The news of emergency vehicles using his mother's voice and words to send a message to Avonte is such a terrific idea.... But breaks my heart at the same time.... :heartbeat:

Tim Miller has already spoken with law enforcement in New York City, and will be traveling there on Friday – October 18th 2013 to evaluate the situation, and determine whether we have any resources that might be helpful in the search efforts for Avonte.

The family has reached out for help to the Rev. Al Sharpton, who announced on Thursday that the boy's mother, father and brother would join him at the Harlem headquarters of his National Action Network, as members of the organization pledge to canvas New York to find Avonte.

***Saturday Oct 19th at 9:30 am at the National Action Network Headquarters 106 West 145 St Malcom X Blvd, NYC. Sharpton will be issuing a "Red Alert" calling the community into action.

I was thinking to myself what causes a boy like this to take off in the first place. I do think at first, they probably like the adventure of it, and they dont realize the risks. They probably dont realize that others worry about them, and to them, it maybe like a game at first.

But after a few days of being out on their own and getting hungry, I sadly think their adventure turns to fear and anxiety. I hope he is found soon. I hope he has found food and water and I hope he is somewhere that is safe.

I am not giving up hope on this boy, and hope he turns up very soon. It is such a very sad situation. We have to find this boy soon. Somebody must have seen his last whereabouts.

Unfortunately most autistic children have no fear of danger at all. They have no idea that running into traffic can kill you or that jumping into water you could drown.

I'm not a big fan of Rev Al, but overall I think he has done more good than harm in NYC. (Brawley was 1987, hardly a milestone. The girl lied about a rape and was sued for defamation.
