Just a minor correction as it pertains to the local area. It is New Boston and it is where one of the Wal Marts mentioned is located.

I had a few ancestors whose families moved from England, settled in Connecticut and Groton, MA, then later moved to New Hampshire, then Canada and down to an area about half an hour north/east of Pike County. One of their ancestors (a gr-gr-grandfather) tried to steal the Crown Jewels in London. Captain Thomas Blaud (Blood).

Good morning from Pike Co. - Jake Wagner is here in the courthouse and we're expecting him to testify against his brother George in the murder trial…

Quick morning thread for Jake Wagner testimony against his brother George Wagner IV here in Pike Co massacre case. We're on 15 minute break.

They picked up right as Jake, George and Billy Wagner returned home from homicides at about 4:30 a.m. on April 22. They stripped down to underwear, threw clothes into burn area and went into house to change. Then burned clothes, surveillance hard drive and shell casings

Jake says he cut guns into pieces with a grinding tool and tried melting them with acetelyne torch but ran out of gas. So he buried parts in hole under support in new barn - George helped dig the hole.

Later he went to hospital to offer to take care of Kylie - Hanna's newborn daughter. Was told the Manleys would take her. Wagners then filed for custody of Sophia within a day. Never had to use forged documents.

Glad to see link provided for you. For future reference: I typically type in at Youtube "pike county trial live" and takes me to the correct trial for that day. Currently on Day 30. It can be confusing as there is a lot out there and looks the same.

OH v. George Wagner IV Day 30

I am in the hospital and somewhat heavily medicated and I appreciate the link and help.

I tend to think that Jake is sorry on some level over what he's done. But even if he isn't, I wonder does the thought of losing his daughter tear him up?
You think Jake is sorry for what he did? Absolutely not. He is a serial killer who's trophy is that movie clip. That is why he could not conceal his enjoyment when they played it in court yesterday.

George's attorneys knew what was in Jake's proffer, and how strongly Jake's testimony would tie George into the murders.

So what on earth could their defense be against that? What do they do? Tell the jury Jake is lying about everything he said regarding George?

They told the jury George had nothing to do with it, that he was different from his family, etc....But evidence shows George never tried to go out on his own. Jake said he wanted to see George go home so why would he lie saying things that show George is guilty? If he wanted to "save" George he would need to say George was kept out of the whole entire Conspiracy and never went along that night.

It won't work to say Jake is implicating George so he can get a good plea deal for himself. Jake didn't get a good plea deal, he got LWOP. In fact, by telling the truth, Jake keeps the DP off the table.

I think the defense should have tried to convince George to get the deal Angie got. In 26 years he could have spent his "golden" middle aged years and old age being free.

Far better than ending up being found guilty and getting LWOP.

Jake seems believable to me but I can only go by what is reported. The jury hears him and sees all his mannerisms and how he is coming across in person.

The defense could have said George went along that night for all kinds of "innocent" reasons, to minimize his involvement in that way, but I think I know why they didn't do this.

My opinion is that the defense knows if the jury thinks George went to the murder scenes, for any reasons at all, just the fact of him going is enough proof that he was involved directly with the murders.

So we have to find as many tweets as we can to see how the defense handles Jake's testimony, how they try to discredit him.

George's chance of acquittal was when he had his trial scheduled in 2019, and instead of waiving his speedy trial rights, had gone to trial. By not doing this it gave the prosecution the power to try Jake first. The prosecution knew that with Jake seeing all the evidence against him he might plead guilty to avoid the DP which is exactly what happened.
I think Canepa told Jake if he didn't give her George mommy didn't get her sweet 30 year deal. Keep in mind AC said Jake told several different versions of the story. The defense probably has them all. Rita knows the truth. That three way phone call was to set that up. Guaranteed Jake was already talking to AC when that call took place. Or did you think correction officers just suddenly had amnesia about the judges orders against them communicating?

I agree the cross-examination of Jake by GW4's defense should prove very interesting-- especially if they hope to convince jurors that Jake caved in and took up the prosecutor's theory that GW4 was active and present in the murders if they insist on going with the defense that GW4 was at home when the murders occurred.

Bad idea. IMO, they should have just gone with their client was only a bystander.

Or they may just be playing on the psyche of the jurors by saying GW4 was not at the crime scene hoping there will be at least one holdout and GW4's case declared a mistrial. Perhaps they believe after enough time passes, sentiment will be diminished over the case and they can negotiate a better deal for GW4 with the state rather than try the case again.

I shared an example earlier today of a recent Florida case I followed with 3 defendants where one of the defendants had a mistrial because jurors were not unanimous about sending a woman that never stepped foot on the crime scene to prison for life which is the automatic sentence in Florida for Murder-1. Juror sympathy for GW4 can be very powerful. MOO

The only evidence against George is Jake.

You are a star! Thank you. Maybe I should go and give her opening statement another hearing.

Here is an auto generated transcript of it. Some words are off, but you can tell what it was supposed to be. I've referenced this trying to see how it lines up with testimony before. I just Control F to search the document and find Angela's name or whatever I am looking for.

Stay w/ #WLWT for complete coverage of #GeorgeWagner's murder trial in connex. to the 2016 #PikeCountyMassacre. I'm heading into the courtroom to notate what Jake Wagner has to say during his second day of testimony. Jake has opted out of being filmed.... I'll update when I can.

Jurors in #GeorgeWagner's murder trial are on their first break of the day. Jake Wagner will resume testifying shortly. So far, he's given more testimony linking his brother George to the 2016 #PikeCountyMassacre. #WLWT

Jake said that on the morning after he helped kill 8 members of the Rhoden family, his (Jake's) demeanor was: "shockful, mournful-ish".. (Jake's words in court, under oath).

RECALL: Jake Wagner confessed to the role he played in the #PikeCountyMassacre on the crime's 5th anniversary.

Jake Wagner testified that he told the daughter he had w/ victim Hanna May Rhoden about the murders a "week or two" after they'd been committed. Jake said yesterday concerns about his child's well-bing prompted the #PikeCountyMassacre.

Jake testified that he, his brother George and their dad, Billy Wagner, went to the funerals for all 8 of the Rhodens who were killed.

SO MANY SOBERING INSIGHTS, including this one.. Regarding murder victim Chris Rhoden Sr., Jake testified he considered Chris Sr. his "second father." Yesterday, Jake desribed opening fire on Chris Sr. the night of the #PikeCountyMassacre.

When asked why Chris Sr.' brother Kenneth Rhoden was killed, Jake Wagner said b/c Billy Wagner considered Kenneth to be a "loose cannon .. who'd do something, of some sort, to take my life as well.”

CONTRARY to what I assumed (and likely many others), Jake testified that he, George and their parents didn't talk much about the #PikeCountyMassacre (in the days after). Jake said he "could not bear to think ... of what I'd done ... without immense guilt.” 1/2

2/2 Jake said he "practically tried to erase the memory (of what happened) completely."

Only looked into the live feed for a moment as they were showing the goose box and a bucket, but it looked like there was some sort of disturbance in the gallery.

Bailiff or deputy looked back, then Parker looked back, grabbed his glasses and looked back again. At some point Nash also looked. Bailiff slid his chair back slowly, got up and made his way toward the back of the courtroom. Then I turned off the tv.
