Plus all the empty vacation cabins plus abandoned buildings ...
If they've gone from Lindley to Friendship, they must have heir hands on a vehicle.

Are you east or west of Allegheny?
East.
We are very near PA. Ive been meaning to look into how close train tracks run to this area but have not gotten around to it. And, I cant decide if i think they are on foot and jumping on trains or traveling by car or already at their planned destination and watching all of the search efforts on tv.

We saw this last night too. I was just blown away that SEVEN of them would stay together - one would think they would have attracted attention just because of that! Based on that - I'm thinking Sweat and Matt are still together. But show me a different show tonight and I'll change my mind yet again...

Isn't it bizarre how the infamous Texas 7 escapees all decided to stay together in a trailer park? Because 7 sketchy looking dudes showing up in a trailer park immediately after 7 sketchy looking dudes escape prison isn't suspect at all.

It's always reminded of that old Woody Allen movie in which he escapes prison while shackled together at the legs with two black guys, and they shuffle around everywhere side by side and just tell people they are brothers from a close knit family and don't like to be apart! LOL!

Three of the Texas 7 have been put to death (with the latest, Donald Newbury, saying if he had it to do over he wouldn't change a thing) and one committed suicide. The other three are still on death row.

The RV park was in Colorado, they escaped from Texas.
They were there for 21 days before anyone thought they were sketchy.
If they had moved on sooner they could have likely stayed on the run much longer.

Yes, that's correct. Not sure what your point is as I didn't contradict that. My opinion is that 7 murderers who escape from prison all deciding to shack up together is probably not the wisest decision. Your opinion may differ and that's fine with me.

I noticed some stuff that didn't make sense regarding the path the guys would've made to get from Dannemora to Lindley to Friendship so I will go ahead and re-post this map that shows the likely path, which of course presumes they're riding the rails on freight trains as often as possible:

There is no doubling back IMO AFAIK.

We are visiting family who live 2 counties over from Allegany.
It's a 3 hour drive to Friendship.
It spooks me a little when I think that there are no neighbors close enough to notice if anything was amiss...no one locks their doors...no cell signal...no weapons...
But, I an beginning to think it is just as likely these 2 fugitives are in my home town in GA as up here in the Catskills.
You can all ignore this post it's just pre-coffee rambling...

Two counties east but 3 hours from Friendship... hm... and I'm 3 counties east but only 2 hours from Friendship. Where in Tioga county is 3 hours from there, the Ithaca area? You up at Cayuga Lake? LOL no of course you don' have to answer just curious. But nah they have cell service up there unlike most of my neck of the woods. Just thinking out loud over my first cup of coffee. :coffee: don't mind me.

ETA - no I forgot that's already Tompkins county up there. Can't think of anywhere in Tioga that is a full 3 hours away. But if you go another county over you're in Broome county and they're full serviced there and it's way less rural than here.

ETA again - oh wait 2 counties east would be Chemung in which case you're even closer to Friendship, NY than I am over here. Oh well, I can't figure this one out. Just make sure nobody is confusing quick google maps searches of Friendship, NY with Friendsville, PA - they're both border towns but nowhere near one another.

Well color me intrigued!

Thanks for this!

If I saw a flock of swimming lemmings coming at me I would flip the heck out.

Just sayin.

I know you got welcomed already, but welcome and thanks for the thanks! I found the map, didn't make it myself.

IMO they're heading back up to Tonawanda. Matt always goes to relatives when he escapes. Or has so far. JMO.

Yesterday I was driving home and thinking about how what seems so normal to me would seem so rural to other people, and I was trying to take special note of features of rural upstate NY I could share with everyone, and the thing that stuck out at me the most is the fact that there are no street lights at all most places unless you're on a main strip that is deserving of a traffic light, which doesn't happen in EVERY Town, though ours now has three! THREE! stoplights. And the fact that you can be driving past houses and see free range chickens just wandering people's yards. Yesterday I was like "oh hey if I was them I'd just reach out and grab that one and twist it's neck and boil it later over a fire if I could make one, or steal all the eggs otherwise. There's a meal."

