Steroids aren't a party drug, not sure why that was mentioned. All those guys look like serious weightlifters so they may well use them, but not relevant unless someone's claiming steroid use has changed their personality.

Steroids use while using recreational/other drugs are an issue. IMO that's why it was mentioned.

ETA: Anabolic steroid use, alone, is known to cause aggression. Add to that party drugs and alcohol... Disaster.

There seems to be covering up on so many levels and so very deliberately layered. Essentially, it seems to me, whatever is being covered for is far worse than the defense's best case scenario of trying to pass this off as an argument over cigarettes. Software sales would include *advertiser censored*, is it possible? I wonder if LE has tracked what kind of "software" Gemma sells. I would say the three of them found in Joey, more than they could handle, as they seem to have been well cultivated and familiar with the shame game, and had the confidence of being defended once they tried and as they tried to cover up. In other words, I think the cover up, was done as a cover up, for something else, it seems to me.

Max and his mother are also listed as agents at Keller Williams City Life, a brokerage in Hoboken, NJ.

This doesn't necessarily mean that they are full-time practicing agents. But they do seem to have licenses that are being "held" by Keller Williams.

I really don't believe it was a sexual advance gone bad. LE had mentioned that drugs (cocaine/steroids) were used and probably a lot of alcohol prior to that.

I have no idea, just going by what was reported. That said, the whole idea that it had to do with going for cigarettes totally stinks. So, it had to be something more for someone to stab this poor man 15 times, then dispose of his body, and try to burn him in the process. It all stinks to high heaven. JMO

BTW, I do think that at least one of the suspects are gay. If the victim wasn't gay, would that make a difference?

So, what is everyone's theory? I want to hear them all. TIA

I agree that the cigarette story is just lame. Like LD was making it up as he went along. I guess it sounded logical to him at the moment.

Honestly, and IMO only, I don't believe any of them were gay or bi. I believe James provided a "service" in exchange for his lifestyle.

I think alcohol and drugs and a very long night created a deadly scenario. Could have been any twenty something year old good looking guy who went back to party.

My best guess is that JR/LD/MG(?) were trying to hook it up with the 3 women that came over, and Joey was wary of them dudes and protected the women. I'm thinking he walked them out and then returned to the apartment either a.) to confront the other dudes for their behavior towards the women, or b.) to party more, not thinking the situation with the girls was even a big deal. Those girls were very lucky to have been with Joe that night.
I do think drugs were involved in the sense they were being used by most or all of the people present, but I don't believe the murder was a result of drug debt or something.

Sounds like a "good" guess - we shall see, eh? I too think drugs were involved - but only the 3 indicted.

Assuming only one person used the knife, and it wasn't a plot hatched ahead of time, they can't charge both with murder just because they're too impatient to wait for more evidence. Maybe the detailed forensic analysis and lab results on the body/clothing etc will allow them to pinpoint the killer, maybe one of the accomplices will talk, maybe they'll find the knife and it will have the killers DNA.

LE and DA's office will take all the time they need to put together the evidence of who exactly stabbed him and, if possible, why. If they cannot prove their case beyond a reasonable doubt, the jury won't convict and it will all have been a waste of time.

Nobody has been charged with murder yet, right?

But that doesn't mean someone won't be charged in the future. There is no statute of limitations on murder - the murderer can be charged at any time with murder from now until the end of their lives (hopefully sooner rather than later!).

It's not necessarily true that LE made mistakes (just because a defense lawyer is squawking, it doesn't make it true).

Perhaps, it's more complicated than one or other used a knife to stab him.

The other could have pinned him down, or held him allowing the one to stab him to death. Both would be responsible for murder.

Thats why I'm bringing this up today. They should be charged tomorrow, but they won't be. The cops & the DA are fighting, they are using Max Gemma as a pawn, and no one gets charged with murder. Use Max Gemma as the witness he IS, give him immunity & drop the indictment against him! Then they will get the info they need to charge the RIGHT guys with murder!!

It would be great if murder charges happened tomorrow, but if no one is charged with murder now, it doesn't mean they won't be later.

I think we all agree it was not an accident. I wish one of the guys would spill the beans, and perhaps one still will. In the meantime, LE gathers the hard evidence that will be needed fir a murder charge. Fingers crossed they are making progress and don't need to rely on someone who doesn't tell the truth on his own out of decency and justice. Jmo

I think if LD or MG had to spend as much time in jail as JR they would have cracked by now but unfortunately they had the resources /funds to finance their freedom. I don't want to see a deal made for any of them - ideally they will all be sentenced to the max for such inhumane acts ......but if one deal has to be made to topple the tower of lies I can understand. I do hope that LE is not offering any such deals because they are building a solid case and will bring that evidence forth when it is time. We haven't heard a peep from the women, the building staff or other friends that were out that night nor anything about phone records/texts. Even the cab driver who drove the women could have information. Let's hope all of this is all being pieced together and LE has enough evidence.

The knife hasn't been found as far as we know but it seems it could only be within the places LD /JR travelled or MG took it with him which would explain the tampering with evidence charge.
