Another reference to 9am being the last time seen.

http://www.oregonlive.com/portland/index.ssf/2010/06/kyron_horman_search_may_have_s.html

Once notified, Multnomah County authorities responded swiftly, but crucial hours already had been lost, Sheriff Dan Staton said.

"This is what is hugely disturbing to me," he told The Oregonian on Saturday. "The fact that you had a child in school and the last time the child was seen is at 9 in the morning -- there are concerns about that lag time. If the child had walked away from the school, the likelihood of finding him under those circumstances would have been extremely high.

I have been looking at Google maps That place seems to rural and too out there in the country for no one to have seen something. I wish they would give us some idea of what they know. This whole thing makes no sense.

The sheriff's office said no one at the school saw Kyron after 8:45 a.m. Friday and that Kyron never made it to his classroom.

This was in a CNN article earlier this week...no way of knowing if the rep from sheriff's office mispoke or if this is something interesting. I don't like CNN as a rule, but who knows...

To be quite honest (when my son was in public school), and he was absent they would call to make sure he was home, which is fine with me. BUT.. then they ask me WHY??? They really want to know why he was home. I am sorry, but, he is MY child, he is home with me and it is NONE of your business WHY he is home.

I understand the importance of the call, but geezzz ... he IS my child. ( Canada-Public School) adn IF I feel his sickness is going to spread to others, I will alert the school for them to watch the other children or notify the other parents...

He was out of school for 10 days in a row one time ( on prednisone) , they called EVERY DAY... and asked me WHY EVERY DAY!!!!!!

Ok,, I am done my ranting :)

United States Statistics - Missing Children Statistics

- A child goes missing every 40 seconds in the U.S. - over 2,100 per day

- 800,000 children go missing each year

- 50% are 4 to 11 years old

This just makes me sick.

I read a few days ago that 1/10th of 1% are stranger abductions.

Where can I find photos of him for my FaceBook page ?

Just heard a news blurb on the TV here about how most of the search teams have been heading home. Man, that bums me out.

Where I live, we have an attendance policy. If children are missing too many days of school. we want to know why.

I have parents that slept till noon ( as I like to myself). That's not an excuse that is acceptable.

Not sending a child to school for a good reason can bring charges of child abuse if you can add them to other things. Believe me, when you know a child is being abused, as a teacher you are looking for those things that will finally tip the threshold so something will be done!

I did not call my families if they said the child was really sick every day. I would skip a day.

But, after this, I think parents should be called everyday.

I'm not saying that you are an abusive parent. Not at all. I think that after this incident, one would be happy for a school that is so attentive to the students.

Heres is an example of an incident where there was a perfect storm scenario. In this case, the security was lax, a door was unlocked, and in broad daylight, in the morning, a creep just waltzed into an elementary school and scooped up a boy and molested him in the school bathrom and then walked out. Fortunately they caught him and he is now serving jail time. But thats how easy and fast something like this can happen. I believe he was only caught, because the victim is alive and could provide detailed information to allow for more investigative work to take place.

I heard that in WA at the 5 o'clock newscast that the search for Kyron was over and it was now a criminal investigation. I mean, I knew it was coming, but my hope was holding out.... :(

That is not so. LE stated quite clearly and definitively that the last time Kyron was seen was at 9am. They stated clearly and definitely that the last place Kyron was seen was at the south entrance door.

The no comment was solely on by whom he had been seen that last time.

I've put all the press conference raw videos in Kyron's media thread. I realize that's a lot to watch. You can also use advanced search on my name to pull up the quote on the 9am last seen time, as well as the south entrance door last seen place.

HTH

I have heard 3 different times as the last time Kyron was seen.
1. 8:45 by the SM
2. 9am at the south entrance by a student
3. Sometime before students returned to class after touring SF and he was missed at the head count.

The only one that I heard LE confiming was 8:45 by the SM. This is all so confusing.

Also, I have a huge question about when class really started on that day. Some people are saying 10am. That does not make sense to me. I cannot see any parent leaving their child (that young) at a school without leaving them under the immediate care of a teacher.

So, if class didn't start until 10, why in the world would the SM just leave him at the school for over an hour???? School normally starts at 8:45am.

So, my questions start with was he just to roam around until class started?

Did he report to class and toured the SF with 5 other classmates and then went missing?

And, if he was seen at 9am by the south entrance, who saw him and what were they both doing out of class 15 minutes after the bell rang?

Very very strange that we cannot get any straight answers as to confirmed times and confirmed sightings of Kyron in the school.

All of this has probably been already discussed, but i just don't have the time to go thru all the posts. Sorry to all, i am New here...........

My next question is that would Mult. County ask TES to come? With 22 local agencies that have already searched for 10 days, is that still a possibility?

Thank you so much; that's been bugging me all day long.

Also, I found 17 photos at: http://tiny.cc/8s9hs
(It's http://www.kptv.com/slideshow/23822528/detail.html?taf=ptl1 )

But I can't for the life of me figure out a way to copy them!
I got them downloaded, but it put them into a pdf file or something. Not jpegs. Anyone know how to get these photos ?

I even looked at the Sheriff's website and couldn't find them, even though that's where they originally came from according to the article.

LE confirmed he was seen at 9 a.m. they just won't confirm where in the school he was seen or who saw him.

Gates said a source at the school saw him around 9 a.m. Friday, but declined to provide details.

News just said that authorities are now offering a reward.

I wonder if the perp could turn out to be a Facebook friend of a parent (bio or step) or a different family member. I hope they are able to investigate who accessed profiles (obviously prior to the case) because if somebody wanted to take Kyron, they were probably able to learn about a lot of things out based on wall posts and photos. The SM obviously already demonstrated some naivety with FB as I'm sure she didn't realize a nation would look her up and criticize her over a public wall post. I also noticed another relative had frequent word misspellings and left their profile public even though it referenced some personal issues. I dont use FB much, and I clean and delete things weekly. I dont think people understand how public their facebook profile became as Facebook made "modifications" to its default settings. ...Or wonder if somebody accepted a ''friend' request from a perp/sex offender because of a game like mafia wars. At one point I had a profile with over 500 friends (none of which i knew) ...maybe that 'friend' was then able to read and figure out everything going on.

I also wondered if this is why SM's FB account was not made private sooner.

Yeah, last I heard was $25,000. I should have posted those links earlier!!! At 5 our time! I just assumed everyone here had the info already ... :(

Those are made into a .swf file for the slideshow. It's like mini-movie.

You can download pics from the CBS site (50 plus)
