Did FBI speak at pc? Was FBI present? I'm wondering if FBI not co-operating and not providing new info to sheriff.??

Yes, someone from the FBI spoke, a special agent in charge I believe

I guess you edited your comment as I was responding. In reference to that last part, the most telling part is that he only addressed conspiracy theories that directly impacted him and the perception of him and his force. Nothing about Campos. Nothing about ideology. Nothing about multiple shooters. Nothing about anything other than “We’re not incompetent and we aren’t covering anything up.”

Damage control because of poor optics. :moo:

LOL. Did you watch the same presser I did?

Because he did speak about Campos, He did speak on Multiple Shooters (There was one) , He did speak to Ideology. He specifically stated that there is no evidence of extremism or ideology present in relation to the shooter thus far.

Sheriff said there is body cam, security cam and Campos entry in the security log to verify what he did and when. He said after being shot by Paddock, Campos contacted security office by both radio and cell phone. Campos responded to the alarm at 21:59, went up, inspected the door next to Paddock's room that had set off the alarm. Had to go down or up 1 floor to get back to 32 as the door was locked. At 22:05 Paddock shot Campo and Campo contacted security office. Its on hotel video and, apparently, body cam.

Spice, he is responsible for the conspiracy theories by not handling it as he should have to date.
How much time has passed and there was almost no new information.?
What does that foster?
stories,
I'm beginning to think in terms of conspiracies now myself and I never was before.

To withold information for this much time following a mass casualty event when the help of the general public is both requested and needed is to foster a bad climate for co-operation, catharsis or resolution.
We've done more work on websleuths in a single night!!

When conspiracy theories are being utilized to call you incompetent and a liar without any basis in fact, he absolutely has the right to defend himself and his department by addressing them. Also, I do not agree. He could stand up there and provide a litany of detail regarding the investigation, and guess what, there would be a million new conspiracy theories and fake news spawned from that.

Let the man, his department, and the FBI do their investigation. People can criticize , people can question, but that is different than what has been happening . People are lying and accusing and literally creating fake news to inject LIES into what has been released. Remember the "CNN" link that was shared here, accusing Campos of being the second shooter. It is madness. Pure madness.

he read a few things off a page.
Held an attitude of low grade contempt for the job he was doing, to MY eyes, feeble little attempt to see something, say something, Cold . dispassionate. Not gonna be sharing any info throughout the investigation, in line with fbi bs typically.
This investigation will in all liklihood go on for years.
And they wont be sharing any information after it either.

They're still in the midst of an investigation of Paddock. There's still a lot more they want to know about him, his timeline and activities. So, no, they're not going to say a lot until the investigation is complete. Like Columbine, Aurora, CO shooting, Miami nightclub, etc. more details will eventually be made public, but not until they've finished the investigation of Paddock.

He doesn’t have to address any of the conspiracy theories. This isn’t anything new. The only reason he is giving it any attention is he’s coming up for re-election, IMO.

Also no questions. Yep. This is more like damage control than a press conference to put out new information. :moo:
I don't even think I would call it damage control: it reminds me of being in the grocery store with my daughter when she really needs a nap. I really have to shop for groceries, at least a few things , but she is whiny, tired, and I am stressed. She is screaming for toys, candy, Santa, and the Christmas Tree... I will do almost anything to placate her, almost... So I give in, and buy her some grapes and bananas, not enough to spoil her appetite, just enough to quiet her down so I can go back to being invisible in the store, finish my shopping, and get home... I believe the correct word is Appease, to the general public, our dear Sheriff is truly a basket case ... Those TEARS , when he mentioned his deputy that wanted to come back to work... I almost would have thought the gentleman had brain damage, if he had not went into so much detail about his wounds ... Ha,ha,ha...
I am not appeased, rather appalled!
Never, have i seen a publix servant with such thin skin!
Police officers are used to public, private, and internal scrutiny! It goes with the job, and they are more than aware and trained, to take it with a grain of salt, because it demeans their focus. I respect all of you and I will always thank you for your input, opinions , and points of view...
However, I feel like someone has pooped on the world, and is expecting everyone to pick up spoons and call it chocolate...

I hate them probably more than you do and I pursue them as terrorists.
No self respecting LE officer has ever given them the time of day, much less even read the nonsense. They are trained not to go there.

He has chosen to ignore or not take on board his responsibility to make a place feel reassured, to speak from his heart or even to assemble the few facts he has coherently.. there were gaps for the loonies because he left them.
Pressers days apart, on Friday evenings is a tactic of avoidance.

Too scanty info.. no new info.. hardly any info ever, none at all on who the shooter was or even a guess at his motivation...leaves a gaping chasm..
We're not children.

Every single mSM source had already published the correct dates and rationale.
We knew.

All we got is that a brain has been shipped off to a lab somewhere.. what was left of it, at any rate.. I dont even know why they released the initial report saying it was normal ... When was an autopsy report ever released organ by organ?
His brain couldn't have been normal as a bullet or two passed through it?

1. so a human entered the time of call from sg into entry log? no recording? no time stamp? a human.

