Not knowing the circumstances of the living arrangements, I can't jump to the conclusion that something is off with the roommate. When my dad was in his early thirties he had a roommate who spent most of his time at his girlfriend's place. He kept a room with my dad in case they broke up because it was a new relationship. This other guy was my dad's roommate but we rarely saw him. If he went missing we probably wouldn't have known. This type of arrangement is not especially uncommon, at least not in my experience. I also know of quite a few roommates who simply share a roof but have no interaction with each other; it's a living arrangement but not a friendship. On the other hand, if the roommates were close, both frequented the house, or they texted each other then I would have more questions. At this point I haven't read anything that describes the relationship the roommates had.

“Renting a room” from a woman is not always the same as being a roommate. I would imagine with housing costs, a lot of people rent rooms where they can find them...not really being “roommates” but more like residents in a boarding house of the old days. Their movements or absences would not be tracked...anyway...jmo.

I just started following this thread. I am wondering if April said, “taking the trash out” and the roommate went to bed. Maybe went to work in the morning and did not notice April never returned from taking out the trash. That would make sense with the last time being seen. But of course the 5 days is odd.

Yes. I don't wait around to see when someone comes back from taking out the trash. I've hollered for one of my kids to take it out when I'm in bed at night. If they didn't come back in, I wouldn't know it until the next day. Even then, I could not confirm that they hadn't come back in and then left again. Of course, it depends on the size and makeup of your home.

You will have to hunt a bit for it but April's sister has a (now closed) fundraiser on facebook for gas cards and money for fliers for April. If you go to her (the sister's, N.B.) personal facebook page she posts a photo of a man that was near or with April when she went missing. I can't link as it's rumor only at this point.

Why didnt the roommate report her missing?

I can't believe there's no real update yet - yikes. I think it's odd that you'd be in close enough contact to know when she was taking out the trash but then not know she wasn't there for nearly a week as well - especially since the detail of her being in pajamas and slippers came from (I assume) the same person. That's a lot of detail to then not notice she was missing immediately following that IMO - but who knows what her day to day life was like. Hope there's news soon.

Just a guess but I'm thinking her day to day life could have been chaotic with lots of time away from the place where she technically resided.

@GraceG I saw confirmation of this name and the relationship to April in other places as well, as far back as February.

IMO this is one of those cases where police have a good theory of what happened and who was involved, one that they have shared with the family. Very sad that they either haven't been able to locate their POI or get that person to talk.

It could be that they were both leaving at the same time--April with the trash, roommate heading to their car to leave for work, or something. If their schedules didn't overlap much, it could conceivably be a while before they realized April wasn't there.
Or they saw her heading out with the trash just as they were heading to bed, but didn't wait for her to come back in.
