really interesting video at the above link.

From the link:

Ian Kullgren's tweet: "I talked to Ryan Bundy on the phone again. He said they're willing to kill and be killed if necessary. #OregonUnderAttack"

Pretty frightening.

IMO, they ought to at least restrict access to and from. No food, no supplies. No children being brought in to visit dad on his crusade. How DANGEROUS! :(

Just starve them out. And when they build a fire, send a chopper over with water to douse it.

Any other group who did this would be already blown to smithereenies.

From what I can tell the building they are occupying is small, and as much as I would like to see the feds and local LE go in and take it back it is maybe best to take the time and make a plan. It is a building surrounded by wilderness. Allowing them to stay there is maybe keeping it in a safe location away from surrounding towns.

These are some crazy people, and there is no telling what they will do if they are run off the property IMO.

IMO, LEO cannot go in guns abllazing. Especially if tthere is the possiblity of children being there. Can you even imagine the outcry? They (LEO) knows these guys have weapons and aren't afraid to use them. It is prudent they don't just go in without some kind of plan and it seems as though these milittia people have people coming in annd out and who knows who they're in touch with on tthe outside. It's a tactical nightmare.

I agree. Cut electricity, water, etc and block access. And withdraw the cameras.

Some months back a cousin I had not heard from in years sent me a Facebook invitation. When I went to her FB page I saw she belonged to a FB group 'I stand with Cliven Bundy'. Also noted other stuff that told me she was off the deep end on insurrectionist stuff. I declined her invitation, she possibly wondered why, I am sad she didn't ask. Maybe I should have told her but to tell the truth I was afraid to. These people are seriously nuts.

I had to wonder what the hell she thinks is so wrong with this country? She had a good education, paid in part with federal grants, works as a counselor in a school system and from outward appearances is living a successful life. And she thinks the government is her mortal enemy and it needs to be overthrown. I must be missing something..

Interesting.
http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/...us-building-in-oregon-after-protest/78226600/

"The Oregon sheriff whose county is at the heart of an anti-government call-to-arms said Sunday the group occupying a national wildlife refuge came to town under false pretenses.

Sheriff David Ward said protesters came to Harney County, in southeastern Oregon, "claiming to be part of militia groups supporting local ranchers." In reality, he said, "these men had alternative motives to attempt to overthrow the county and federal government in hopes to spark a movement across the United States.”"

Pundits, politicians, propaganda, and conspiracy theories. But I'm not sure how they first take hold. I've seen it in my family and for one reason or another certain people are more vulnerable than others.

I've seen it in my family also. One is mentally ill and I've had to completely cut him out of my life. He's just too dangerous. Former military too. It's sad, but I had to.

I agree the area needs to be cordoned off. It doesn't sound like it's going to end well, but there's no point in giving into them either. I wish there was a way to get the children out safely. What a mess.

I don't believe you understand the arson event and they purchase those allotments to graze public land. They have been encroached upon by the Government reneging on the purchases.

The arson was a grass fire that got into "public" lands from their land and they served their sentence. then a Judge decided they didn't serve enough years ago and ordered them back to jail for more sentencing.

It is you who does not understand the events. 1. Cliven Bundy has graze his cattle on public lands for 20 years without paying one cent. Then when government employees tried to round up his cows on public land that he was not paying for, he got a bunch of armed t h u g s to chase them away. Meanwhile a 12 year old black boy in Cleveland got his brains blown out by cops because he was playing with a toy gun.

2. Steven Hammond set the arson fire to cover up his illegal poaching on public lands. The penalty for that is a mandatory five year sentence. He has not served that sentence. He will turn himself in tomorrow, to begin serving that sentence.

Armed group's leader in federal building:'We will be here as long as it takes'

This is just childish, like he's a little kid playing war... except he's a grown up and he and his people have grown up weapons.

He declined to say how many people were with him, telling CNN on Sunday that giving that information might jeopardize "operational security."

To be fair, it has been done in other circumstances, some of which were much less threatening to LE or public safety.

But I agree, it was not the right thing to do then, nor is it now. Not until the children are safely out of range. I do wonder why this "protest" is being treated differently, though.

Can someone break it down for me Barney style? They're upset that someone was convicted for arson, so they took over a wildlife refuge in protest.

Are there employees of that refuge IN that building at this time? ETA: Just saw the above post, disregard question :P

Yes, to the first part. No to the second part.

And he is a law-breaking criminal and has made overt threats to LE and the Federal Government. Terrorism. And yet.........

At the very least I don't understand why, apparently, people are being allowed in and out. Seems that law enforcement could stop that, at least. To cut off any supplies.
SABBM

Exactly. And couldn't they flash some annoying bright lights at night, like they did during the siege against the terrorists at the Waco standoff ?
Take away their comfort zone.
Every action taken at Waco was just that -- merely an annoyance -- until the Branch Davidians escalated it.

I agree about maybe allowing them to 'hole up' at an isolated location, away from the community --but why allow these "Patriots" to get comfortable ?
:moo:

RSBM

Strange this isn't headline news... anywhere.
Where are CNN, ABC, etc.?
Why so quiet ?
IMO