2. SG "attempted to relay info on wound via his radio and cellphone". did his call go through and to whom? why not say 'he called suzy in dispatch .....'?
22:15 officers arrive- who? regular officers, officers already in casino, SWAT??
4. When did SWAT arrive?

-Agree completely! THESE ARE THE BASICS!!! They lost me at the onset, when they refused to address the very first *starter point. In my opinion without this there can be no credible evidence based timeline. They are dancing all around the phones-radios and logs.
These are not forensics needing lab work, subpoenas, etc.
These are so basic and should be fairly easily identified.
That is different from “manually-phone-radio”. It’s also different because today it specifies “on the wound”
That is double talk, to cover both if needed:
“That was when he notified mystery person on shooter, don’t confuse that now with when he notified mystery person on the wound”

-It all starts with the basic starting point. I think they should be held accountable to that first, before they can proceed another step. ‘First-time obedience’ is the standard, not optional. Great if they find more info on SP, but that does not mean they can skip right over the craziness they have created.

To the bolded part, I agree with your sentiment on conspiracy theories whole heartedly, to the "we are not children" , I wish I could agree, conspiracy theories are beyond juvenile and they are experiencing a terrifying regeneration and front line place in our culture.

I just can't find it in myself to criticize him for becoming emotional and defending himself, his department, and the investigation. Although LE and other disciplines deal with these types of horrors, investigations, and fallout from horrific events like these, he is only human, these professionals are only human. The stress of it all, the grief, has got to be beyond comprehension at this point. I would imagine they are also working around the clock, fatigue has got to be setting in. As far as the brain, I am always in agreement at studying the brain in situations like these. It is our hard drive, and it would be best practice and the right level of due diligence to rule out anything organic disease wise. As for why they stated that his brain was normal before actually studying it, I cannot answer that. I'm interested in all angles though. It think they should study the brain of every single one of these mass shooters. I know they studied Adam Lanza's. And now this guy. I'm not sure of others. But I think it would be best practice. For rule out reasons in assessing behavior.

LOL. Did you watch the same presser I did?

I guess not, because:

Because he did speak about Campos
He gave facts about Campos's role in the timeline, did not address conspiracy theories surrounding Campos, even indirectly. Remember, we were talking about conspiracy theories and Lombardo addressing them.

He did speak on Multiple Shooters (There was one)
He did not address the multiple shooter conspiracy theory. He did not defend that there was only one shooter. He simply said he did not believe there was anyone else out there to pose harm to the community related to 1 October.

He did speak to Ideology. He specifically stated that there is no evidence of extremism or ideology present in relation to the shooter thus far.
This is just flat-out not true. SAC Rouse addressed anything to do with this.

So if you believe that just releasing facts are not enough to mitigate conspiracy theories, all he did was address conspiracy theories relating to himself and the perception of his management and mitigated nothing else. Otherwise, I believe you will find this is an excellent example of addressing conspiracy theories by just releasing facts and leaving it at that.

guess he didn't learn much from his Masters in CRISIS MANAGEMENT.

He did address these items. Campos movements and timeline are verified on video, radio, cell phone call and human entry on security logs. He also said there was no second shooter. All reports from the public were checked out and they found no evidence of one.

As for ideology, the FBI agent said they are still investigating Paddock, his past, associations, timeline, etc.

The investigation will take time,as they all do - Miami Pulse, Columbine, Aurora Theater, etc. If they don't release more information after several months, the public should complain. Given the lawsuits being filed against Mandalay Bay/MGM, I'm not sure how that will affect public release of video, etc. Any attorneys care to weigh in on that?

JMO, if you want to see public frustration, take a look at the Rhoden Murders case. Eight family members killed in 4 different homes on the same night. 1 1/2 yrs later and no information has been released to the public, no arrests, no suspects, everything (including the homes of the deceased) locked up in a warehouse.

So wait. Do you feel that he should actually address conspiracy theories directly? I was under the impression that you felt that his even remotely acknowledging conspiracy theories was inappropriate.

The post states: "all he did was address conspiracy theories about himself" .

And by default, the Investigation, Campos, Ideology, and multiple shooters. I don't understand the point here. Should he have stood up there and spoke on Pizza Gate and The Moon Landing? ,

The post appears contradictory. Do you feel that he should actually address conspiracy theories directly? I was under the impression that you felt that his even remotely acknowledging conspiracy theories was inappropriate, bad optics, and an attempt to conduct "damage control". Which is it?

Thank. You. Betty P. He absolutely did address all of those things. I know what I heard. <modsnip>

I'm saying that he should not have addressed them. You're the one saying he needed to... and I'm saying that the only ones he actually addressed were about himself and his department. The only "misinformation" he was trying to fix was that he was incompetent. Self-serving.

So either 1) you agree that he left a huge gap in not addressing the most rampant conspiracy theories (which your defense of directly addressing them rests on correcting misinformation) or 2) he can address conspiracy theories by simply releasing facts that contradict misinformation and leaving it at that. I personally believe #2, and see him only correcting notions of incompetence as a politician not wanting to look bad before campaign season. :moo:

Special pleading. Stop moving the goalposts. We're talking about directly addressing conspiracy theories to combat misinformation, not if an item was brought up at all during the presser.

Edit to add: Let's revisit my comment, just for clarity:
