The FBI announced on Saturday that they were continuing an active investigation into the case of the kidnapping of Hania Aguilar in front of her family’s home on the morning of Nov. 5. Foot and drone searches will be conducted throughout the area and the SBI K9 unit has assisted in the investigation as well.

Residents of Robeson County have been asked to inspect their own property over the weekend to determine if they see anything unusual or out-of-place. Any potentially suspicious evidence should be reported to local authorities immediately.

Active search involves dogs, drones for kidnapped Lumberton teen Hania Aguilar
The FBI said Saturday that agents are conducting searches on foot and using drones and K-9s as part of the search for Hania Noelia Aguilar. The SBI used a search dog named Bart to help in the search on Saturday.

Officials made a specific plea this week that people stop spreading rumors about the case, which was slowing down the investigation.

When asked about a timeline of events and possible scenarios in finding Aguilar, de la Rocha said "our approach is that she’s alive" and "we have no evidence that indicates otherwise.”

De la Rocha wouldn't comment on what type of evidence was collected and sent for analysis. However, he did say the person seen walking in the area of where Aguilar went missing on video released last week remains unidentified.

He also said "we don’t ever set a time table on our investigations" when asked if there was a point in which the search would be called off.

Investigators ask anyone living in Robeson County to check your own property this weekend for anything unusual or out of place. If you see something that doesn’t belong or is not normal, do not touch anything (you could damage possible evidence) and call the tip line or 911. You know your property best and can most easily determine if something is worth contacting law enforcement to help us #FindHania.

Drones and dogs enlisted in search for missing Lumberton 13-year-old
Federal, state and local law enforcement teams continued searching for Hania Aguilar over the weekend, employing drones and dogs on Saturday to try to find the kidnapped Lumberton teenager.

A statement the FBI issued on Saturday said authorities were following investigative leads in addition to searching on foot and with drones.

Agents also asked Robeson County residents to inspect their own yards for anything unusual or out of place. Anyone who finds something that doesn’t belong there is asked to call the tip line — 910-272-5871 — or call 911. Officials are also asking that people use the hashtag #FindHania on social media.

Residents shouldn’t touch anything they find that is unfamiliar, because it could damage possible evidence.

“You know your property best and can most easily determine if something is worth contacting law enforcement,” the FBI said.

Investigators are still trying to track down a man who was seen in surveillance footage walking in the neighborhood that Monday morning, around the time Hania was abducted. The three videos, which the FBI released earlier this week, show the unidentified man wearing light-colored shoes, a light-colored shirt and a hoodie.

The man is not considered a suspect or person of interest at this time. Rather, he's someone authorities "want to speak with" because he may be able to help investigators narrow down a timeline of Hania's kidnapping, according to FBI Supervisor Andy de la Rocha.

Authorities are seeking additional surveillance footage from anyone who lives or owns a business on or near Quincey Drive.

For his part, the priest of the Catholic Church San Andrés de Red Springs said that the minor attended confirmation classes and that she was a quiet child.

He also pointed out that this would be a random and isolated case. "She went out just to start the car because of the weather. She never does that: turn on the car to warm up, "he said.

However, he considered that it would not be a kidnapping for money, since the family has not received any call for a ransom. "I've lived in the area for five years and I've never seen and heard of a similar case.

Amber Alert: Hania Aguilar has been missing for 2 weeks
A 13-year-old girl has been missing for two weeks. An Amber Alert remains active for Hania Noelia Aguilar of Lumberton, North Carolina.

Lumberton police officials continue to work leads in Aguilar's disappearance. They previously encouraged the public to stop sharing "misinformation" about the Amber Alert case that has rocked the community for more than a week, saying that it is hampering their investigation.

"We need these rumors stopped," he said. "It makes it harder to find Hania."

Chief McNeill said they also need to see more surveillance video from around the area the SUV was found in order to pinpoint when it was abandoned.
He added that officers are working around the clock to bring Hania home.

FBI expands surveillance request in Hania Aguilar case
"We are at a critical phase in our investigation and need the public’s help," said Shelly Lynch, FBI-Charlotte spokesperson.

The FBI has been requesting surveillance video from those near Hania's home-- the Rosewood Mobile Home Park off Elizabethtown Road.

"Unfortunately, many have not contacted us, even when FBI Special Agents left business cards and reward flyers asking for a call-back," Lynch said. "If we do not reach everyone with video soon, that video could be lost as many systems will purge the older footage automatically."

Authorities say they are "desperately" trying to acquire additional footage of the stolen SUV to determine when and how it got to Quincey Drive, where it was found three days after Hania's disappearance.

"Today, we are expanding our plea for video to all of Robeson County, specifically along Highway 41/Elizabethtown Road and any side streets, especially along Popes Crossing Road, Wire Grass Road, and Lovett Road."

Today, marks two weeks since Hania Aguilar was kidnapped outside her home in Lumberton. We are at a critical phase in our investigation and need the public’s help. Many times over the past few weeks, we have asked for anyone in Lumberton or surrounding Robeson County with surveillance video to call us. Unfortunately, many have not contacted us, even when FBI Special Agents left business cards and reward flyers asking for a call-back. If we do not reach everyone with video soon, that video could be lost as many systems will purge the older footage automatically. We are desperately trying to locate additional footage of the stolen SUV to determine when and how it got to Quincey Drive where it was found on November 8th. Today, we are expanding our plea for video to all of Robeson County, specifically along Highway 41/Elizabethtown Road and any side streets, especially along Popes Crossing Road, Wire Grass Road, and Lovett Road. Please call the tip line number at 910-272-5871.

An earlier plea from the FBI and the Lumberton Police Department for business or home surveillance video has now been expanded to deer hunters.
