That needle exchange program is a good thing, and not only to help stop the spread of hepatitis, but AIDS is still a big concern. But any time needles are shared, somebody could end up with a nasty sinus infection or stomach virus, or 200 plus illnesses nobody wants. I just hope it doesn't encourage more people to use than we already have.

Maybe LE will throw us another crumb in the next few days! We can hope, anyway! Out of over 700 tips, surely a name has come up more than once and that will give them a new lead or avenue to explore. Wish we would hear how the babies are doing. Two months they have probably grown and changed so much.

A link to the latest from DeWine's office regarding prosecution of numerous people on drug charges, 11 higher ups, not saying it is related but additional info on widespread drug trade in Ohio. Pickaway County which is directly north of Ross County

I don't think it will encourage use. If anything it may help them seek assistance. They are in contact with people who can provide them with support. It may be what connects them to services that will save their lives.

The sheriff will either get re elected or not depending on if he solves this case.

What's everyone's latest theory?

Intervention and treatment would be wonderful. I hope more will seek help. There are probably more people than we realize who would seek help if they knew where to turn. I think they are either ashamed to admit their problem or are afraid of being looked down upon. Maybe that stigma will disappear someday soon

I think for the most part the sheriff is doing a good job considering having to take over a job from someone who was not doing LE any good. Not an easy task. I am sure these murders will stay at the front of everyone's mind between now and election time.

Well, still reading past threads, #12 again is discussing the price of Dana's home and land. I was under the impression that it had been decided that the total amount for the home and six acres plus the additional two acres was a total of 60k, not 120k. And I think it said that he paid one-half down. Do we know for certain he paid cash? Since he did construction work, I was thinking maybe some of the down payment could have been helping someone with a new barn or garage, or maybe some remodeling. The people he bought the place from could tell the finance co he paid half down, and it wouldn't necessarily be cash. That would be an agreement between the buyer and the seller, and wouldn't be any concern of the finance co. Just a thought. Also, since this was most likely to be a long term loan, there was a credit life and disability policy added in with the note.

Being the owner of three cats y'all have me on the floor laughing!

This is my opinion only but based on many items I've read. The family seemed to be into a lot of cash businesses. I believe it was not done by the family but maybe someone who had heard about cash on hand. Maybe loose lips sunk ships.

Hope you have as much fun with your cats as I do mine. I also have three. And I have five niece and nephew kitties at my best friend's house.
Maybe you're right, maybe the youngest son did some bragging to one of his friends and the wrong person or persons overheard. People can be so sneaky it's unreal. My mom nearly got scammed a few years back. She got a phone call from someone pretending to be my youngest son. Said he was in a foreign country and got arrested and had to have $800.00. She said everything about the caller sounded just like him. She went to wire him the money and the clerk at the grocery store talked her out of sending it. Three other elderly people had been scammed, one lady for $1200.00.
She called me and I assured her he was home in Missouri, I had talked to him the day before. At least she didn't lose her money. I never found out if LE ever caught the people or not. But the caller told all four of them he was their grandson and needed money for bail in a foreign country.
We just couldn't figure out how they knew to call her or how they knew his name and even knew my kids call her granny. Nobody in our family has ever been out of the country, ever!
So I definitely believe someone could have overheard a family member or friend talking and decided to take advantage of the situation.

That's really creepy but unfortunately, it is easier to get all the info you need on people these days. Unless you live off the grid, your info is easily obtainable! I received a call from a foreigner claiming I owed in back taxes and the IRS had sent me several notifications! Now, I thought for a moment that my husband must've done something incorrectly with our taxes. What caught my attention was he basically belittled me for not forwarding my new address to the IRS and I laughed and told him the IRS new exactly where to find me as I have filed taxes many times after moving! Sadly, the elderly generation sometimes fall prey to these people that are career criminals! Jerks, to put it lightly!

I wonder how much info people get from FB Twitter, Snapchat, and all the rest of those gossip networks? Seems to me that sites like that aren't good for much of a anything but gossip and people also get on them and argue. Lots of things are inferred and if somebody got the idea that Chris had stashed big bucks at his house that could be motive for robbery and murder.
Maybe they thought if Chris had money stashed then the rest of the family did too.

I have a hard time believing that either robbery would be a motive for killing 8 people - if Chris kept large amounts of money at his house, I understand how he could wind up being killed, and maybe his wife (he was shot 9 times, with 2 in the head, and she was shot twice in the head as she slept). But then why take a chance getting caught murdering everyone else? I also do not believe there was enough Cannabis for the Cartels to get involved. No, instead, I find it ironic that in that small town, these guys could be selling right under the nose of Law Enforcement... I lived in a small town where I was a LEO, and we knew EVERYONE who was dealing - it was just a matter of catching them. I think these killings were done so incredibly well that whomever the subjects are, they clearly had a strong grasp of evidence collection, and what the Police would be looking for. Tire tracks outside? Footprints in the grass? Why did they lock the door behind them? How did they get in without anyone noticing? I get a feeling that the UnSub(S) are LEO's as well, who were involved with Cannabis distribution. LEO's would have a real hard time shooting babies - the Cartel would not. I believe Chris may have threatened to report them, and they hit back.

That's another of my theories b/c this reminds me just a bit of the true story "In Cold Blood". Truman Capote wrote the book and it was turned into a movie as well. It was a couple guys in prison who heard this farm family had lots of money hidden in their home so they set out to go steal it. The kicker is, that it is not true. There is no money. Just a made up prison story. It's a horrifying story in that it's real. These poor people were just going about their day until these two crazy people show up. Here's a bit of info on it from Murderpedia;
http://murderpedia.org/male.S/s/smith-perry-photos-1.htm

Edit: CR1 had just bought that house for 30k cash and taken out a loan for the rest. They could have went there and there was no money so they go place to place and when they get to KR's that's all that there was so they just throw it down and leave. They end up w/nothing but everyone is dead.

Another scenario to consider! Never thought about getting killed by tattling on underhanded LE. I know it happens more often than the general public thinks, but I hadn't thought about it in this case. Not too surprising, since a former LE employee is facing mega charges at this time. This entire case has been mind boggling since day one. So have the number of shots to who been released? If so, I missed that. Is there an article or video online where I can get the info?

I remember when the movie came out. I lived 64 miles south of Garden City at Liberal for 11 years. If I remember correctly, the killers got away with about $40.00? The oldest daughter was away at college and is the only living family member.

Chris Rhoden Sr. was shot 9 times, in the torso, extremities, and head.

WAVERLY, Ohio — The death certificates have been filed in Pike County for the eight people who died in the Rhoden family killings and they offer yet another peek into what went on inside those homes.

Christopher Rhoden Sr., 40, was the only one of the eight who was shot somewhere other than the head.

Rhoden's death certificate said he had "multiple gunshot wounds to the head, torso and extremity."

Not released on everyone, but we do know that CRSr was shot 9 times and not just in the head. GR shot 3 times, per his father and Has been said that KR had 1. I'm wondering myself if it has actually been confirmed by coroner that KR just had 1. I read the article but I wasn't clear if those 3 had officially been released or if it was just taken from other sources such as GR's father and DS. I believe GR's father probably knew those results as I would think that all the immediate remaining family knows who had how many. I am hoping the family remaining knows more than the public.
