I miss MrsG with her great local slant on the case. Has she been here lately? :seeya:

In today's Newsday article, JB makes the unlikely claim that he only hired prostitutes for company, not sex. It's been a year now, and if this is a lie (it's my opinion that it is), what else is JB still lying about? I hope he's being more honest with law enforcement than he is with the press.

I guess it's possible that the sexual services were for the "drifter," about whom we have heard so little for so long, but we do know that Drifty likes strippers. But perhaps he only wants to play Parcheesi with them.

The article contains new information saying that SG and JB drove off in his car for about 15 minutes but didn't leave the OB neighborhood. The usual group of unruly Newsday commenters speculate that this could have been a drug buy. Hard to figure what else it might have been at 2 AM in such an isolated area. That suggests the involvement of another OB resident.

"The one noticeable similarity with almost all serial killer victims is their short height and low weight."

"There are many more serial killers living outside the prison walls than inside."

"There are two kinds of serial killers as far as the victim is concerned: the kind that you don't see before they pounce on you and the kind you see and don't expect to pounce on you."

"While there are many wonderful police investigators out there doing some very fine work, the majority of the time it is not brains that catches serial killers."

"Without solid connections between homicides, we may have the reverse problem of believing three local murders are the work of one serial killer when they may actually be the work of three!"

"All serial killers want to win. They choose victims they can kill successfully."

"Many of the less prolific killers' stories go unheard because they simply don't make good books."

"Most well-known serial killers have victims numbering in the dozens, have sent taunting letters to the police or have done bizarre things to the bodies."

"Nowadays, with much more racial and ethnic mixing, we are seeing serial killers murdering a variety of victims; whoever comes along will most likely do."

"Often I am asked if there is any such thing as a female serial killer."

"Often, a serial killer has no felony record."

"Outside of dumb luck, the number one way serial killers are caught is through the help of the public."

"Police are reluctant to label a murder as a possible serial homicide."

"Serial killers are everywhere! Well, perhaps not in our neighborhood, but on our television screens, at the movie theaters, and in rows and rows of books at our local Borders or Barnes and Noble Booksellers."

"Serial killers kill for the power and control they experience during the murders and for the added ego boost they get in the aftermath from community fears, media coverage, and the police investigations."

"Serial killing is not about sex at all, but about power and control and revenge on society."

"Since there are only so many ways to kill a person, a good portion of homicides look pretty much alike."

"Telling the community a serial killer is out there stirs up a lot of unpleasant attention."

"The accepted definition of a serial killer is a person who kills at least three times with a cooling off period in between his murders."

"The most important issue for the killer is the ability to get a victim easily and successfully."

From the article, "Gilbert vanishing reaches one-year mark" ( link h/t ItalinBella & Mountain_Kat )

That year, while working for a Jersey City agency, she met Pak, who identified himself to Newsday as an escort driver. Pak, 41, had served six months in prison after pleading guilty in August 2004 to a federal charge of conspiracy to misuse a passport. He was arrested on May 11, 2004, at Dallas-Fort Worth Airport after flying from Zurich with a woman from China who had a U.S. passport in someone else's name, according to the indictment.

Assistant U.S. Attorney J. Michael Worley said Pak accepted money to bring her into the country. Pak said in an interview that he accepted money to help the woman with her English and only learned about the passport problem shortly before boarding a flight with her from Sri Lanka to Zurich. By then, he said, he felt he couldn't get out of his agreement.
This screams human trafficking, specifically sex trafficking.

Can someone please repost SG's phone records from that night? I can't find them on FindShannanGilbert, and I have no idea which of our threads we posted it in. TIA

Here you go. Am going to post this in Shannan's thread as well.

GM everyone!

The FindShannanGilbert.com website has interesting things on there:

One question that was brought up was, "Why is the gated community’s security videotape missing from that night of Shannan’s disappearance?"
Is that true?? I've been waiting to hear results on what they saw on those tapes. This is the first time I'm hearing that the tape from that night is missing! This case is full of coincidences, but if it's true- that the tapes from that specific night are missing, that doesn't seem like just a coincidence.

Now the driver, Mr. Pak - 41 years old
The site asks, "Why did he leave the area and move to Georgia?"I thought JB's friend (drifter) was the one to move to Georgia? The driver moved to Georgia?

ALSO!

Shannan’s Phone Records:

Also, in the middle of the phone records, it seems like they called or stopped at the CVS? In the beginning there was speculation of Shannan meeting Brewer somewhere else and then he drove her the rest of the way, Maybe this is where Brewer had picked Shannan up?

Not sure if this was posted anywhere else. It's a story in today's Newsday about SG's disappearance http://www.newsday.com/news/breaking/gilbert-vanishing-reaches-one-year-mark-1.2849214

Just a couple of things that jumped out at me:

JB called a prostitute just for company because he was lonely? And then expected she would not want money ?? Gosh, if he was just lonely, he could have gotten a hug from the drifter, no?

LE told JB not to talk to the media ?? Nawww ;) ... LE usually loves it when peeps talk to the media.

