RIP Little Raul

When it has been confirmed that the body is Raul please alert. We will move the thread to located.

Heartsick. So tragic.

Per the second article, the quote from the mother has all sorts of alerts going off for me. The subconscious often pushes words out of our mouths.

Familiar things that stood out to me, from various cases like Raul's as it stands now.

nobody heard him leave, doors open or close

previous abuse or child deaths

looked five minutes right after missing, called after an hour, no twenty minutes...

real mom away

other kids around (somebody is often, sick, taking nap, watching TV... not aware)

neighbor, kind to kid, takes some brunt

caretaker was cooking (probably not a casserole, if not taking a bath, like Malik Drummond's case)

that was the last straw for me in hopes he made it through, besides the detail about whether he had shoes on.

I think my question from last night got lost in the shuffle. Now that we have reason to believe he was in the pond, I’m even more curious.

Do we know if Raul was taught how to swim?

Most little ones who have not learned by 4 are terrified of a large body of water. Particularly when they are alone.

If he did not know how to swim, I’m afraid I will be leaning towards someone putting him in there[emoji17]

The cold paralyses the body (especially arms and legs) quickly, even if people can swim. A child even more quickly.

ETA: sorry I obviously did not read your post thoroughly! You made a different point. Mea culpa!

In the throws of catching up and had just read a small report in Time online from 25 minutes ago but can’t do the link. So saddened about it ending this way, poor little soul R.I.P xx

It's so easy for kids to slip into water off season like this, just a foot in at that height. It's a man-made pond with a smooth surface and there could have been algae buildup. They lose their footing panic go deeper.

Maybe he tried hiding when they first went out to look for him and he slipped in by the time his mom came home?

I hope those who searched also know how much they are appreciated. My heart always goes out to them in such heart wrenching circumstances.

RIP Raul, I am so sorry the adults in your life failed you. I hope your death was not in vain and your siblings are moved to a loving and safe home.

Is this pond the one that’s 800 yds, or was it metres away or was he found in the other one that was being drained, anyone know please?

Thank god for that search warrant!!
Makes me wonder what the pond owner is trying to hide??

Playing Devil's Advocate here...

perhaps the pond water is used for agriculture and/or animals on a farm?

Is it expensive to re-fill the water?

Just some thoughts...:dunno:

I started this thread early this morning and read through everyone’s post. I started with hope, then was heartbroken over the charges. Each page I grew more and more sad. Hope became less and less. And now I’m at the end of the thread.
I’m sorry Raul. Sometimes accidents are so hard to accept. All the what if’s.
thank you everyone for all your dedicated posts for Raul. Big hugs to you all. I’m sure many of you are shedding real and silent tears. Xo

That is information I did not know since I live in So Cal and we don’t exactly have “seasons”. So thank you for that.

After looking a bit more I have not found anything regarding his swimming abilities. Taking into account the apparent lack of adult supervision, I have a feeling no one took the time to teach him how to swim. My gut says something is not right. I doubt this was accidental.

Also...I stumbled upon this
“Scotland County Sheriff Ralph E. Kersey said he wanted to drain the pond after a search by a dive team came up empty Thursday. The pond has been a top area of interest since three separate K9 units “took the same course” from Raul’s home to the pond, Kersey said.”

Did I miss this? Because I thought the dogs all went to a barn.

We were told about the child size foot prints at the waters edge. Set me off wondering if there were any adult size prints also. I’m still thinking of the barn, the disturbed pine needles, and, my head hurts.

IIRC, Katydid quoted something sans froid upthread that appeared in MSM, quoting LE about ruling out Raul being moved...

The care with which they've seemed to drain the pond may help to distinguish whether Raul slipped in or was thrown in.
