Friend’s Foreboding Tweet about Missing Woman: “It’s a Crazy World”

As Greenwich Police work long hours investigating the homicide of Valerie Reyes of New Rochelle, some information shared when she went missing at the end of last month paints a bit of a picture of who she was.

[...]

Ms. Reyes was a sales associate at Barnes & Noble, who released a statement referring to her as a “beloved employee.”

“The entire Barnes & Noble community is grieving the loss of our beloved employee Valerie Reyes. She worked in our Barnes & Noble Eastchester store since it opened two-and-a-half years ago. Our hearts go out to her family, friends, and coworkers during this difficult time,” the company said in a statement.

[...]

On Feb 1, on Twitter the friend, Elissa, posted that Valerie was last seen on Tuesday, Jan 29 “at the #NewRochelle train station & supposedly was around #Midtown that same day. Please guys keep sharing this. We need to know she’s OK – it’s a crazy world & we are all worried.”

Town Of Greenwich Employee On Leave After Taking Photos Of Dead Woman

Just hours after the identity of the Westchester woman found bound and stuffed in a suitcase was released , Town of Greenwich officials are confirming that an employee is on paid administrative leave for taking photos of the murder victim and the crime scene and sharing them.

[...]

The town said they it take the appropriate actions with the unidentified employee upon the conclusion of an investigation into the matter.

Greenwich police officials said they were aware of the actions by the town employee, but were, of course, not releasing the photo.

Her cause of death has not been confirmed by the medical examiner, police said.

This is interesting (and relates to the Facebook comments mentioned earlier):
Reyes was reported missing to New Rochelle police on Jan. 30. Sanchez said the family hired a private investigator the next day, who tracked Reyes to Manhattan, where ATM surveillance cameras captured her image around 2 a.m. Reyes' bank card also was used that morning in the city at a different ATM, though it's unclear if she or someone else used ithe card, Sanchez said.

I'm so sorry for Valerie's family and friends. I feel so horrible, too, for whatever Valerie went through in her final hours. I wonder if there's a reason she felt she might be murdered (a stalker, e.g.) or if she had a premonition.

IMO, I don't think Valerie's killer was really known to her. This person left her body (in a suitcase) at the side of the road where it was easily found. Someone who knew her, IMO, would try to conceal her death to avoid being linked to her. Since Valerie had recently broken up with her bf, I wonder if she had been on any dating sites.

I hope LE are able to find her killer.

So why take sheets? Was she really running and hiding from someone or could it be some kind of mental break? Paranoia? Im sure she told her best friend more than they're realising. Did she owe people money? Still why take the sheets?
But a mental break/paranoia doesn't explain how she was found. JMO.
Her fear IMO wasn't something imagined. It was real because she was murdered.
I'm leaning toward someone she met on a dating site who misrepresented who he is. And, JMO again, I think his intent was to rob her.

I wonder if the BF was into criminal activity and he felt she knew too much and she broke up with him to get away from it. Is there more info on the boyfriend? It might not be him that killed her but an associate of his. She was kept somewhere for a time or she wouldn't be tied up. Poor girl. That really makes me think that there was a personal aspect to this. It seems strange to me that someone would be on a dating site so soon after a breakup. Maybe she knew that it would be dangerous to break up with this guy and that was why she worried plus maybe a few hints of what was to happen that we are not aware of yet. Just speculation.

So going by this time line- the conversation with her Mom was on the 28th of January, (according to the article @cybervampira posted above this), to which Valerie told her Mom she thought she was going to be murdered. Reading this timeline- it says on January 28th was the day she took her personal items with her along with her sheets?

Next day, she doesn't show up at something she planned with her Mom, and no one had heard from her since she left on the 28th of January. She was reported missing on the 30th of January.

Valerie was seen on a bank surveillance video on the 31st: Mom: Valerie Reyes feared 'someone is going to murder me' the night before she went missing

where ATM surveillance cameras captured her image around 2 a.m. Reyes' bank card also was used that morning in the city at a different ATM, though it's unclear if she or someone else used the card, Sanchez said.

So it appears that Valerie was alone at the bank at 2 AM? I wonder if she withdrew money then- it isn't very clear if she did then, but later on, it was mentioned that her card was used later on that morning, but they don't know if she used it herself or if someone else did.

So, technically, the last time Valerie was seen alive was at 2 AM on the 31st of January. There has to be more video of her out there somewhere, in my opinion. So, what was she doing from when she left on the 28th of January until 2 AM on the 31st- wandering the streets? I would imagine if she had gone to a hotel room, LE would have that information on her bank card. Where did she go, where did she sleep, before she was murdered? Did her phone ping anywhere that would give them an idea as to where she was during that time period? She had to get something to eat or drink, I would imagine, for those two days. Did she stop at any convenient stores or gas stations or restaurants for food? She could have paid cash for those items, but she might be on video somewhere. Also, not to be graphic, but she would have had to use the ladies room somewhere for those two days.

I am just baffled at the time she left her apartment until she was last seen on that surveillance tape- she was alive at least for two days before she was murdered. Who did she know in Manhattan? What brought her there for two days?
