Do we have a bail fund here? ;)

If Tricia were here she would write all of the obligatory things about how if you head out to search, you do so on your own but I would definitely contribute towards bail if this were the reason why!!!

Okay, so I drove over there. And I gotta tell you. . .if I didn't know a person disappeared on that street I wouldn't know a person disappeared on that street. If there was a 21st century version of My Three Sons or some 50's type family show, it would take place on that street. Of course, except for the fact that all old people live in the neighborhood.

In any case, I did not see one poster with Steven's picture on it. I am sure the reason for this is because of HOA rules regarding advertising, garage sales, etc. And plus, it has been a month. If you live in that neighborhood and don't know that someone disappeared there, you are never going to know because you are just clueless. So, after a month I don't know what a poster on a telephone pole is really going to do to help Steven's cause.

Next, there is NO way that Steven ended up there by accident. I don't have GPS and so I just looked at an aerial map and kind of memorized how to get there. I did not go the way I am sure Steven went in. There are only two ways to get there. By taking Eastern South from the 215 OR taking I-15 to St. Rose Pkwy to Executive Airport Drive. I am closer to Executive Airport Dr. so I went that way. It is kind of the "back way" in and nobody would ever give somebody directions to go that way unless they were already in the area of the airport or on St. Rose Pkwy. So, I am 99 percent sure Steven would have taken S. Eastern to Anthem Pkwy. It's a simple right then a quick left and down Savannah.

But still, there is no way he just "ended up" there. Did I mention that I even got a bit lost? So, I have lived here 12 years and still it was tough. He would have needed precise directions to get to that street.

I saw the house with the cameras. As you can tell from the aerial views, the cul de sac is not far from that intersection where the cameras are. So, Steven must have sat in his car for at least a couple of minutes because he went by the one camera at 11:54. . .but then does not appear again until 12:00. If he was hustling, he could have easily parked, jumped out and been in front of camera #1 at 11:56. . .easily. So, he dilly-dallied in his car for a couple of minutes. Why? Who knows. I think it is because he did not want to be early.

Savannah Springs is not technically a dead end. Yes, it ends at a turn around but there is a gate there in that cul de sac. If it was open, people could continue down Savannah Springs into the next subdivision. In fact, if I didn't see Steven cross that street to the other side, I would maybe think that he went down Savannah Springs, saw the gate was closed, and decided to just go around by walking. But I don't think that happened because he crossed the street which would be in the opposite direction of where the gate is.

The four houses on the "east side" of Evening Lights Ave. . .just four average looking (for that area) houses. No "For Sale" signs in front of any of them. The one that is most to the North has an American flag out front. The next one down, the owner was washing a car I think, his driveway was all wet. The garage door was up. The next two looked lived in. . .manicured grass, shrubs, etc. . .but did not see any activity. There is no doubt that Steven could have parked in front of any of these houses if he wanted.

What caught my eye the most is that those two houses. . .the ones that showed no activity when I was over there. . .both have casitas. A casita is a room detached from the house. You can see them from aerial views. I thought that they were garages when I saw them in the satellite photos. But, they are actually casitas, "guest rooms". . .very common in newer upper scale houses in Las Vegas. Makes me wonder if Steven was looking for a place to stay? I wonder. The casitas in the most southern two are detached but I think. . .I think. . .not sure. . .the other two houses have casitas but they are attached.

I was actually a bit nervous going over there but it was really nothing. No police. Not a lot of people walking around. I am not sure why that one house has cameras on the outside. That confuses me a bit. . .maybe the guy is just a LITTLE TOO concerned about security.

As for that address given in a previous post. . .that house just looks like any house in the neighborhood. But that address doesn't make any sense to me really. . .because Steven passes that address. In fact, in the video he is never even on that side of the street. By the way, there are no speed bumps there. The different coloring of roadway is a way to channel water. It is like cement or concrette while the rest of the road is some other material. There were no speed bumps in the area. So, I was right in saying that the reason he slowed down was because he was looking for an address on Evening Lights. He slowed down to make sure the street sign was Evening Lights.

