On CNN now, Trump is asking Secy of Labor Acosta to resign.

Really? I just saw him on some channel saying how much he feels bad for Acosta and there was no hint of him thinking anything should happen to Acosta.

Edited to add: Just turned on CNN and Trump was definitely defending Acosta and supporting him. There was no indication that he thought Acosta should resign

While understandable, let's not allow Acosta to slink away from this until the full who, what and why of sweetheart deal is investigated. Otherwise, he'll always appear to be a sacrificial lamb.

It's not accident that the investigation is being carried out by some office professional responsibility. Acosta should receive the constitutional protections he may or may not have bent in the Epstein case.

NEW: DOJ official says that AG Barr will remain recused from any review of the 2008 #Epstein case due to past legal work, but after consulting with ethics officials, he will NOT recuse from the current case

AG Barr will not recuse himself from Epstein case, despite initial statement | Fox News

Confusing, apparently by design. All this does is make the public even more suspicious of his motives and possible connections to the crimes. Why are they so desperate to keep him on as AG? There are probably a lot of very qualified people who could take his place.

People who want to be connected with the current administration are a pretty short list right now. And they have to be vetted, the current administration has to approve of the choice. Not to mention Senate confirmation.

It is not a "long" list of folks to pick from.

Barr initially recused himself because he joined a law firm that had represented Epstein the year before Barr joined the law firm. Barr didn't go anything wrong.

I think he's being asked to resign because the DOJ is opening an investigation into how his office handled the 2008 case. I find it reprehensible that they cut such a sweet deal and totally ignored the fact that Epstein's attorneys were harassing the victims and one allegedly ran a father off the road. Attorneys whether they work for the DOJ or for the defendant are not above the law. At a minimum, all should be disbarred including Acosta.

Two big pieces of news here: U.S. District Judge Loretta Preska, the former chief judge of SDNY, will preside over unsealing the Epstein files in the civil litigation on remand from the Second Circuit. The next hearing will be Thursday afternoon.

Wouldn’t be surprised if corruption charges are filed against Vance
Not just for this case either
Vance in a later interview was not aware of the situation, according to the NYPost. Not sure he wasn't or was. The person who didn't do her job (in not researching) will be interesting to hear from. Was she directed to not research or did she just not do her job? Could be that she will take the blame. There are many people who have offender status who never had a pros. ask for a reduction. Fortunately, the judge dressed the ADA down and maintained the level 3 status, so no corruption charges that I can see happening-- no evidence she was directed to, and, even if she was, it may not be illegal or unethical.
