"On her personal Facebook page, Greywind had posted periodic pregnancy updates, including a sonogram image taken at Sanford Health Clinic. On Aug. 13, a week before her disappearance, she posted an excited message: “A little bit more things & we will almost have everything for our baby. Getting so close,” she wrote, adding a heart emoji.

Her due date was Sept. 20. She was expecting a baby girl, the Forum said."

The baby is Native American.
Savanna is Spirit Lake, as is her boyfriend and father. Her mother is Turtle Mountain.
I am not sure about the situation with tribal elders, but I don't see that as a delay in this matter.
They are just waiting for the DNA results. I am pretty sure everything else has been handled and arrangements made with the tribes.

The ICWA specifically states that the tribe of the minor child's parents and their family have adoption rights. Turtle Mountain will not be in any way involved unless all members of spirit lake who are related wave their right to adoption. Assuming the child has enough blood quantum to be enrolled in the tribe on their own, this is even more true.

As seen in the above link, the tribe has ultimate jurisdiction about the succession of custody, if the child is shown to be Savannas.

It looks like the experts/researchers are noting some of the differences in this case as opposed to other fetal abduction cases - something we sleuthers have also been doing for the last day or two:

Most often, Rabun said, a woman in a failing relationship will fake a pregnancy to keep a partner from leaving or divorcing her. As the alleged due date nears, she becomes desperate to obtain a newborn, so she will kidnap or murder a woman in the late stages of pregnancy and remove the baby.

"This actually takes some fairly detailed planning," Rabun said. "Usually, the woman who needs the baby will befriend the pregnant woman. She'll play on the common bond of them both being pregnant, even though she really isn't pregnant. She'll gain trust however she can."

The Fargo case would be significantly different in one way, however—the man. Hoehn was arrested for kidnapping, the same as Crews, indicating his participation in the alleged crime.

"What's unusual in this case is you have both a man and a woman," said Ann Burgess, a Boston College nursing professor who was a lead researcher in a 2002 study on newborn kidnapping by Caesarean section. "If it turns out to be what we're talking about, it would be unusual because, in most cases, the man is just on the periphery. He isn't part of what's going on until after the fact."

I know we don't yet have a lot of information but from what we do know, AFAIK BLC didn't post anything on her FB about expecting a baby, apart from a possible rumor that she had claimed to someone that she was pregnant (was that msm or just a rumor?) Did anyone manage to see her page early on? I don't know if she scrubbed posts after Savanna went missing.

Beyond that though there also doesn't seem to be any evidence that Savanna and BLC were friendly. And what part did WH play? He certainly wasn't ignorant of what transpired.

Fargo Police and volunteer search parties investigate new leads in the search for Savanna Greywind

http://www.valleynewslive.com/conte...the-search-for-Savanna-Greywind-441830083.htm

'The tips lead searchers back to a more specific location within Buffalo State Park and a park in the Moorhead area. They also continued to focus on the leads they had in the Trollwood park area. Despite the leads and tips gathered, there are still no official signs of Savanna.'

Is there a difference between 'no signs of Savanna' and 'no official signs of Savanna'?

"Through Friday night into Saturday volunteers followed up on multiple strong leads. Family spokeswoman MJ Krogh said, "basically we've moved into a lot of different areas throughout a 12 mile radius now instead of a two.""

Snip

"The week has taken a toll on the family and volunteer searchers, with Krogh saying "it seems like it's a huge puzzle and the pieces are starting to come together but we'll never have every piece... until Savanna's family has her.""

Krogh went on to say the family is focusing on the joy of possibly bringing home the baby girl found on Thursday afternoon once DNA tests and proper paperwork has been completed.

If you have not read post #6 and thanked it please do so now. :tyou:

I read it but I'm on my phone and my thanks button disappeared awhile back. I can't see any thanks either :(

In addition to this, won't the biological father have a legal claim (different tribe than Savanna's?) to the child IF he can demonstrate that he's prepared to provide good care. Will Savanna 's parents want custody of the baby? (Same tribe as Savanna). While it seems Savanna's family and Ash are on the same page of their concern/grief, it doesn't necessarily mean they each won't want to assume responsibility for the baby. Suppose custody is determined and Savanna returns (unlikely, I know)... Another reason why CPS needs to be cautious while sorting our complicated details.

I hope that since Ash and Savanna basically grew up together her family is close to him and they can all be supportive of each other and raise the baby with the same love that Savanna would have. I'm sure the grief is absolutely overwhelming.

That applies if there is no parent who can take the child. This baby has a father.

Even if the father were to not be declared fit to take care of the child, it would not go to turtle mountain family members. That is the point I was trying to make.

Either way, the child WILL stay with family and tribe members as it is illegal to take a native child from their tribe unless there are literally 0 suitable homes.
