Another possible clue that SP was more than likely a cocaine user (as is brother E. IMO), cocaine irritates the lining of the nose and creates abnormal sensitivity. If we could see videos of SP maybe we would also see the sniffiling of his sensitive coke nose.
the gloves he wore in everyday life could have been some OCD habit. wonder how often he washed his hands?
Did he ever go to Dr. for his 'supposed' hand skin allergy?

So now we're hearing he got prescriptions for Valium in 2016 AND 2017.
SP was right age as Coke became very popular in 80's. Coke was their uppper and they took other things for their
downers/relaxers such as pills or pot. the overly confident, cocky, arrogant attitude certainly fits also.
Have known other men similar to SP and they do not "love" their women- they "need" and "use" women but there's
no love involved.
And yes domestic violence is often involved, as is a string of broken relationships.
MLD may only be of limited help to LE, depending on her life experience and knowledge of "men", relationships, and
how educated she was. to some women, being treated like a dishrag is normal. they accept this because they may not know better or they were raised to just accept it.

I think we're getting a better picture of the loose screws in this family due to brother's performances for media.
Again, I would surmise some horrible treatment of SP in his childhood.
Did his mother have bf's while husband was in jail? Was father Paddock a mean SOB to his son, SP?

I still believe this was a 'spectacular suicide' for SP and he just went out in a 'bigger than life' manner, which in many ways, how he lived his life in his later years. SP equated the big money to himself to prop up his low self esteem, as he truly had a very poor self-image in spite of trying to act big. Just my opinion, but to me, it's a pretty clear picture.
And yes, I believe he had an 'addictive' personality'. Whether it was too many guns, round the clock gambling,
substance abuse- too much alcohol, or drugs, he was not 'normal' or well adjusted.
Lack of empathy and compassion, YES, but also NO MORALS. No inner filter to guide him. Life is all about pleasure-
for him, no one else. No, he was not 'loveable', he couldn't even love himself.
SP grew up a sad, lonely child- devoid of love, compassion and empathy but amongst violence. No parental guidance
on the rules of being a good son or citizens (morals). All about pleasuring him. His emotional growth was stunted.
Lots of these guys walking among us. Watch out!

I believe he was seething inside for a long long time- i also believe he quietly had fantasies of killing lots of people and finally brought his fantasies to fruition. Lots of planning went into the horror he committed--

AFAIK his actual injuries haven’t been disclosed. I’m personally starting to think he accidentally shot himself (ricochet or otherwise), and he could only hold out 10 minutes or so before he became ineffective and decided to end it.

JMO
I agree that that is a possibility.

Wildly wielding his guns all around the place could cause an accident to himself if he made the slightest mistake. And in the confusion that was sure to be going on in that room I could see where he may have accidentally shot himself.

Especially since he was grabbing at multiple weapons. All it would take is for him to hold one wrong and bump the trigger accidentally. For example he could have grabbed the barrel of one of the rifles and bumped the trigger with his clothing.

There is the one photo i saw which looks like he is laying on the floor with a rifle nearby and maybe a handgun in his hand. So he may have just decided to shoot himself too with the handgun as the door was breached.

I think I would have to guess he used the handgun to take himself out rather than let LE arrest him. I think he was a coward at heart and did not want to face what was coming to him after what he just did.

I think he mistakingly thought they would not figure out what room he was in for longer time. I think he became surprised how fast people started coming to the door when the security guard first approached. Once he shot through the door at the guard I think he felt the noose tightening and became more scared of the door rather than shooting at more people outside. Which could explain some of the long delay in shots being heard. I am convinced the security guard saved lives that day by distracting him at least for a bit of time.

I think he probably sat there near where his body was found and when the door was finally breached he fired the final shot into himself. I am guessing he shot himself in the chest towards his heart as he was probably afraid of shooting himself in the head.
We hear of lots of suicides where people shoot themselves in the head but there are others I have read about where the person cannot get themselves to shoot themselves in the head so they shoot themselves in the chest toward the heart. I am taking a guess this is what he may have done. Its either that or LE shot him right after they breached the door which is also likely could have happened.

Just guessing as to what his last moments could have been like. The pictures we have seen tell some of the story.

The brave security guard and the brave LE who breached the door have the rest of the story.

Considering police apparently haven't heard when he specifically shot himself, he could have shot himself before police ever even showed up at his door.
Per the new timeline, he shot security guard six minutes before he started shooting concert goers. When police made it to his door some 18 minutes after he shot the security guard, shooting already stopped, and as far as I can tell they haven't heard any additional shots. So he could have already shot himself dead before they ever made it to his door.

