This is just so haunting and frightening. Not a single trace of this poor woman after she dropped her daughter off at school. We can assume she made it home right after, but what happened to her from there is a mystery. I honestly don't think she drove her car to that bar. Even if she sold something online and was going to meet someone, I just don't picture her meeting them in a place that wasn't open already, where other customers might have seen or heard something in the parking lot. This just doesn't add up to me.

I agree. I am surprised it went quiet instead of picked up a little more.

Riverside PD looks to be pretty small staff wise if you look at their website listing of personnel. Then they had the big clinic bust which was all about the hot button issue these days of overprescribing opioids. This was probably coming down from federal level way before Cheryl went missing and was carried out less than 2 weeks after her disappearance. Montgomery County Ohio is one of the worst in the nation for this problem. Not connected, but coincidentally was maybe 1 mile or so from where her car was found. So with their small staff of detectives I'm not so sure how they have been able to handle an intense investigation. Those aren't the only two things going on in Riverside I'm sure. Riverside is a fairly large area geographically but I dont think as populous as say a couple other jurisdictions surrounding Dayton. Just my thoughts. But I thought some things might shake out once the clinic thing went down.

I was just going to say this-it’s only been 20 days since she was last seen, and I really expected that something would have surfaced by now. Hopefully, this won’t drag on like so many cases here, where the missing person is never found. I am personally discounting suicide; too hard to hide yourself completely-and it’s my belief that nearly all people who commit suicide want to be found

Yep I totally agree! I really think something bad has happened here. I just don’t understand why.. if it’s so out of character for her to disappear.. is the police not doing more.<modsnip - not victim friendly>
Here’s hoping there will be answers sooner rather than later.. her family are worried sick.

Hi everyone. I'm a resident of Riverside and live minutes from Cheryl's house and I live within walking distance from Kroger's/Clancy's. I know there are quite a few people here who are not from the area so I'd like to share some information about the area I'm from. The high school Cheryl dropped her daughter off is called Stebbins High School. I went to school here and graduated in 2010. I can tell you there is A LOT of security and cameras at this school. If something happened to Cheryl in the parking lot at the high school, we'd know about it. The police station is also about a minute down the road from Stebbins as well. It would be far too risky for anyone to do anything to anybody at the school. There is also an officer who visits the school daily. A little information about the police department itself: It is a rather small department. I've been there once before and the building itself is small. We have a great group of officers, but not as many as larger cities might have. The officers here are working hard on the case but of course they've hit a wall. There currently is no new information about Cheryl's disappearance and they're asking the public for assistance. As of right now, nobody has reported anything suspicious the day Cheryl's car was parked in the parking lot. Due to how early it was parked there, there would not have been too many people in the parking lot at that time. Dayton itself is a haven for drugs and crime. There are some bad people who live around here. Drugs and crime certainly run rampant through the streets and there is quite a bit of violence in the area as well. Just recently in a nearby area there was a man's body found wrapped in plastic in the middle of a field. I can tell you, a random disappearance here is just about unheard of though. We usually have murders where the perpetrator is apprehended the same day. Never anything like this.

As previously mentioned, the PD did do a bust at a local pain management center. My mother is currently a patient there and I used to be a patient. I can tell you this place is definitely sketchy and rather disgusting on the inside. It was only a matter of time before the police came knocking on their door. Although they are dealing with that matter, they're still trying their best to search for Cheryl or uncover any information. We also have multiple search teams in various areas searching for clues but have so far turned up empty. I hope my information has helped those of you who are no locals understand the area a bit better.

I really think the evidence will be in her house and/or her husbands car unfortunately. I’m sure they’ve already said he’s not a suspect but i wonder how they can decide that so early on especially when hers and his cars were at her home prior to her car arriving at the parking lot.

The police always say that the person WE think did it, is not a suspect, don’t they? <modsnip - not victim friendly> This isn’t, in my opinion, one of those really mysterious cases where people are totally puzzled about what happened to Cheryl-sounds like the only mystery is where she is now. I hope she’s found, for her family’s sake, and for the sake of justice.

New story.
Search for missing woman Cheryl Coker enters third week

Detective Travis Abney says, "It's still a mystery, but we don't have any concerns that she was abducted at this point."

Detective Abney says, "I can't stress enough the amount of search warrants we have executed in this case. People we are looking into, leads and tips that we are following up on a daily basis."

Abney says at this time there's no indication of foul play, and it's still a possibility that Coker left on her own. Family and friends have been cooperating so far.

I would check out the divorce docket for later entries - read the associated PDFs (they show up in popup windows so in a browser you will have to enable popups for the court site).
Montgomery County PRO V2

Temporary custody had been denied. Also Cheryl was going to have to pay her husband spousal support retroactive to October 1st.

Possibly reason(s) for Cheryl to take off.

Who was denied temporary custody- Cheryl? I wonder why she had to pay him spousal support? That doesn't make any sense! I can't imagine her just up and leaving her daughters, though. If they were both adults, maybe, but even then, she seemed so close to the both of them.

If she did leave on her own, how is she surviving financially? No car, no personal belongings, no phone. I would think that if she took out extra money from the bank, they would say so.

However there is an order vacating an temporary order from October 6th but there is no such order on the docket. There is the one from the 16th of October ordering support to her husband. Maybe a typo. Maybe an order not on the docket. Maybe an order meant for a different case. Who knows? I am a bit confused.

You would have to read the PDFs on the docket at the court site linked. But there is such an order. And a vacating of an order that is confusing.
Also her attorney filed a motion for a continuance of the final hearing until January due to a scheduling conflict that she had.

If you haven't checked the docket in a while: This temporary order was vacated by the court a few days later by a different magistrate and adopted by the court. They dont vacate court orders for minor issues. It has to be something provided for in Rules of Civil Procedure. I wonder if she missed the hearing. If you read all the PDFs for Cheryl everything for her was mailed to her and her atty. For William Coker it was mailed just st to him. No attorney for him or they had to send it to an atty also. On the final piece on the request for a continuance by Cheryl's atty and the vacating of the Tempirary Order for spousal support it was only sent to Cheryl's attorney and William Coker. Not to Cheryl and not an attorney for William Coker. It appears he has never hired an attorney. There is also a reason they are not mailing this to Cheryl--she's missing.

I tried opening it up, my computer won't let me unfortunately. That's why I asked- was she losing custody of her daughter? Was she told she would have to vacate their home? Why on earth did she have to pay him spousal support? This is all confusing to me.

No she was not losing her daughter. The Court Order that was vacated said no temporary custody order at that time. The support for $1,000 was for her to pay mortgage and expenses if both were living in the residence. This is the order that was vacated by the court. They were still living together according to neighbors and friends.

I am confused because the Order says that it was vacating an Order from October 6th. It could be a typo and they meant the 16th. Her husband hasn't filed a counter claim nor any motions for Temporary Orders so I was surprised to see the order in the first place. It could be a misfiled Order on the 16th (on the wrong case) and that was what was vacated from this docket. Because the Order Vacating refers to an order not on this case's docket is the source of my confusion.

I'm thinking the hearing with the first magistrate was Oct 2. And I'm also thinking she missed it. It takes a few days for it to become an order because a hearing with a magistrate has to go to the judge to review and adopt. The first temporary order being dated the 6th then makes sense. Then it takes more time for Clerk's office to receive it and date stamp it and put on the court docket. They do not however enter those mediations with magistrate on the docket. If you look at both temporary orders on the docket you will see different magistrates signatures. I would imagine the second one was with Cheryl's atty as she of course is missing

Thank you so much for all of this! Makes more sense to me now.