I am going to throw something totally out there. . .I know Steven was "religious", etc. But anyone who lives here knows that Vegas is quickly becoming a haven for amateur *advertiser censored*. We have billboards all over the place "Bait and Tackle". But it's not a company that sells fishing equipment. It's a company that is looking to recruit amateur *advertiser censored* actors. It is also common (the only reason I know this is because I have done indie filmmaking here. . .PG/PG-13 stuff, guys. . .but some lighting, sound guys I have worked with have worked on *advertiser censored* sets in Las Vegas). . .but it is not uncommon for some *advertiser censored* "companies" to rent out a vacant house and do their movies there. Steven DID need the money. And a house in Anthem would kind of fit into what I think a *advertiser censored* company would look for. The reason: a lot of these places are operating illegally. . .no blood tests, no condoms, no licenses, etc. . .so they have to do it on the "down low". What better way to get away with it than to do it in a 55+ community?

That's get me to thinking that I have read in the past couple years where escort services, prostitution rings, etc. have been running out of some exclusive neighborhoods in Las Vegas because no one would expect them to be there. . .like hiding right under law enforcement's nose.

That's all I got. If anyone has any questions about my trip or wants me to go back out there, I am up for it but I will not knock on doors. . .I am sure those people have been harrassed enough. Thanks.

I agree with you.

I think they made it up as a joke (judging by the entire website). The "joke" may not be funny to all, but it's nothing I haven't heard coming from guys mouths (i'm a college student) when they are just messing with each other. Could it have a bit of truth? Of course. In my opinion, does it have any truth? No, not just by looking at that web page.

I'm the one who originally found it and posted it on the SL Tribune website, under the first story covering the case. Yes...it sounded like a joke, but too too much. Maybe it's because I have gay friends, and have known people for years who turned out to be gay.

What bothered me, subsequently, is how the pages were wiped clean, leaving only traces on archive.org.

If they were just jokes, why would they be taken down so quickly when someone noticed them? I went there looking for pictures of Steven, because at the time, there were none online.....and that's why I originally posted the link on the Tribune site.

Thanks so much for checking it out fasteddy4!

I haven't been out to SC Anthem since it was brand new and I'm quite sure it's grown significantly since. From the Google map I was viewing, it appeared that the location where Steven's car was found was just over the wall from Anthem Parkway. I realize that Sun City Anthem, technically, would be on both sides of the parkway, but is the location where he was spotted one of many developments within the master-planned community? I'm thinking of it being similar to Summerlin or Southern Highlands, which include many different developments. Would that be correct?

The *advertiser censored*/escort theory certainly makes as much sense as anything else that's been considered.

Thanks FAST!!! The guy who had the security cameras was ex LE, so yes he is concerned about security.

You helped tremendously to fill in the blanks in my brain regarding Steven's travel in that neighborhood...invaluable and I thank you!!!

If it was a joke the family probably didn't want people to think otherwise or the other friends didn't want everyone looking at it. Weren't some of them married now? If it wasn't a joke, guess the same reasons for not wanting them out there could apply. JMHO ;)

Thank you. Wow. I've snipped your excellent post.
There's another kind of job, that people disappear into: magazine and newspaper subscriptions. They load young people up in buses and take them through various cities, knocking on doors. A group was just arrested in Utah, when they started cruising neighborhoods and stealing. It's one of those jobs young people do, thinking it'll be better than it really is. Knocking on doors is tough.

I've just looked at the videos again. That SUV/crossover/minivan keeps looking more suspicious to me, since it pulls up and parks right where it can look at Steven walking up the street.

(I think I just put a thumbs-up in...we'll see)

Sure, it's possible. But the person who took the page down, could easily have edited the text...and left the pictures of Steven up. :twocents:

I believe I've seen those kids - not selling just subscriptions, but candy and incense as well - just teenagers. In the past two years or so, I've also seen a LOT of young, seemingly able-bodied, folks begging on the streets. I mean like late teens, early 20's. It's weird - like there's some type of begging ring or something.

O/T: Funny you mention that. Just a few hours ago I had a young couple approach me while I sat in my vehicle at the mall waiting on my Mom. Said they were living on the streets and needed $5 more to get a room for the night. And just a few weeks ago a young man approached me at a local Sheetz saying someone had brought him to this area for a job and they left him. He had no money, no ride and was hungry.

