Even thought high stakes gambling was in line with his normal behavior, I have a feeling the spate of 40,000 dollar poker hands reported before the attack are representative of him knowing he would be dead in a matter of days. Suicidal behavior. A last giant "hurrah". He had to know if he left an enormous amount of cash asset behind it would be taken in the aftermath due to civil lawsuits etc. He was a meticulous planner.

Steve Stevens Facebook killer killed old man walking down street after gambling. He was a gambler as well.

I removed my post. A lot of folks say now that it was a strobe light flashing beside the flashing sign.

Ok. The flashes that I see, going from left to right at the lower section of the screen are reflections of moving car lights (if you look closely you can even see the car reflections in the windows).

Geez GARDENISTA who ever thought we'd be getting updates/scoops from TMZ? Nonetheless (thanks TMZ) the booking in August.....Did he take his gf with him? Did he tell her he was going to a concert without her? If indeed she was "agreeable" to not wearing perfumes, etc (really weird info btw.....their first dates must have been awkward to say the least.) "I'd hug you good night if you didn't wear perfume." Sorry, but that spiked the weird meter!! Also gave SP excuse for not socializing with brother & others....I am allergic to your grooming products.??? Kind of seeing a lot of "BS" in his excuses, cuz different hotels use different cleaning products and detergents....none of those seemed to bother the high roller, huh??)
"It has long been known that people suffering schizophrenia and other forms of psychosis are often unable to correctly identify smells." (google it) But I digress....
More layers being revealed.....

Or increasing isolation as a result of deepening depression

mo there is a huge myth regarding depression/ mental illness and suicide in that belief it is typically an impulsive event

Unless one is psychotic or delusional in most instance it is years of battling the impulse not to succumb

Men tend to successfully complete first attempt, more violent , hide desires more often than woman.

I am confident folks would acknowledge afterwards that there really signs for a very long time that went unnoticed because as a society , here in America , it can remain a not a crippling medical condition but not pulling oneself up by bootstraps.

In a perverted classic way (giving things away the closer person gets) he gave money away

if brothers reports are anywhere accurate it seems the system defined themselves by money

dad robbed banks !

IMO the escape plan is questionable -- he sent her away gave some money to her and wanted to know when he was close to being stopped - so he could kill himself as opposed to death by cop

Depressive stuff mo

I am not trying to argue a point here, but I AM happy to see this...

Sorry if someone has asked before, but I just dont get the financial aspect of this guy.
Four brothers raised without father, read somewhere they were poor, he is a mailman and an accountant and then suddenly becomes an estate mogul or something with planes and a high roller in casinos. Has anyone figured that part out where this became a rags to riches story.
Is this a typical American life story or am I as a non-american missing something here?
Hiya KOMODO Nice to have you here! :welcome4::welcome4: For a first post, you squarely "hit the nail on the head." I sure wish I could look at his tax returns and match them up with his real estate transactions......
One of my first questions would be, why pay 396K cash for a house, when he could have gotten a loan at 3 1/2%?? If he was such a "good and successful gambler" he no doubt would make more than 3 1/2% at a casino, or why bother? (Hope that makes sense)
Even if you own a building....one still has taxes, insurance, upkeep, gardeners, repairs, common utilities, mgmt fees, vacancy factors etc. Sure real estate investing can produce positive cash flow (usually better than a CD.). I just can't wrap my head around him having a sustainable source....at least not enough for a gambler's lifestyle.
Maybe he got a recent tax bill for not reporting recaptured depreciation.....or deferred capital gains finally caught up with him?
The sheriff (gotta be tired) implied there might be a "political angle" in this.....obviously no one was depriving him of his 2nd Amendment Rights....so what was it?

I live in CA just heard on my local news because of this massacre people learning about bump stocks they are sold out everywhere or backordered.

Isn't that just great? I suppose more of these automatic weapon mass shooting here in near future.

There will be tremendous public and political pressure on LE and FBI to lay the blame on some 'living person' in some way. I just hope if
M.D. is truly innocent, that she doesn't get railroaded as an accomplice. She better tell the absolute truth about
everything if she wants to come out clean.
The fact that she was out of the country when this went down does not look good for her.
I've heard L.E. say during many high profile investigations, "There are NO co-incidences".

