Knox, we have a lot of newcomers to this thread and if you want to please go ahead and post some links to provide basic information about this case. I don't mind at all- this isn't my thread- it's all of yours.
I had a thread on the AMW site that went for awhile and will post a link to it shortly.
One thing I failed to mention at the time I did my post on my driveby of the crime scene earlier last month- I noticed the house next door to the north had a for sale sign. Not a lot of homes come on the market in that area. Probably means nothing.

This is really a great idea and to expand on this I wonder if anyone is good with google maps of the area and screen shots of the home and neighborhood. I am a visual person and would find it helpful but I lack in technological skills.LOL! If someone knows how to do this I would be forever grateful and will offer you a glass of lemonade! TIA

Snick ... That photo of the house spoke volumes! Now I see exactly what you met by an obstructed view of the front entrance, don't think much changed in the year between date photo was taken and the crime, cept maybe the bushes got BIGGER. Thanks for the link!

I concur although we have to wonder WHY someone would want to take out a young child.

Interesting the mother just happen to be out of town that day and it is the father who made the 5:48pm (daylight savings time) 911 call.

I'm wondering if the father or one of the older brothers who live away from home have anything to do with why this child was targeted.

The astrologers comments are on the chart you can link to. Appears to indicate this as a killing for hire with the boy as the target.

Thanks Knox! I think it is a great idea to contact a reporter. You prolly won't glean any info from them because they play it close to the vest and also will not risk tainting their relationship with LE by divulging any info they are privvy to. However, your questions will give the reporter new ideas and slants on the case that could be investigated by a good reporter.

Be sure to include a short bio of yourself and contact information!

Hi everyone! I gave our thread a 'Five Star Rating' because you all are the best!

Some of the links may be duplicates as I didn't check them out before posting. I am scheduled to volunteer at a music festival this afternoon to encourage folks to recycle their cans. I've decided my unofficial motto will be "Don't Let Your Cans Go to Waste!"

I also completely agree with you that many young girls' and boys' first sexual experience is with someone of the same sex. I also agree that Thomas appears mature for his age. Something about the sexual predator angle just feels right to me. Perhaps Thomas was having a special friendship with an older man, or he declined the advances of an older man who was then afraid he'd be 'outed'. Interviewing every adult Thomas came into contact with within the last 3-4 months before the murders would, I think, be a great HELP to LE. Most likely it would be a peripheral figure in Thomas's life...since the killer didn't know where the house was, obviously he had never been there before, or else it had been a long time since he'd been there. I'm betting on he'd never been there. Chances are it is someone the parents weren't aware of. Where did Thomas hang out after school? Where did he go on the weekends? What kind of things did he like to do? I know he was a basketball fan. Was there a particular court he played on?

You know, the sexual predator angle is a difficult subject to broach, but deserves exploration now that it has been addressed. I feel it would be an injustice to Tom and Shirlee if we avoided sleuthing these difficult scenarios.

The peripheral figure seems so right, IMO.......for some reason, someone, perhaps had a fixation on young Tom for some reason....but why?

Ok. Here is case that broke here locally just this past week. A middle school teacher in this county resigned in December. She was under investigation from the school system due to a few complaints that were filed against her. She resigned before the investigation was complete and secured a job in a neighboring county. Because the investigation was incomplete and nothing was proven, the school system had no concrete evidence of wrongdoing, so she received favorable references from this system in order to secure her new position. However, just last week, she was arrested after being found in an automobile having , ahem, congress with a 15 year old boy who was a student at the previous school (here in this county) where she was employeed. Clearly, she and this student had a relationship that was tempting enough for her to drive from another county and risk ruining her professional career. People move on, but it doesn't necessarily mean that they forget.. Maybe this perp felt threatened by Tom!
