After Odom’s appearance, Sharman Odom’s mother tried to knock the microphones out of the hands of a Channel 9 reporter and assaulted two photographers, the station reported.

The Channel 9 reporter and photographer were not injured, but another photographer received a cut on his face, WSOC-TV reported. Newton police said Odom’s mother will face three assault charges, according to Channel 9.

Actually, that "guy" is her daughter and his sister I believe. If you check a few posts back, I posted a screen grab of a twitter exchange the sister had with one of the reporters re: the clocking of reporter. It listed her name but I don't remember it now, am on my phone and had a long day...

His face of anger in this morning's appearance...hope it's anger at himself but get the sinking feeling accountability and empathy for others - i.e. the true victims - does not compute with this family. It is a look of how dare you, I have raped and strangled up to now, so what if I killed her. I am entitled to do it.
 
His lawyer said he is "confused"

Perhaps because he was never actually convicted with anything.

The first case is terrifying, as the woman had a daughter and Odom basically terrorised and stalked them after the relationship broke up. The woman said she did not pursue the charges because she was terrified he'd keep tracking their lives. It's really worth reading what this woman and her child went through with him:

I had an immediate pang of sympathy for this poor woman -- I hope she doesn't feel its her fault Maggie is dead. It sounds to me like she wanted to drop off the map, where he was concerned. Sometimes -- and I have done this myself, with the psycho my ex married -- it is actually better to make sure they don't have reason to retaliate. If women being stalked aggressively got more support and protection, maybe Odom would not have been free to continue his pattern of violence against women.

I *think* what they're saying with the 2nd victim is that Odom strangling her into unconsciousness didn't go forward as a charge, because she was a prostitute. Typical.

I just went back and found your post, thank you. So is that the sister that helped raise him?

I wonder which news station they will choose to speak with :rolleyes:

Maybe an exclusive for not pressing charges.

Thanks for pointing out that article, Ausgirl. :seeya: I hadn't read it.

Reading about the poor woman's experience with him makes me think that this is probably exactly how he behaved with Maggie - pushing his way in, peering in etc. It could well be his tried and tested MO :facepalm:

In April 2012, a restraining order was filed against Odom after the victim said she feared for her and her daughter’s safety.

“Defendant repeatedly sends messages and calls the Plaintiff, tried to push his way into her home; and has been observed peering into her home and appeared uninvited,” court documents state.

Not sure about her raising him. She was tweeting so I looked up her handle that's in that grab. Seemed to be concerned about her mother this morning and in disbelief that her brother did what he's being charged with. My thoughts...we all see things thru rose colored glasses but her glasses are shattered because this is not her dear brother's first rodeo.

No, that persons name is Angela
 
According to this article, his cousin Angela helped to raise him:

But Odom’s family members, including a woman who identified herself as his cousin Angela, said Sunday that Odom “is not the monster that they’re portraying him as” in the media. The woman, who answered the phone listed as Odom’s last known telephone number, would not give her last name.

Angela said she helped to raise Odom from as young as 8 years old. She said Odom helped disadvantaged youth and volunteered in church.

Ah ha, thank you. I read that article and actually thought they had some modicum of class or at least her husband did given he took a second to empathize with what MDs family must be going through and validated the person MD seemed to be. Its called taking accountability, the rest of the family could stand taking a page from his book including the monster behind bars.
