I am most curious to hear the Defense claim of him going off the rails. Speaking to their version :violin:
I have a feeling that it will be something to do with his moms health got worse 2 years ago. He was concerned with her during early questioning and assuming he was her main caretaker and very protective of her. But didn't she have an in home caretaker? I thought I remember this but could've been my mind. If there was I'm surprised they weren't called to testify.

I thought she had a care taker as well Spellz. Could be one that pops in a few hrs. a week to check in on her. Judging from the pics inside that house it looked like an episode from hoarders. Maybe a care taker did not have anything to add? Seems he kept his secrets outside of the house other than viewing the *advertiser censored* perhaps?

So why would he have such rage against females. Sounds like his father which must be step was the abuser?

The sister of #jamesworleysays talks about Worley's 1990 attempted abduction., She says he told her he was trying to make sure Robin Gardner didn't leave after hitting his truck with her bicycle. No explanation of her injuries though

Worley's sister describes her brother as a child, said he was hyperactive and couldn't focus. Also mentioned that when he was older he got into fist fights

So far I haven’t seen anything that makes him “exceptional” in any way. Nothing to specifically deter me from a death sentence.

however ... a life without parole is actually much harder. No endless appeals at our expense, possible isolation?. It does have benefits over a death sentence. A family needs at least some closure, and endless appeals means they have to stay on top of where he is and what may be happening re an appeal. That seems so unfair and cruel.

Thanks everyone for the trial tweets.

This part I dont believe him at all. I think he had it backwards.

"hitting his truck with her bicycle"

More like he hit her while she was on the bicycle to prevent her from getting away.

well, he minimized his previous abduction of Robin to his sister. I'm guessing she didn't know the depth of depravity regarding Sierah's murder. He must be furious that things aren't going his way and no one is defending him, just playing old tapes of his sister which don't contain a damn thing that would explain this away or make anyone have an ounce of empathy for him.

You have that right, jashrema. I don’t have even an ounce of empathy nor sympathy.

I don’t think the sister tried to whitewash his behaviors, but am surprised she “didn’t think he was capable of killing”. But isn’t she several years different in age and may have left without much contact after that? Maybe she really did not know the extent of his meanness and perversions. The other brother may be more interesting than I had expected.

Worley's sister Cynthia Barlow attributes violent behavior possibly to love of action movies.“I think a person siting there watching this stuff night after night after night after night. It seems like they tend to absorb this stuff

I have to run out for a short time. if no one is tweeting, I will catch up as best I can when I return.

Those action movies are called *advertiser censored*! And yes, many adult men watch *advertiser censored*. But his type of *advertiser censored* was a little bit more over-the-top, if you want to call it that.

And the odds of him actually being executed any time soon don't seem great. There have been 55 people executed in Ohio since 1999. So about 3 people a year. I wonder how many are sentenced to death per year.

According to Wikipedia:

  • Mean Time from Death Sentence to Execution: 14 years, 6 months
  • Median Time from Death Sentence to Execution: 15 years, 11 months

I cannot believe juror's names are not protected. Its one reason why some people dont want to be part of juries.

I wish they would create a new law to protect the identity of jury members.

My understanding is the defense gets access to the jury member names and I have never understood why that is allowed. There has been many cases where a criminal or family member tried to threaten or hurt a jury member either before or after a trial.

In checking I found this interesting article about the health affects on jurors.

Whatever the Jury decides I support. In every case I follow I want whatever the Family wants. This crime qualifies for a DP verdict. I will be surprised if it isn't death. Aggravators far exceed any mitigating offered so far. IMO.

Was she made to further describe her term "action" movie??

Opening statements were given by both sides. prosecution called no witnesses.

the aggravating factors FAR outweigh the mitigating factors being presented. I absolutely agree with you, Bravo.

The prosecutor told the court, "Make no mistake about it. If you unanimously determine that the aggravating circumstances outweighs the mitigating factors there can be but one sentence. You must find the death penalty be imposed." .

His lawyer, Mark Berling, told the jury "What you will discover is my client is one damaged man." He said the jury would hear testimony that James Worley is an "odd man" and a "weirdo."

Gary Ericson, a mitigating (defense) specialist: reviewed JW’s birth certificate, education records, probation records and medical records. interviewed others, including the sister.

His sister did not testify due to her position with the LAPD, as a field supervisor sergeant/ traffic division. Jurors heard a 2 hour taped interview with Mr. Ericson.

Yeah well we all know folks we deem weird/odd that have not become monsters. Vague wording. Lordy!!!!