FWIW

"Law enforcement agencies from around the state continued Sunday to investigate a possible sighting of two men in Allegany County who escaped from Clinton Correctional Facility.

Early Sunday morning, caravans holding New York state corrections officers arrived in Amity in to help continue the search throughout Allegany County. Officers from Elmira, Attica, Gowanda and Collins correctional facilities all were contributing to the search.

Allegany Sheriff's, Forest Rangers, NYS Police, U.S. Marshall and the FBI were also gathered at the command post in Friendship on Sunday morning."

This seems like a pretty good article detailing these most recent sightings the past few days.

Re: my comment they didn't double back IMO - I do understand what the poster was saying. If you look at the tiny little green line at the bottom of the map up there it looks like a bit of a jaunt to the PA border and back, like they did Erwin to Lindley back to Erwin but I think it's just how the person who made the map did it. I doubt highly that they really retraced their steps. If they DID , I'd wonder if someone had a cache of supplies buried in that particular spot that they went to retrieve before going back to following the railroad, though. JMO

I notice that at least one article (in the Sydney Morning Herald) misstates where these towns are in relation to one another. I will post it pro-actively in order to debunk it -

http://www.smh.com.au/world/police-...onverge-on-new-york-town-20150621-ghtkrf.html

They say that "State Police on Friday said the men might have been spotted on June 13 near a rail yard in Erwin, New York state, and the next day in nearby Lindley. Police said they were examining surveillance video to determine if it was the escapees.

Those communities are about 80 kilometres west of Friendship."

No, that's not true. Erwin and Lindley are both EAST of Friendship, not west, and certainly not 80 km unless I suck at converting, which could be the case. It is 67 miles. Is that 80 kilometers? I do not think it is. JMO. (ETA - google says that 67 miles is more like 108 Kilometers actually).

This makes total sense to me - thx !! Here in Mpls. area, the gay guy who murdered his 'ex' went & hid near his (suburbs-getting to be rural area north of the Mpls. area...) childhood home, robbed a local bank with gun so many days later, would launder that red-dyed bank robbery money in casino slot machines - casino was way down in a (south of Mpls.) area town about oh 1 hrs' drive away. That guy was a casino freak, I guess. Cops arrested him when local tipster phoned in as to skinny man who otherwise looked like somewhat chubby suspect STANDING AT AN ARBY'S DRIVE THRU at like 1030am, fondly lookin' over the menu........

GGE - You're a local --- Pahlease put on your BOUNTY HUNTER vest and get over to the area, wouldja !!

"Officers were ordered to keep radio silence and media personnel were asked to move out of a new perimeter area set up with road blocks and police patrols around an area centering on railway tracks near the town."

http://www.theguardian.com/us-news/...ison-break-manhunt-police-friendship-hot-spot

That's smart, IMO, since they had said before that David Sweat used police scanners to avoid capture for a bit after killing Deputy Tarsia.

If I get word that they're' in my neck of the woods you guys will have more photos and video from my camera than this website can host without crashing, I promise.

ETA - if it wasn't father's day and also one of my kids' birthdays today I'd be tempted to take a short road trip down 17W but realistically I'd just end up sitting in traffic only to be turned away because of not having an address in their town. And also I don't have a death wish nor a penchant for attention at all costs, so I'll sit back and wait for them to come my way, which I don't expect to happen at all since JMO they'r'e heading for the Buffalo area.

ETA again - in fact if I was LE I'd be quietly staking out this entire rail line the whole way between Friendship and DePew or Buffalo. This might be over in the next few days if they did. JMO Matt is not only going back for his hometown up there, but JMO he's doing it between now and his birthday on the 25th if he can.

If I was playing psychic I'd be saying maybe people in Buffalo/Tonawanda might want to begin practicing vigilance now more so than the people in Friendship. Just seems reasonable.
