But at the same time, Feldman admits it can be tough today to distinguish what is legal from what is not.

Alan Feldman continued, "Let's face it, Las Vegas is a city where people come to party and to let their hair down. So trying to discern whether that's adults consenting to do what adults are allowed to do versus a business transaction that's against the law can sometimes be very gray."

Former prostitute Kathleen Mitchell, who speaks out against prostitution today, says most of the casinos are quick to toss out any working girl who doesn't keep a low-profile but that doesn't always keep them away.

"There are women in and out of the casinos," Mitchell said. "If the girl is slick enough or quiet enough, they may turn a blind eye and let her be as long as she doesn't rob anyone or until she becomes noticeable, then they'll throw her out."

I really doubt it.

I really doubt it.

Doubt what if I may ask? What the ex-prostitute said about some being able to do business in the casinos if they are slick and smart enough to not make waves?

I often gamble at the table card games where gamblers sit together. I don't think I would recognize a hooker over it being someone's girlfriend or wife or just a friend.

To be fair, there's a large difference between a prostitute blending in and not being caught, versus a hotel/casino actively supporting prostitutes, paying them, and pimping them out.

Agree. Casinos are highly regulated and face a lot of scrutiny. Plus most major casino resorts on teh strip don't want a sleezy image. They know there is prostitution going on, will throw out prostitutes that are obvious, but probably don't go looking for it. But they aren't going to be actually involved in the trade. That would open the door to all sorts of legal issues, from endangering their casino license to revenue agents looking into stuff. They don't want anything to do with that.

I dont think any of us know. All we know at this time is the Sheriff said it was not a suicide note.

I hope at some point they will release a copy of the note, maybe someone in the public can make something of it or recognize something from it.
Shooter was a smart, methodical man, so maybe its a puzzle or a clue to something. But I also look at him and his actions and wonder if there wasn't a seriously deteriorating mental condition and that this note may be just gibberish.

Casinos are very highly regulated and I doubt they would risk federal charges, etc, so a hooker can turn a trick.

(Hi Elley Mae, you have reminded me, I was thinking about starting a thread to help sort out all the Ellies...there are so many, I'd like to get a handle on who's who. Second thread I'm in the process of starting is a resource thread, "DNA: When did it come back?". It's seems this is the main question in many cases at some point, so I thought we could begin a thread with specific examples, anyway, o/t, making a note to remember.)

(DNA thread mentioned above has been created, maybe someone wants to submit input from this case, how long it took to ID the victims, please feel free:

DNA: How long did it take to get it back?

I am not the poster you questioned but I do believe it is going to become harder and harder for us to access many news site artlices online due to them now wanting people to subscribe in order to read what they have printed. If I click on any link requiring a subscription to read I simply do not so therefore I don't get to read the entire article. There are many others who do not demand payment to read their articles online. So I search for the same information mentioned, and find the same information from another news site or cable news channel.

I have already run into this problem several times concerning articles which have been linked here about this case. Some of them I would never join even if it was free, nor would I normally ever read them in the first place, and certainly wouldn't pay to read their online articles. Many such media have had to do this because their newspapers are majorly falling with the amount of people willing to buy their newspapers now.

JMO
People read online now instead of getting hard copies. You can't pick up a newspaper without paying, so just because the method of reading has changed doesn't mean that journalists do not need to get paid.

Washington Post has 6 months free, I believe, if you have Amazon Prime and then a very minimal fee thereafter. NY Times and Washington Post have discounts on subscriptions for students and educators as well. Although I have little money I am happy to subscribe to at least one of the major newspapers. The others who offer everything for free often have annoying amounts of advertising to pay for it and sometimes also have less credibility.

I'm guessing the portion of the door we can't see (middle and upper section) has LOT of holes in it!

Maybe it seems unusual the the other door panel has NO bullet holes in it... what with the way the barrage would've sprayed... but maybe he had that bi-pod thing set up close and only pointed at the one panel?

