I also believe that Patricia Salamandyk is in fact, BG. When you compare her sister, not only is the nose exactly the same, but so is the chin, the facial structure, eyebrows, cheeks, etc. I think it's sad that with such a strong resemblance that the RCMP has not done any real research in this regard - especially since in this case there is a living relative to make a DNA comparison to. Has anyone tried to put a bit more pressure on the Canadians in this regard?

It's ok!! I totally get not wanting to focus on a rule out, I just haven't gotten over their similarity a year later. They're the same height, their features align perfectly, scar falls in the same place... there are millions of people in this world, so it's not impossible, nor am I a forensic scientist, so I definitely am not necessarily right! I would just love to know what officially made Patricia a rule out. It's too haunting.

We know. She's been discussed many, many times. For years. She is always just so striking when she pops up in a search

It's not the first time we've had a can't-miss match turn out negative, and many matches make me go "huh? How did that fit?"

Sharon Pretorius is the BG potential that I can't forget, but she's been checked and double checked and still ruled out, the last time by DNA.

I have only ever seen one other Canadian rule-out in Namus and I'm in that database constantly. If Patricia is on it, there must be some serious proof (i.e. DNA). I've done overlays on other UIDs/MPs that have seemed exact and then they ended up ruled-out by DNA. There was a case where I even had a old picture of the UID (therefore with open eyes) and I was even able to line up eyes - they were exact. I even had retired detective convinced. I had a potential backstory and everything. Then the DNA was hand-matched and I was floored that it wasn't her. Some people just look similar and I think we just start seeing what we want to see I guess.

I guess you never know how many people look just like you until you become a Jane/John Doe. Buckskin Girl looks so unique, yet quite a lot of missing women resemble her so much, Patricia Salamandyk, Janel Peters or Lucie Gelinas just to name a few.

I was convinced at one time she was Stephanie Hunsberger ... but she was ruled out too. Due to a lot of different factors like swelling, facial muscles relaxed etc it is difficult to match a living picture with that of a person deceased.

I don't think she was, she was suggested as a potential match quite recently and I haven't seen her officially ruled out anywhere yet.

Here is a 2011 article about Pamela Exall. Within it is an email address you could send this along to. She does have DNA in am MP database, I'm in thinking in the UK? It takes a long to time to do an international comparison, though. However, in the case of BG, if the missing person has pierced ears, then it wouldn't be a match.

This DNA remains on the Missing Persons DNA Database for any future cross-referencing.
