Why now? Isn't it strange that out of the blue this is happening? So many unknowns here, such as timing, behind the scenes players, others "known and unknown", the money, etc...

From what I've read, there's been ongoing discussion on social media of Epstein and others like him. Some of it is CT, but overall it's been a hot topic in many online forums. People are upset that so many high profile people have been sexually exploiting underage girls and boys with little to no investigation by authorities.

Epstein's case also came into the news again as a result of the civil case some of his victims brought against him. A recent court ruling made the news when a judge ruled files from the criminal case should be unsealed. So it seems like some of it is the result of public pressure and reporting by the Miami Herald, who has stayed on the case.

Article about the early July ruling related to the civil case.

NYPD let convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein skip judge-ordered check-ins

8 years

In a January 2011 court hearing, New York state Supreme Court Justice Ruth Pickholz rejected the defense attorney's arguments that because Epstein’s New York home is a “vacation residence," he should be exempt from the statute.

"I am sorry he may have to come here every 90 days," Pickholz said. "He can give up his New York home if he does not want to come every 90 days."

Police officials and state prosecutors give conflicting reasons why Epstein was allowed to evade the law, which could have been used as grounds to arrest the 66-year-old hedge fund manager.

And the plot thickens.

"Acosta, according to himself, backed off on prosecuting Epstein back in 2007, despite the possession of ample evidence proving his guilt, because he “belonged to intelligence.” Whose intelligence, exactly? is the first of many questions that arise here."

From same article:

"What’s not in doubt is that a sex trafficking ring centered on minors, which involved numerous global VIPs in compromising situations, would be of high interest to quite a few intelligence services."

It Sure Looks Like Jeffrey Epstein Was a Spy—But Whose?
Judging from an article in the Palm Beach Post, he was involved with the FBI.

FBI Epstein files say he gave info. Does it explain sweetheart deal?

“On 9/11/08, case agent advised writer that Epstein is currently being prosecuted by the State of Florida and is complying with all conditions of his plea with the State of Florida. Epstein has also provided information to the FBI as agreed upon. Case agent advised that no federal prosecution will occur in this matter as long as Epstein continues to uphold his agreement with the State of Florida. ... Case agent is requested to contact writer in the event this matter moves forward on a federal level.”

What info he gave the FBI is not known but it could help explain the deal he got

You have to wonder, if he got a deal for giving the FBI incriminating information on others, why didn't the FBI act on that information? It's been 10 yrs. You'd think they could build a case against someone by now if that information from Epstein was so valuable.

New: Jeffrey Epstein's lawyers have proposed a bail package that would put him in home detention -- at his UES residence, one of the largest in Manhattan, & valued at $77M, per court docs -- and have him monitored electronically

What Crust!

Well, it's all happening in public view now, so hopefully prosecutors and the judge are less inclined to give him such a good deal again.

Multimillionaire pedophile Jeffrey Epstein secretly served as a “key federal witness” against two hedge fund managers around the time he cut the sweetheart deal that let him avoid federal child sex-trafficking charges and serve just 13 months in a Florida jail, according to a new report Wednesday.
A year-long investigation by the Miami Heraldturned up records that show Epstein — who was one of the fund’s largest investors — cooperated in the prosecution of a pair of executives at now-defunct Bear Stearns financial firm and received “valuable consideration” for providing investigators with unspecified information.
Emails also show then-Miami US Attorney Alexander Acosta — who is now President Trump’s secretary of labor — and the lead prosecutor in the case agreeing to help Epstein’s high-powered defense lawyers try to contain the scandal sparked by his 2006 arrest in Palm Beach, according to the Herald

Wow, in reading the papers from the new victim who came forward yesterday, it states that she had recently lost her father to complications from AIDS just prior to being approached by this “recruiter.” She confided this to the woman and then Epstein apparently told victim at one of the meetings how he was a supporter of AIDS research. Yikes... it does make one wonder if there was some sketchy backchannel method by which identification of vulnerable minors (e.g. parent dying related to AIDS) was used... oh my gosh

How would we know they didn’t act on it.

You would think that but the FBI works in weird ways sometimes. They aren't exactly upfront with things sometimes

Well, if it's related to Bear Stearns, no one was arrested or went to jail.

Bear Stearns

JP Morgan bought out Bear Stearns with the help of the Federal Reserve Bank, the hedge fund market started it's slide into collapse. The economy tanked and U.S. taxpayers bailed everyone out. No one went to jail.

ETA: If government regulators had been doing their job, including the SEC, they wouldn't have needed any "tips" from a pedophile.
