Not if he was dressed as a ninja with face mask. Also he probably hadn't seen him for 3 years. Or maybe the odd look Fahim gave him in the elevator might have been a look of recognition. JMMO

I too have questions about the time-line.

JMO This was not a quick professional hit.
If the MSM statement's of his sister arriving and interrupting the nightmare she was about to walk into.... There is no telling what evil torture Fahim endured before his life was Stolen. I just don't see the $ bad business deal motive. Maybe he was trying to throw off investigaters by making it look that way. I mean 26 hours is a long time for a professional hit. Nope JMO (maybe a person who watched to many horror flicks) premeditated JMO I think so. Who packs a power saw and visits?

I see a Jealous psychopath killer stalker want a be Fahim. A vengeance killing.
A hate......Professional hired killers do not perform house keeping after a hired hit.

They are in and out.
Nor do they hang around 24 hours with a power saw, a barking dog and flee a crime scene leaving possible witnesses alive. ( Hollywood)
This is truly a horror that nightmares are made of.
I am so sorry for his sister and LE who had to witness this evil sick monster's brutal crime scene of this beloved
Amazing loving trusting young man.

May this monster be found and made to never see the light of day.
Sickening do we think this person has killed before?

Not if he was dressed as a ninja with face mask.
Ha! I did forget that part.

It’s just if you want him out of the way, there’s absolutely no reason to do it like this.

This is not a common event; it’s overkill. So it’s just got to be someone with a grudge, who knows him well.

So if it’s not him (the guy suing him), I think it’s someone like him.

So hypothetically, the guy mentioned above wanted revenge. This attack has “personal” written all over it.

Now, the question is if he did it himself, or if he hired someone to do it. Killing this man wouldn’t magically win his lawsuit against him, and I’m confident he’s smart enough to know that.

So if you want revenge that badly, wouldn’t you do it yourself?

But, wouldn’t Saleh recognize him in the elevator?

Thoughts?

Apparently whoever did this had their face covered. Also say you're a family member that was killed via Gokada, Saleh wouldn't be able recognize you at all, but Saleh would be highly recognizable to the killer. Just because you hate someone enough to want to plan and kill them, it doesn't mean that your target knows you well or at all, especially if it's related to business in some foreign country. Someone could want to kill Mary Barra due to a GM fatality of a family member, but Barra wouldn't recognize that person at all.

Hypothetically, if this was a hit and arranged by someone who had a major issue with Mr Saleb, the someone may have requested to let the victim know who ordered it, and have photographs or even a video of the killing?

A good-looking, smart and wealthy 33 year old man, surely has a significant other and/ or, many
many admirers vying for his attention (and money!) wonder if any will show up at his funeral?
speculation, imo.

That Mr Saleb was seen to have collapsed (if that is correct), but screams and loud noises were heard by a neighbor, did he recover and then fight for his life before being murdered?
or were the screams and commotion heard in the elevator?

Absolutely heinous crime! Almost seems like a work of a serial killer. It's one thing being a hitman, and it's another thing dismembering someone. Seems very strange and it doesn't seem as though the motive was financial as many have suspected.

Apparently LE thinks it's related to a business deal:
Police source say a business deal gone bad is being investigated as a motive for the killing. There’s no indication that NYPD detectives are eyeing past controversies involving PrankDial.
Techie dismembered in NYC apartment created app used by N.J. jail honcho in illegal wiretapping case

Is it possible this could have been a crime of opportunity? A psychopath following a young man and catching him at a vulnerable moment ending up butchering him

Often, people think of a motive, but there aren't understandable motives in some killings. Some people are just *advertiser censored***d in the head.

Really doesn't seem likely to me. It just doesn't make any sense. Business gone wrong would probably be a bullet to the head and a swift escape with no evidence or clues left. Why butcher someone like that? Seems like too much for and the type of crime is also utterly personal.

Just now joining thread, and I just saw this -- please forgive if it is a repeat.

