The last day of school at Skyline according to their website is Tuesday. LE may just feel that tonight was the last logical night to be able to get a good percentage of the school together. The weekend would not be good due to summer activities, and many families may be leaving early for vacations etc. and not even be planning on having their kids at school next week.

I was very frustrated the other day when I saw that the Springfield school district doesn't call parents about absentee students until after 6PM at night and I posted that here.

I'm happy to post this tonight about the schools in the Bend area:

Bend-La Pine Schools Update Student Safety Efforts
Automated System to Call Parents Being Tested at Five Schools

I hope that the school districts all over the country pay attention to what's happening over here!

nothing on Fox 12 news about a meeting "whenever" for parents at Skyline..??

Hi Free, I think it will be on Channel 6, KOIN at 11pm {1/2 hour away}. They will also talk about the technology that has been brought in to help in their search. xox

okay so that was a total tease job from Seattle.

lol my poor friend!

news was: searched all day, continue searching tomorrow.

and a retired teacher was interviewed to say how much Kyron reminded him of his students.

:banghead::banghead::banghead:

sowwy all. :(

we shall wait for 11 pm Portland news, I guess.
Relief! Thanks for posting this!

I think it was posted the teaser for the school meeting was on Koin. I was hoping Fox would pick it up and report on it.

Does Koin broadcast live at 11?

I wonder if LE asked the media to keep the school meeting reporting to a minimum until they can do their press conference tomorrow?

Huh? Where did this come from? Wasn't it the stepmom who had the appt, if there was an appt in the equation?

No one knows if there was an appt. LE refuses to comment on it. But I think most people *advertiser censored**med that the appt was for him.

But there is NO CONFIRMATION of this. NONE. I was just commenting on why no one thought it was strange that he wasn't in school.

As a former teacher, I think it is very strange that no one thought anything about him being absent.

I am just talking about possible scenarios that would explain it. This is a very small school, so it should stand out. One teacher per grade and some specialists.

That was the initial ground search he was hoping to wrap up by this weekend.

Are you doubting my synapses? :p

I still think it's weird that he set almost a deadline. I'll go back and watch the presser. Do you remember which day it was that he said that? Was it Tuesday? Noon or Four?

Thanks!

maybe when the chief said "wrap it up this week" - he meant his team had determined their complete S&R plan, complete with National Guard & helis, and would carry it out thoroughly for the week, then call it quits. At which point they'd announce the case as an abduction/missing/endangered active investigation and move all resources into that investigative mode and off S&R and off school premises.

brain still on. getting dim in here though....

I'm trying to find something online about the meeting. KOIN's website doesn't mention it yet, neither do the other local websites or my Twitter feed (follow some news people).

That's it. C'mon guys - how many times in the past so many cases have we actually heard of the FBI going house to house - or even doing any house searches (other than the family home)?

The only one that directly comes to mind is Jessica Lunsford (and the "not paying attention" cops).

This along with these pressers where they are asking for water and food for the searchers - showing how bad the conditions are - how thick the brush is .............and yet they say nothing about it now being 6 - 7 days that he could be "out there" and voicing concern for his well-being - needing food and especially water.

LE thinks someone has him. And that someone is probably someone from that school (hence the meeting tomorrow). And IMO its not some homeless "creep". Its someone that no one would ever suspect or even think they are capable of this.

They did house-to-house searching in the Lindsey Baum case along the street where she disappeared. And they did searching in the area, but I don't remember it being so extensively out in the wild like this one. I think they believed she was taken for sure and didn't really suspect that she wandered off. I guess I don't understand how searching in the thick brush would indicate they think someone has him.

People keep mentioning that he could be in the school. At this point-well, if you have ever have had a mouse that died in your house.....

No, I don't think that there is anyway that he is in that school.

Our school here doesn't notify either until after 6(w/recording)...it's always bothered me, and when I asked a few years ago about it, I was told that it would take too long to call every parent...when my kids get on the school bus, I've worried about not knowing about it til it was too late.

Just to add to your information~The FBI went door to door also with Kayleah Wilson's recent case...

I'm mostly trying to lurk on this case... mainly because I can't come close to keeping up, and also because there's so little hard information to go on that I'm uncomfortable commenting... but wanted to offer a tiny point of info on this bit. :)

Sun-sensitive eyeglasses won't get darker in the car, much to my chagrin. They're activated by a type of light that is filtered out by the car windows -- the same reason a person won't generally won't get a sunburn in the car, no matter how long they're sitting in it with the sun on them. It's a bummer for those of us who have to wear glasses and operate motor vehicles during the day. So: the kid in the white car doesn't have darkened glasses on, but it doesn't mean they aren't the transition-type lenses, and that alone isn't a reason to eliminate Kyron as the kid in the white car, though there may be other good reasons. :twocents:

Back to lurking for me. As with everyone else, I'm hoping for Kyron's speedy and safe return to his family.

Thanks for the info. I didn't know some transitions don't darken in the car. I'm b=new to glasses and have "Drivewear" lenses and they do darken when driving. I guess I didn't really think about why they're called "Drivewear."

I've just got this itchy feeling it is someone who works at Intel who Kyron has seen before, maybe has a child in the same school. Or else someone tied to that electrical project. That was the last thing we know that Kyle said to anyone, right? He was headed for that exhibit, then seen outside the south door of the school. I think this is the most likely possibility and they know who the person is, probably lives down by Hwy 30.

Or else it is someone at that horse farm Kyron's dad wanted searched, where the 'high lines' are.

Both good possibilities I think and IMO. xox

I'm pretty sure that it was either the Monday or Tuesday press conf. when he said "wrap it up by the weekend."

And then, boom, he announces that he's requested SAR assistance from all over the state.

Just odd. And it's getting dim in the cavern atop my neck, too. But I'm sometimes as accurate as a stopped watch.

The house searching and the brush searching are disconcerting, I feel.

I don't think a perp would be hauling a child through thick brush. Too much chance of being caught, I would think.

So that indicates doing a lost child search.

The house to house search indicates a taken child, to me.

A poster on here said that there are some very ramshackle houses around the school. Houses filled with junk in the yard and inside indicate issues.

Not necessarily child kidnapper issues, but issues. To me, it's a red flag.

Not that whack jobs don't come from lovely looking homes as well. But, junked up houses have issues for sure. And I don't mean houses that aren't maintained. I mean junk in the yards. Junk inside.