Yeah I was probably scammed...I gave them each less than $5...but what is this? The new thing to do?

Interesting theory. Anything is possible. However, if he encountered a totally sleazy gang of criminals, I think they would have taken his car keys and disposed of the car, lest the operation be exposed.

Thus it brings me (and I say me as it is my opinion) back to where I began. Steven abandoned his car in the off the beaten path location on purpose. The only questions are why and who was he meeting?

I don't think it was anyone who lived in the development as they would not want the car anywhere near them.

Steven obviously got to this neighborhood with exact directions, but how did he get them? The phone logs have been check and and apparently there was nothing out of the ordinary. So, did he meet someone and they gave him the directions on paper? Going along the lines of what Fasteddy4 suggested, maybe a "talent" scout. ether way it seems that who ever he was going to see he would have had to have made contact with them prior in person seeing as there is absolutely no paper trail and that person lives some where within that 4 house area.

However, there was a comment made on the article written by the las Vegas journal review that a man fitting Steven's description was seen on up on MLK and Craig taking a bus. i don't know how legit that is but it could be a good sign.

It's very unsettling and here in Vegas, it started long before the recession really took hold. I have scoured the missing persons boards looking for some that I see regularly, but with no luck. Because I see so many of these very young people on the street corners, I do really wonder if it's some type of organized ring. In recent times, I've seen these beggars in areas where they wouldn't normally be.

I just can't see Steven being involved in something like this.

From what I can see, Steven's got a nice look to him...but he also could resemble many people.

There's two ways to look at the car location:

1 - He met someone there, and was driven out, abandoning his car. (Did he owe money on the car? But why would he leave belongings inside...unless that was part of the plan.)

2 - It was a random choice at the time. Remember the Yosemite Murders case, where Carole Sund's rental car was found down a little-known logging road near Long Barn, CA? Many decided that the killer had to have been very familiar with the road, to know it was there. But when Cary Stayner was arrested and later interviewed, he confessed that he was looking for a dirt road, it fit the bill at the time, so he just turned down it.

Man, Steven. Tell us where you are.
You and Lark Montague have me bugged.

Waiting to hear back from fasteddy4 on the EXACT location of the area where Steve's car was found....but I no longer necessarily feel that he was in there area for a specific reason.

MLK and Craig is just about as far away as one could get from where Steven's car was found - and NOT a good area. I'm not talking about a seedy part of town that would lead one to think of secret behavior. I'm talking about a drive-by-shooting, gang-ridden type of area.

The thing is, if he wanted to be IN Las Vegas, he probably wouldn't have started out in Sun City Anthem. There are many, many places in the city he could have left his car where it wouldn't have been detected so quickly. And much closer to the type of "action" that has been speculated about here.

...and all of that, leads me back to one of my first questions: are we positive that's Steve in the video?

The behavior of the person who left the car, is more like that of one who's "dumping" it...rather than an owner.

Wow. You guys have done a lot of work today. Nice to see new posters too. Can't stay, but a quick question regarding Steven's past work history. Did he work for the Davis County Clipper and Matchbin in the past?

I don't know about ya'll, but I sure would like to know which direction Steve turns in that video. Is it toward Anthem Parkway, a specific home or further into the development? I don't know which direction the camera that seems to have caught him is pointing????

Based on what has been "seen" now, I think that it would be fair to say that Steven was going to a specific spot, address, location...when he parked the car there.

Maybe because he was early and on-time to an appointment, he wanted to walk to the appointment as to not appear too eager. Thinking back, I have probably done this a few times myself. If there were other cars parked in the front of the house he was going to then maybe that is where he settled "around the block", another possibility.

So really, it has to be determined what he was doing in his private time. Did we find out if he went to Sacramento the time he said he was going to, and if he did, why was he going there? Does he know someone there? How did he contact that person? This might show that he had another cell phone, or email that no one knew about.

I would like to hear from co-workers too. If the story could get out more, I would think that if he was participating in "controversial" behavior, then someone who it was not controversial for would come out and say something. You know...kinda like what happened to Tiger (sorry, it's just a fresh example).

Naegle, can someone talk to Webb? Maybe he gave that story b/c he knew that his number would be on Steven's cell. Sounds like the perfect cover.
