People who thought they were hearing gun shots from different directions is understood. But some people truly have difficulty in normal situations locating the direction of sound. It happens to me and my mom constantly. Add the fear, stress, and chaos and I think more mistakes will be made.

It's even worse when you have echos of gunfire bouncing off surrounding structures, as well as the crack of the supersonic rounds passing by. :moo:

One of my first questions would be, why pay 396K cash for a house, when he could have gotten a loan at 3 1/2%?? If he was such a "good and successful gambler" he no doubt would make more than 3 1/2% at a casino, or why bother? (Hope that makes sense)

Being a good gamb ler may not yield big profits. Consider the following:

SP could well have been an intelligent gambler who after years of mind numbing playing, figured out portions of the algorithms that generate the “random” (but not truly mathematically random) card hands on video poker machines. Like many such gamblers, he apparently had a strong preference for certain types of machines that he knew well.

This knowledge allows him to break even or even gives him a long term mathematical edge over the house if he plays the machine near perfectly for long periods of time. But…. SP's edge is probably small.

Casinos are aware of people like him and switch out algorithms, get better ones etc. This forces hard core gamblers to relearn the machines. Let’s say his edge was 3%. He would need to funnel 1 million dollars through the machines to gain $30,000. 2 million for $60,000 etc. Though he was relatively wealthy, he may of not had the cash flow to really capitalize on his 3% edge.

Yep. I'd be willing to bet he was more in it for the free perks and comped items than actually making profits off of the gambling itself. :moo:

-Picking up from a closed thread on this. We got cut off before moving to the next. The total before tax & tip was $68ish. Soup, bagel and a burger...with ‘added caramelized onions’. There was a line item for the tip amount. Someone mentioned the tip possibly being auto generated. The total didn’t reflect an auto 16% being added. The tip was less than 20%, it was $6-7ish. With that much wealth, generosity and cash, as per Eric, why wouldn’t he give cash? It was MSM mentioned that he was cheap, and this fits.

I'm no math (or gratuity) expert, but by my reckoning $10 is roughly 16% of $68.

I just asked siri and she says it's about $10.88. Good job!

I also noticed there were two lines on the receipt, one for gratuity and one for tip. $0 and $10.

Eric Church, one of the headliners at the concert, speaks:

Receipt says gratuity 0 tip 10

So is the 16% added to the cost of each iten

typically it comes out in gratuity so you can determine what extra you want to add
There was no automatic gratuity; MB may not automatically charge it for certain members, or for certain reasons. He left a $10 tip on his own. JMO

To piggyback off my last post, now that I'm just about caught up: the software I learned about, is made to find connections between people. It's quite intricate, and I would butcher any explanation. But if someone helped him, the FBI WILL find out who.

Oh geez....Six Degrees of Separation via Silicon Valley Software. It gave the big brother is watching heebeee geeebees. They have already counted the millions of people who have googled his name and ever lived in Florida, Texas, Calif & Nev. and owned a cell phone?.
It is bad enough trying to explain my search history to my husband some days....now this? (Minority Report Precogs coming soon?)

I have heard about him booking rooms, etc at other outdoor concerts but nothing happened. Some have speculated he "chickened out" or something. But I wonder if he wasn't using them as dry runs to learn from. Hauling all his weapons across the country would have been a pain, but it would make sense for him to go to these events just to see how they looked and get a feel for them. I do find it a bit surprising that he hadn't booked the Mandalay suite in advance. You would think he would have wanted to guaranty he got that reserved well in advance to make sure it was available. Or maybe he did. The information about the room booking and when he arrived is still a bit murky.

So, devastated Eric wants to cash in despite the fact that his brother "made him rich"......and the beat goes on..... JMO

OH I bet someone out there will give him money, maybe not what he's asking for but something.

The other concerts angle is puzzling as well. I know that he did not attend Lollapalooza, and he only researched the Boston activities. As for the Vegas event, he rented the room, but I haven't seen anyone clarify that he was actually there or not. The sheriff did mention they're not sure if he was conducting presurveillance or what, last night, so I'd imagine he was actually at the first LV event.

I wonder if he had decided on a different concert, but heard about this one at the last minute. I don't know, just an idea.

One thing I am curious about... The sheriff estimated about 200 rounds were fired into the hallway. That is quite a substantial amount.

I'm not sure this photo of the exterior of the room would support nearly that amount of fire through the hall, unless the bottom of the door literally has a giant hole in it. There are only 9 rounds visible. Multiply what you see by 20, and you're still not at 200 rounds. JMO

Good point, and I think you could well be right.

Your point mirrors what SP's brother seemed to indicate during an interview when he emphasized the perks, comps and probably fawning that casinos provide for SP and other "whales" (even though SP was on the small end of the whale spectrum).

I can see a possible motive:

- Though SP was far from bankrupt, perhaps he no longer had sufficient cash flow to generate enough "play" to sustain his life style as a “small whale” high stakes gambler. The fawning attention, cool perks and comps from casinos was the only thing that gave his life meaning. He then decides that if he can’t enjoy life anymore, he is going to commit suicide and take others with him?

I'm reading backwards, because like I almost always do... I'm late in the conversation.

Anyway, it may have been posted here already, but there is a photo, I think from the Daily Mail that shows a meal cart outside of the door to his room. I noticed there were plates for two as well as two bottles of water. If I see that it hasn't already been posted here, I will try to remember to look for it and post the photo.