Cheapskate and a casino high roller. Do frugal people go into the casino at all? He sure must have enjoyed the casino comps.
Something about this guys finances bothers me.

Anecdotal evidence but my husband's stepmother is a tightwad and goes to the casino all the time. She coupons and buys Christmas presents from yard sales, thrift stores, and clearance racks but is totally OK with hitting up the casino 4-5 times a week to play penny slots.

I noticed that as well and wondered why no holes in the other door. I would not have thought he would have used the tripod to shoot through the door, but rather just hand held it. But several of the weapons I saw had their own bi pods that you would use if laying down on teh floor/ground and firing. That could explain the few low holes we see. But not higher up on the door. For some reason he only fired through that one door. Maybe he had something on his side of the other door he didn't want to shoot at, something bullet proof for protection when the police arrive. Just a thought. Or maybe for some reason he was trying to miss the security guard on purpose (hard to believe seeing he murdered so many others). Not sure. But i think it must have been intentional that he only fired through one door. By the way, the door to the adjoining room appears to be a heavy steel door from what I saw on the Madalay Bay website room virtual tour.

I don't think his girlfriend knew anything about his plans, I could be wrong but just a feeling I get. Also I recently read a book on a British serial killer and after they searched his house they said they could find nothing that would hint that he was a serial killer, in fact they found nothing that would indicate he actually lived there, aside from clothes etc. It was like there was no personal belongings . They said he lived there but he wasn't comfortable to be himself there. Afterwards they found a place where he felt comfortable and that's where they found all his trophies, at the bottom of a lake.
I think we will find the shooter had some sort of lock up where he kept all his obsessions, artefacts, and even trophies, it's just a case of when it will be found in moo.

It's been reported that he had a peephole camera in the door to help him see what was going on outside. The door that was not damaged has the peephole in it. Perhaps he didn't want to damage that?

p.s. that might explain why the upper part of the damaged door appears to be absent holes too?

As for a possible motive, I think it may be to do with his father, maybe he held a grudge towards the police/authority for taking his father out of his life.

Has it been verified that killer was indeed prescribed Valium? I may have missed it trying to catch up but do remember hearing/seeing it??? Interesting choice as it is an old school med. Combining this drug and alcohol is not a good mix. Not suggesting it led to this at all. IMO he is a narcissistic psychopath (pure evil and methodic) who "may" or "may not" have a mental health issue.

I haven't run into any of those sites who have annoying amounts of ads that interferes with me reading any of the articles. There are plenty of trustworthy news sites online who offer the same information without having to subscribe or pay. So I have no need nor any desire to subscribe to the ones who may give Amazon Prime members discounts of which I am a member.

There is nothing written online by any news publishers that cant be found elsewhere. In fact at times I become aggravated at times at how so many supposedly MSM reputable news organizations do nothing but copy and paste AP news reports.

The very ones you have listed may be the very ones many others find untrustworthy. It is a matter of choice for the individual reader as it should be. So for now, I do not have any need to go through a pay wall in order to read what has been printed. I am what is called a news junkie and have never been shut out from finding the information I wanted to read and I have never had to resort to paying for it.

Should that time come, I will select the one, I feel is the most trustworthy among all of the rest. When an article is linked here, and is behind a pay wall, I simply search for the information elsewhere, and have no problems finding it. In fact many of the other sites can reveal even more detailed information than what was supposedly in the pay wall news site.

JMO though

No I wasn't aware of that. Weren't bump stocks approved in 2010?

BATF ruled that bump stocks did not violate the National Firearms Act about that time. NFA is the law that greatly restricted ownership of fully automatic firearms and prohibited modification of firearms or selling kits to make them fully automatic. The NFA defines fully automatic as firing more than one bullet with a single pull of the trigger. Since bump stocks simply automate pulling the trigger they don't fit the NFA definition of fully automatic.
