wednesday night, just days after she was kidnapped.

It's been tough week at Lumberton Junior High School, especially for Aguilar's teacher JA. "We got the AMBER Alert, and I think my heart stopped," JA said. "They (students) said, 'Mrs. A, how could somebody do something like this to somebody that nice?' And I didn't really know how to answer that."

She and many others are thinking of Aguilar. They say she is a girl known by many as kind with a heart of gold.

"She wanted to help people and has a loving heart. We don't understand why she's out there," said MB, a friend of the Aguilar family. "She should be home with (her) mom, with (her) sisters, enjoying family."

At the vigil, authorities are asking for anyone with video that could help in Aguilar's search to submit it to the Lumberton Police Department.
