Update from this morning: http://www.toledoblade.com/Courts/2018/03/12/James-Worley-trial-begins-Monday.html

Lauren Lindstrom@lelindstrom 4m

Since the lunch break we've heard from investigators with Fulton Co. sheriff, Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation, and FBI about early interviews with Worley. Jury heard him in his own words on recorded interviews while Sierah was missing. #Worleytrial

Thanks, embedded within this above article is a 26 minute snippet of opening statements and Josh's testimony in video.

Josh is probably feeling bad about letting Sierah go biking alone after he left her on his motorcycle- poor man...:(

Lauren Lindstrom@lelindstrom32m
More than 2 hrs of audio recordings from investigators' initial interviews w/ James Worley. He's explaining to them items he lost near where Sierah's bike was found, his locations that night, and why he has women's undergarments and a hidden freezer in his barn. #worleytrial

Lauren Lindstrom
@lelindstrom 28m
Investigators can be heard asking him why he appears more nervous when they ask about/look around the barn than the rest of his property

Lauren Lindstrom
@lelindstrom·28m
He tells them women's lingerie, which he describes as his "stash" is "girlfriend stuff," then later discusses future plans to shoot amateur *advertiser censored* with women he could contact on sites like Craigslist and Backpage. #worleytrial

We're in a five min break. Judge Robinson says there is 30 min left of interview to listen to. #Worleytrial.

In their opening statements, prosecutors said Worley had to kill the UT student because after Joughin was kidnapped, they believe Worley had to cover his tracks. Prosecutors believe there was too much evidence left inside his barn linking him to her disappearance and that's why they believe she was killed.

Here’s part of that recorded conversation:
Investigator: "Let's talk to him about the helmet."
Worley: "What about the helmet? You found the helmet?"
Investigators: "Yes"
Worley: "OK, where's the helmet at? Who has it?"
Investigator: "{inaudible} .... along the road"
Worley: "You found it along the road?"
Investigator: "I didn't find it, someone did."
Worley: "Well bring it on here because I want my helmet back."
Investigator: "Well that's why we're here mostly is because the helmet looks like it might have some blood on it."
Worley: "Uh, No. "

A bloody motorcycle helmet was one of the pieces of evidence leading investigators close to the man accused of Killing Sierah Joughin.

— SJ’s DNA found on
rope, duct tape and paper towels inside barn
— Worley's DNA found on her bike
— blunt force trauma to the head, consistent with being hit with a bike helmet

Article with short video, with testimony and visuals that were not in other articles.

As soon as the jury was seated, the state explained the evidence they plan to present that proves James Worley's guilt. This evidence includes lingerie, a bike helmet and a ball gag they say contains Sierah's DNA.

The jury saw pictures such as a sock Sierah was wearing the night she went missing. As well as a piece of lingerie, that was pictured on a model, the State says was found in a barn on Worley's property with Sierah's blood.

You will hear how she died due to mechanical asphyxiation," Fulton County Prosecutor Scott Hasselman said. "A yellow dog toy pushed down her throat, so far, tied to secure it in her mouth, put in with such force that it broke on of her teeth."

thank you! That was either added after the original post and I would have missed it; or maybe it was, but it shows a black box with “no signal” and I didn’t try it. Nice observation, dixiegirl!

Pooe Josh broke down during his testimony, :tears:

http://www.toledoblade.com/Courts/2018/03/12/James-Worley-trial-begins-Monday.html

The article has been updated for the third time with more information. (Same video)

"Worley initially told investigators that his motorcycle broke down and he alternated pushing and riding it home, where he remained for the night. He later said he left again that night in his truck to look for his lost helmet, after investigators told him he was captured on surveillance video from Evergreen High School.

Authorities questioned the purpose of a freezer, found buried under the floor of his barn and secured with a strap. BCI agent Thomas Brokamp testified that the freezer "smelled like bleach.""

That video with Josh’s testimony is heartbreaking. I am thankful there was no trial when my family went through a similar kidnapping and murder because I can’t imagine the pain of having to relive it. The lump in my throat just doesn’t compare. I am hoping and praying for strength for all of Sierah’s loved ones during this trial.

I don’t recall ever seeing/reading about those purple short things prior to today. I don’t even know what to say. I follow several trial channels on YouTube but this one is especially difficult to learn more details.

Sorry for quoting my own post. I wanted to add that the video here had a few things that were not in the article. Apparently the Defense has not cross-examined most of the witnesses today. Also, there are a few more snippets from court today in the video.

"During the statements more details were revealed about the timeline leading up to Joughin's death. This included Joughin's blood being found in the cornfield, along with clothing and an adult diaper discovered on her body. Duplicate items were discovered found on a barn on Worley's property.

"She was found wearing white tube socks, like the ones that are found in the crate in the north barn, she's wearing an adult diaper that matches the adult diaper like the ones that were found in a crate in the north barn, " said Haselman."

My heart is breaking for all the family and friends having seats in court having to listen to these horrific things that have happened. It was mentioned 24 were expected.
