“I thought the public’s right to know what goes on in federal court and the transparency that would be given the proceedings by live-blogging outweighed any potential prejudice to the defendant,” Bennett told the ABA Journal in 2009.

“It’s become part of what I do,” he said. “I come from the industry formerly known as newspapers. All my life we were a second day news source and people would get their breaking news from broadcast. But now (Twitter) puts all news organizations on equal footing.”

Twitter says Dateline are filming the closings ... so we may get to see some of it after all. I hope someone can let us know when it is going to air. I think that we can view it online.

Garcia says the affair was basically not moral, but it doesn't make Ramsaran a killer. #RamsaranTria

No...having an affair doesn't make someone a killer. But his actions on that day and the days following certainly point to him being the one to murder Jen.

Garcia says Ramsaran had no motive to murder for money. #RamsaranTrial

It was a perfect mix of intense local interest and a portable medium that can go where television cameras cannot. There is no doubt it is changing trial reporting and, perhaps, trials themselves by drawing people to courtroom events as they happen and pushing out unvarnished information at the speed of light.

Can you fill us in on the misdemeanor charges in college ?Can you fill us in on the misdemeanor charges in college ?
Yes I would like to know this as well, what charge? Also he did not graduate college, was kicked out?
I see you have answered it was for cheating? I have never heard of being charged with a misdemeanor for cheating. Interesting...

He said 'having to do with cheating', so I wonder if the charges had to do with how he went about cheating. Such as breaking and entering, unlawfully gaining access to a computer system he doesn't have authorized access to, literally stealing a copy of a test owned by the school....

Just some guesses. :seeya:

Earlier tweet - can't see it here?.

Garcia says Ramsaran was happy as a pig in mud on December 10, 2012 after being with his girlfriend. Why would a happy man kill?...

I just saw that tweet. I think comparing his client to a pig in mud shows the same degree of sensitivity as Remy Ramsaran. Not very flattering.....

Keep in mind I only know what he said. I have no way of knowing how true. Whatever was in his record kept Wells Fargo from hiring him.

I also think asking rhetorical questions like that can lead to problems - the jury are going to try answering the question in their minds, and it seems fairly obvious GR might have killed to stay happy, stay solvent and stay with his mistress. Jennifer was right in the way of that.

He had mention this 17 years ago so my memory isn't real clear on details. I think he did mention about sneaking into the professor's office and replacing his paper/test or replacing a copy of the test. But he did enter the office after hours.

I want to thank you for being so forthcoming and also for giving us so much insight into GR.

Former news man and academic tweeting to another reporter about how unusual this no tweet rule is:

Dave Dellecese (@davedellecese) tweeted at 3:07pm - 23 Sep 14:

@AnnaMeiler That may be a first! Encountered the no pictures/video thing many times, but I had never heard 'no tweeting in court' until now. (https://twitter.com/davedellecese/status/514400649036185601)