Investigators in New York City are trying to figure out who killed and dismembered a 33-year-old technology entrepreneur in his Manhattan apartment.
Fahim Saleh, 33, was a venture capitalist and CEO of Gokada, a transportation company headquartered in Nigeria. When family members were unable to reach him on Tuesday afternoon, his sister dropped by his luxury condominium building on Manhattan's Lower East Side. When she discovered his body, which had been decapitated, she called police.
According to the New York Times, who cite police, detectives first found the man’s torso and an electric saw nearby. The saw was still plugged in. They searched the condo and found the man's head and limbs in different parts of the unit.
[...]
Reuters reports that he was accompanied by a man clad in a black suit, mask and gloves. The video showed the unidentified masked man following Saleh into the apartment. Once inside, a struggle began.

The cops need to check all his electronics to figure out if he was involved with people/interests or if he had any romantic ties to anyone. They need to look into places he frequents, whom he seems, how often, etc. Check financial records, talk to family, friends and co-workers.

One good thing... with the saw being left behind, hopefully it can be tracked back to where it had been purchased.

That is a good point.

Some saw brands expensive and are favored by professional contractors. There might be a limited number of places where they are sold in New York. Likewise, some Big Box stores might not carry all contractor level brands. Likewise, smaller stores catering to contractors would only carry hi end tools.

On the other end of the spectrum are very low end brands. Harbor Freight espescially and to an extent, Northern Tool market several very no frills, entry level brands of tools, including saws. I think some brands are only obtainable through them.

Of course, a brand from the middle of the spectrum would be sold by more vendors. But.... how many vendors are there for tools in NYC? Even with used tools, how many NYC pawnshops take in power tools? I have no idea as to the answers.

Likewise, it could have been purchased mail order, but one needs to start somewhere.

It does happen, like this is what was done to an undercover DEA agent where he was tortured by a cartel leader for 30 hours because he cost the cartel a lot of money:
Kiki was held at 881 Lope de Vega in Guadalajara; this house was owned by Rafael Caro Quintero. Kiki was held against his will at this location for about three days. During this time Kiki was subjected to numerous torture techniques for over 30 hours. Quintero and others brutally assaulted Kiki over and over again. They crushed his skull, jaw, nose, and cheekbones by beating him with a combination of fists and a tire iron. They broke his ribs with numerous assaults to his mid-section. They were so brutal in their attack that they even drilled a hole in his head, and if that was not enough, they also tortured him with a cattle prod.

The torture that Kiki Camarena underwent was so intense that he passed out from the pain and almost died a few times during these torture sessions. Quintero was such a psychopath about the tortures that he ordered a cartel doctor to keep Kiki alive. “At that point, he administered lidocaine into his heart to keep him alert and awake during the torture,” (Jeunesse). Due to his numerous wounds from the torture, eventually Kiki could no longer be kept alive, and he died on February 9th, 1985.

Nigeria is famous for it's corruption and Bangladesh also has problems with organized crime, so all it would take is some psycho organized crime leader who blamed Saleh for costing him money or who felt financially threatened by him. This for instance seems threatening in Nigeria:
A spokesman for the ruling party, All Progressives Congress, Joe Igbokwe hinted at the ban in a Facebook post on August 2019: “Instead of partnering with govt on BRT, you invested “5.3 million dollars” in okada business and expect that Lagos state will allow you jeopardise its muliti-billion (sic) naira mass transit investments.”
In Lagos, Gokada and MAX.ng riders take to the streets to protest “okada ban” | TechCabal
Now Saleh won't be allowed to jeopardise large mass transit investments and others in the Lagos okada business can take it as a warning.

That’s what I thought. In a 2.2mill $ apartment the least they can have is security checking cctv.
2.2 million dollar apartments are rare in my city (though they do exist). My guess is that such buildings here routinely include security, cameras, desk staff and recorded entries.

But..... 2.2 million dollar apartments in Manhattan, and equivalent parts of Los Angeles, San Francisco etc. may not be tony enough to automatically include all the bells and whistles. Rather, the bells and whistles may start at an even higher level?

And this from the NYTimes:

An electric saw was found near the man’s torso, law enforcement officials said. Units in the Lower East Side building have sold for more than $2 million.
[...]
There were several large plastic bags in the apartment, and it appeared that some effort had been made to clean up any evidence of what had happened, one law enforcement officials briefed on the matter said.
[...]
The medical examiner has not officially determined the cause of death — and has not specified how Mr. Salaeh was killed — but detectives had been investigating the case as a homicide, and on Wednesday morning they officially classified it as such.
