Today I called the sheriff's office and talked to a deputy in the field. He was very cordial; I told him I noticed a small change in Sara's facebook that could have been made by her. It seemed so obvious in his voice that he needed some real news. I wish I had some. Think they may be feeling some discouragement.

I reported the change to the FBI as well. I think they are monitoring Facebook so I probably didn't need to call them. Later today it looked like someone may have hacked the site and modified the Friends. I feel discouraged too. But even though I don't think the tip will help I believe I did the right thing in calling. I hope so.

Yes, always better to call it in. As they say, any detail, no matter how small, can be the one that breaks the case, or adds another piece to the picture.

On second thought I think this site may be getting more activity from some friends. Probably hasn't been hacked. Friends list changes with activity, right?

Not sure why I assumed it was a older model. I couldn't find any information on the year.

I would swear I saw in an early article that it's a 2006, but I can't find it anywhere now.

Facebook changes when friend requests are made but not necessarily accepted yet. Your friendship status will show pending but their activity will be visible on your newsfeed. Did that help? Hope I didn't confuse you...

Locklear is a common Lumbee name,I would not read too much into it.Heather Locklear is part Lumbee.

I'm not. I just thought it was an interesting coincidence. I'm 25% Lumbee myself. I realize it wouldn't be kosher for people to assume I'm involved in someone's disappearance due to my last name. ;)

It has been mentioned upstream that Robeson County is a high crime area. Here's an article from September 2013 talking more about this, sorry if it has already been posted:

"Lumberton - Once again, the most dangerous place in North Carolina is a rural county with a long history if violence. Robeson county, where interstate 95 crosses the state line into South Carolina, had the highest violent crime rate in the state last year."

"...a lot of guns, a lot of drugs..."

"...VPoint on NC 41..."

*this article is very troubling, imo.

Eta: Not only so much crime in general which is troubling, but if her dad was LE, this article sheds light imo on how he could really be a target in a county with a lot of criminal activity...really wondering more about the revenge aspect now... jmo

Eta: Not only revenge, but remember the cheerleading mom case from Channelview TX many years ago? The plot was to commit a murder so that the family would be so distraught and distracted from the cheerleading contest at hand, iirc.

I wonder if her dad was working any cases specifically relating to major drug running?

I'm from NC & never been to Robeson County but for some reason believe it's a smaller town. I know there is a good bit of drug arrests in that area (I have a friend there) but I don't think the RCSD would be the lead agency on any kind of large drug ring (cartel). Nothing against their department I just don't see them having the personnel or money to investigate anything large. Heck I don't think Charlotte would be lead on a very large drug ring, I think that the SBI or DEA would run the show. What I'm saying is that I don't know if the sheriff's department would be the focus of a revenge crime. I could be wrong though. MOO

Either someone does have access to her account and is deleting friends, or the friends themselves are de-friending her page, b/c there are for sure quite a few scrubbed.

Maybe they corrected it when they realized Chevy discontinued the Astro in 2005.

Chevy Astro is a rear-wheel-drive midsize van that was offered from 1985 through the 2005 model year. Astro was available in Passenger and Commercial Van body styles, and an extended-length version, called Astro EXT, was introduced in 1989. Astro was an excellent choice for large families, for towing and for commercial use.

That would explain it :) I don't pay attention to vans the way I do pickups and muscle cars.

This is a good point. I just can't help but wonder what and who Sara's father might have come across as an LE officer., and if this could possibly have anything to do with Sara's disappearance. Same with Sara's stepmother as a juvenile detective.

Eta: With "36" different agencies working the case including the FBI I am sure (I would think) all the cases associated with her father, particularly recently, are being looked through with a fine toothed comb. Jmo

Here's another article I came across fwiw about the crime in Robeson County:

I imagine it's because this is bringing them a lot of unwanted attention at their site.

So, with the proximity to the SC border, again can not help wonder if for some reason a perp might have thought it would be beneficial to take her across state lines, perhaps a little more off local LE's radar? I am reminded of a case (drug related) in Colorado where a young man's body was found about an hour away over the state line in Wyoming. His body was found near a ditch / bridge.

From a mapping perspective, if one wanted to do a quick dump (I hate to type that) across the state line, what might that look like?
www.mapquest.com
Eta: Dillon.... Bennettsville and Marlboro (Cheraw State Park? Sand Hills State Forest?) seem fairly close to the border if I'm looking at this correctly.. argh, this is such a needle in a haystack, she could be anywhere :(

I'm also curious to know how often statistically a body is dumped across a state line, particularly if it is close to a state border.

Where the heck is this sweet girl? I hate this!

This is the area in Fairmont on Jenkins Rd where her last ping came from shown here @ about 49 secs

Jumping off your post, and looking at this on a map again http://www.mapquest.com/#a5018aa80b617571d5b181a8 , there is a Bullard and Branch Hunting Preserve off 74. There also appear to be some other hunting preserves in the area. I know this is all reaching/speculation, but we have seen in many cases how hunting lands often play a role.