I just watched FOX news to see what was being said, literally spent 30 seconds saying the timeline had changed, shooter did mass shooting after shooting security guard and then...... went to another story!! I was screaming at the tv. So I switched to CBS, HLN, and now watching MSNBC and NONE HAVE MENTIONED IT!
Nothing to see here, move along folks.

That's a possibility. There is a stain on his shirt. It could be from accidental injury. Then he shot himself in the head. Could be before police even made it to his door.

Could he have been there to sell the guns?

Could SP have mistaken the security guard for police?

Why the 6 minutes in between the guard being shot and the crowd below?

If he wanted to sell his guns, he would have sold his guns. As far as i can tell, there is nothing illegal about him selling his guns.

Things that don't make sense with new timeline........if 200 rounds were fired at security guard, why only a leg wound? Six minutes of calm before the storm?

Somehow I had previously put it together the the security guard was injured during initial response from LE at 10;16/17 So now I am confused at what happened when LE did approach door prior to SWAT at 11:20

And the gun running angle doesn't make a lot of sense, if that's what's being implied. Gun runners don't buy their easily traceable guns from a local gun shop, with their actual name and information on the 4473. That's like, the opposite of what you'd do if you were selling guns to some illicit party.

Re BBM
I tend to agree. I think his motive is what you describe in the bolded part. Its the only thing that seems to fit with this strange person.

I am curious to know exactly how much the gambling bets were that particular night. I keep wondering if he went there to try to recover some funds and when his bets went sour he felt he could not come out of it this time. I wonder if he had an all or nothing plan that night. If he lost then he knew what he was going to do.

What doesnt make sense with the theory about his money problems is he could have sold off some things to get some money. Maybe he didnt want to sell off anything because it would ruin the facade he was trying to make others think he was more well off than he really was.

If we knew the exact amounts of all his betting that night it may help to see if money trouble was part of his issues. Maybe his betting that night was larger than any other time. And he may have lost a lot more than he ever has before.

excellent point..
they surely would have cctv on every floor??
possibly LE has the footage..

Doubtful. Earlier in the thread I posted a bunch of links regarding Vegas resorts and their surveillance cameras. Most only have cameras in the casino area. Some have by the elevators but many don’t. Most don’t have in the hotel hallways.

So did Paddock commandeer Brian Hodge's room while he was at a show? 32134 is the second bedroom with the other broken window.

Mr Hodge, who is originally from Wagga Wagga, but has lived in Los Angeles for the past eight years, described seeing the SWAT team storm the hotel.

"The were in the full police gear and we could just see torches, and guns and they were yelling at everybody to 'stay down' or 'put their hands up'."

He said police told him the gunman was in the room 32135, just one room away from his hotel room.
"I'm room 32134 so I'm just so glad I didn't make it back to my room," he said.

Is it? Would it be across from paddock since odd numbers are typically on one side of the hall and even on the other?

Seems clear to me this guy had bigger plans with the explosives. Also, doing his drilling at 10 pm, that according to Lombardo, wasn't even completed, seems very last minute when the concert wasn't going to last that much longer.

Could his plan really have been for another day?

I wonder if he shot the security guard as he was setting up his cameras for the night. It is conceivable that he would have waited until the middle of the set or the finale to inflict "the ultimate damage" but when he encountered the security guard, he had to set up his shooting system fast. This makes sense to me because he had so many guns, so many rounds, why stop early? Why not have all of your cameras set and ready to go if you are using them to help you inflict the most damage? I wonder if he also had the timing of how long it would take for security to get to the floor based on the disturbance calls he made with the thinking that it would talk that long for police to arrive at his door.

The new timeline does really create a conundrum in understanding his thinking and how the events played out.

Friday's presser ought to be interesting with all the backtracking.

-Yes, I think that may be why it’s 4 days from now. They have to regroup and recover for damage control. One-starting over from scratch. Two-give a firm reason for the major mess up.

I can’t believe they did 60Minutes without an accurate account of events. I wonder what happens in a case like this (air time), if there will be legal implications??

I can’t imagine what caused the guard to say he was shot after the spree and then change it?? “If” that is what happened in regards to giving a statement. Could it be that he got caught up in the “Hero” headlines and didn’t want to lose that standing? Because the Sheriff praised him generously.

I wonder if they swabbed security guard Campos for gunshot residue...

-This is the first im hearing about a guest right next door. It says the ‘second bedroom’ with the ‘other’ broken window??? That would be on the same side. Does it mean that SP took his neighbors room over? I’m confused...

Well, the neighbor said he was in 32134 and the NYT identifies that room number as the one we know has the other broken window, so I'm not sure what to think.