Agree its just less our responsibility if it is something else other than mental illiness

(link snipped by me, because it's probably not allowed here, not being MSM)

IMO, those flashes are the reflection of car lights driving by on the street... you can even see a red tail light at one point.
Or people in rooms filming the mayhem with their flash on/taking pictures.
It wouldn't work due to flashback. In the heat of the moment it may have taken them a min. to figure that out.
MOO

Sadly, that is not all that surprising to me.

I posted a post about the researched evidenced based link between Pathological Gamblers and Cluster B personality Disorders, which include Antisocial Personality Disorder, Narcissistic Personality Disorder and Borderline Personality Disorder and histrionic. There is a very strong link between the two. They found Cluster A and C personality disorders as well but the strongest presence appears to be Cluster B.

I think I posted it in thread 2 at the beginning.

Yes, it's confusing. The picture below shows the location of the flashing light, circled in red:

AP: “Bump stocks” were originally intended to help people with limited hand mobility fire a semi-automatic without individual trigger pulls

** 'Gotta wonder how many human beings with limited hand mobility needed these???

·NBC News: In addition to Paddock's searches for hotels near Fenway he also searched for the Boston Center for the Arts.
NBC News: The FBI and Boston Police have been in contact since last night discussing the searches of Stephen Paddock and ties to the city.

The entire building seems to be designed to be reflective. Like a giant mirror. Light plays tricks, especially in a city of lights like Vegas. There was only one shooter at the Mandalay as far as LE has reported at this point. And only two broken windows apparent on the entire face of the building that are visible after the shooting.

I am a staunch Second Amendment supporter. I want bumpstocks and related technology illegal as quickly as possible.

He had multiple properties and a home, 90 miles from the shooting. Most people age with some amount of regret and sadness and do not become deranged mass murderers. He had a girlfriend. He apparently LOVED to gamble, speculate, and take financial risks. From all of the information released he chose and loved his lifestyle. There has to be a stressor or an event in his life. There always is before suicide and homicide in general. I am not saying I know what it is and I am not saying that it would excuse anything. One thing I know, It was NOT cognitive decline. He was way too methodical and organized for that. In the end, we may never know. But something occurred, something changed, and brought alive what may have been inside of him for 64 years on some level. You don't wake up one day and become a mass murderer. It's not random.

IMo childhood molds all - how could it not

based on the brothers ramblings as it relates to money (he even proclaimed it in his stuff is my job as the male is to provide)

so if the reality is all this wealth the brother believes his daddy figure has (resulting in idealization) in conjuction that they texted once in what half a year I just dont get the sense that these two were sharing details of their life experiences with one another

sounds like a superficial distant relationship

I just cant imagine perp sharing with his brother who adores him because he might be the only person in his life who thinks he is this profound success --

don't think he would text him and let him know he almost broke (if that is the case)

I am a meat and potatoes man, I smoke like a dragon for decades gone by! I believe humans are carnivores!

You ask what on earth is the relevance of this thus far

well (thankfully I can answer ha! ) thats funny

Sushi know nothing about Sushi if it does not bleed it is not for me! Broccoli is disgusting !

SO...............................all this silliness from the brother going and eating thousands and thousands and thousands of dollars of Sushi in one sit down can a party of 4 fit thousand and thousands and thousands of dollars of sushi in ones belly?

It is an insane definition of amazing weath but I must ask -- is it possible to spend that much on a sitting of sushi!!!

The brother imo has many signs of bipolar with a delusional flair to it!

BBM,

He reads manic to me. In both interviews. Intense Anxiety can also read this way. But the second interview presents the same way, if not worse. We don't know enough about him to say, but yeah, he really does sound manic. Speech is pressured. Thought Content is tangential. He perseverates on wealth. It is all off.

IMO

Just moo people that are up to machine gunning as many people to death as possible are not really concerned with being law abiding citizens!

I am not being snarky -- I just believe as society there are too many dangerous things all ready out there and the reality is until we focus on the real issues that have nothing to do with terror our mass shooting numbers will continue to be miles above industrialized nations.

This is a social issue for America after 911 the number of Americans killed by terrorists is nothing

mass shootings on the other hand...

more Americans die by rolling out of their beds

cars

falling off ladders

its a distraction from our problems

its a hangover from the 50's 60's we are the mightiest greatest smartest richest nation on the planet check out global ratings -- its like 900 parameters around the globe

We soar at murder ,, war we are a very disturbed nation -- and as long as it a them thing

duck buy bullet vests or stay home

sorry .............. the truth is tough

here is a baby one

there is one out there that is like incredible and valid data