JB and SG toured the hood for 15 mins? Who on earth did they visit at that hour? Well anyhoo ... I guess that explains how SG's dna might have happened in his vehicle. Yep

SG's phone records that were publicized don't indicate any activity beyond her 911 call, but MP says after he spoke with GC, he texted SG while driving around looking for her.

Might have to change my nick to Doubting Thomas.

BTW, Thank You for that grumpy :)

Warning: The following is just a theory!!!

Okay, so Shannan and her driver arrived at Oak Beach at 2 am. Here's what I think happened after that. I think that either Shannan wanted drugs or someone else at the "party" suggested they get some drugs to get the party going (maybe adderall or some other RX upper) and Shannan agreed. Then maybe JB said something like "my neighbor is a doctor and he can help us out, let's drive over there, it's just around the corner."

So Shannan and JB drive to PH's house to get some pharm drugs. However, the pills they get are not what Shannan had in mind and instead she is provided with roofies or something of that nature.

The phone call to CVS was at 2:55, likely when the pills started kicking in and Shannan realized something didn't feel right. Maybe she was scared and wanted to call 911 at that point but JB or the Doc said something like "you're probably just be having a bad reaction, nothing to worry about." So in her altered state, she decided to call the nearest pharmacy to ask them if the pill could be interacting with her bipolar medication (or whatever). While trying to make that call, someone talked her out of it and she hung up or someone took the phone from her and hung it up (that's why the call was so short).

Beginning 2 minutes after the CVS call, Shannan's phone makes and receives 6 calls to and from MP until her 911 call at 4:51. If it was Shannan making these calls (I believe it was, for most of them), then clearly she knew something was horribly wrong. What was she saying to MP during all of these calls? How come he didn't come see what was wrong until JB called him?

So Shannan was drugged and incapacitated by the end of the evening. She encountered an actual danger at some point but due to her incapacitated state, was unable to coherently explain what/who she was of to anyone who tried to help her (i.e.- GC, 911 operators). She began to perceive everyone as a threat and ran and hid, until whoever was actually after her (likely the person or persons who drugged her) eventually caught up with her...

That'll all I've got right now, feel free to tear it apart.

I can't believe Shannan has been missing for a year now, I pray that her family finally gets some answers soon.

The phone records I saw only listed calls, not texts. Texts would be listed separately.

I don't for one minute believe JB's story about SG going into the bathroom and coming out whacked out. Don't believe that he never saw drugs. I think it's pretty obvious he and she left the house around 2:30, and went somewhere in Oak Beach to buy drugs...where, I dunno. And I do believe that SG called CVS shortly thereafter because she was afraid she was either having a bad reaction, or thought JB had slipped her something...for example, they smoke a joint on the way back to the house, but the joint was laced. SG knows what a weed high is, and this AIN'T it...freak out. Call CVS, but hang up because, well, what the hell do you say? This is where she starts calling MP furiously. Shortly thereafter, she calls 911 and flees the house.

If it's true that LE didn't show up on the scene until 6 am., and MP states he rode down Ocean Blvd looking for her then went home around 6 am. was he even questioned by LE that morning? If he wasn't, who told LE his name and how to contact him? In this version of events, JB doesn't appear to have MP's cell number, if he did, why would he have to WALK down and get MP to remove SG from the house? Unless, of course, JB needed to punch in a code for the gate, but if he had the cell number, he could have given MP the code over the phone.

Again, ALOT not adding up here.

I'm pretty sure that everything I've read said the police arrived 45 minutes after she initially called and about 30 minutes after GC called. So that would be around 5:30.

nevermind I see they're now saying almost 6:00

Having just realized that I didn't know what an D.O. actually did, or whether they can write prescriptions, I decided to get off my lazy butt and look it up.

http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/002020.htm

This jumped out at me almost immediately:

Osteopathic physicians hold to the principle that a patient's history of illness and physical trauma are written into the body's structure. The osteopathic physician's highly developed sense of touch allows the physician to feel (palpate) the patient's "living anatomy" (the flow of fluids, motion and texture of tissues, and structural makeup).

(Yes, I'm sure I reading more into this than I should be. But I still find that incredibly creepy in light on this case. Sue me. )

I am certain the 15 minute trip that SG and JB took from JB's house was to go purchase drugs from someone in Oak Beach. So, JB is a guy who was soliciting prostitution and purchasing drugs all within 3-4 hours of SG going missing, and he is walking around free as a bird with no charges at all. That sort of puts him back on my list of suspects. I can only think of three reasons for JB to not have any charges at all: 1) LE know's he is guilty, but are waiting to find a body to press charges, 2) LE is incompetent, 3) LE is corrupt. This is all just my speculation, obviously, but JB's story is complete duck poop, and I cannot for the life of me understand why he has been "cleared". I don't believe it.

Before they can arrest JB or anybody else, they have to have a crime, and evidence that a particular person committed it. The most they could charge him with at this point is hiring a prostitute, and he has denied even that.

DO's are doctors, and do about anything any other family physician can do. I've seen them as the doctor in emergency rooms, and used to use one who even delivered one of my kids and treated our colds and illnesses until he retired. I think SG wasn't calling CVS about anything other than maybe realizing that she needed to be on her meds or just a wrong number. If it were later I'd think that maybe someone ( a medical person) was trying to convince her to order her meds.
