I'm sorry if this has been covered...I've been reading as best I can since the case started...but since they don't believe Harley had his book bag to go to school, did they find it at home? What was left in the backpack?
Also, if Harley was planning to go away for a couple days, don't you think he would fill that backpack with clothes or some items from home that he normally keeps with him? You know how kids are. My kids always had special things they wanted to take everywhere with them.
If his parents forced him to go to school that day, wouldn't they ask questions if he didn't have his backpack when he left that Friday morning for school? These are just a few of my thoughts....
A school backpack/book bag is a good question to me. Did he have a bag with him, did he normally take a bag to school? If so, did he take it with him on Friday, like was he actually on his way to school?
My feeling, if that is in fact Harley on the surveillance camera, and did leave his house that morning, is that he did go to meet someone, as opposed to a random abduction. But you would think if that was the case, there would be messages/correspondence that could be traced/recovered on whatever system was used.
Also, if he normally went home to bathe four or five times a day, then how did no one notice him missing for 41 hours or whatever?? Wouldn't it be unusual/red flag from his normal habits to have such a major change in his routine?
When my husband and I aren't home, his 13 year old boys are supposed to text us from the iPads as soon as they walk in the door from school, even though we can tell from the keypad lock security code used and the door cam. We still expect the prompt "I'm home" message. (Or more likely it says "Can I buy a video game" ...."Oh sorry, I'm home... my messages must have been sent out of order..."
) They don't have cell phones, but they can send messages through the tablets. And then any responses from anyone also gets sent to my husband's phone. (Which half the time he doesn't realize a response was meant for the kids, not him, but that's another story.) But we can see everything they are sending and receiving.
I'm sure they are craftier than us, or will be at some point to get around it, but I'm trying to figure out how they could arrange anything without having access to an electronic device. Who could have arranged to meet Harley when he didn't have access to his cell phone - where all the "secret" communication apps could be? If he was using a video game console or something, you would think LE would be able to track/access those messages. Unless someone had somehow gotten him a burner phone and this was planned in advance? Just trying to think, I am very perplexed.
