I had figured that it was an ordinary dog leash



At one end the chain looped through the handle makes a noose, then looped over a beam a couple of times the clip end is a straightforwardly clipped onto itself. Sorry to be so horribly graphic. Of course the leash they are talking about may be different.

I was trying to imagine how this could be done and it took me a moment or two to work it out. I can't believe an 8 year old would work it out for themselves. With chairs as well and counter balancing body weight. It really doesn't make sense that a child would do this. Its foul play.

So without seeing the rumours, I'm wondering if the dog was neglected and died, or was given away to hide the neglect or maybe the boy let it loose because it was starving?

I also want to comment on his xbox use. There is absolutely bullying that goes on with online gaming. Who knows what he might have been told to do and how to do it. These are my thoughts without seeing "outside" stuff lol

ETA: Maybe police want to hold her on neglect of the dog until this gets figured out?

Bullying can be horrible in school when no one stops it. I have seen bullies of all ages. You can be bullied for your looks, for your clothes, for your social skills, for your sports skills, for your family's situation, for the amount of money you have or don't have. You can be bullied for your academic skills, whether you have difficulty or are very bright. You can be bullied for your book bag, for your shoes. You can be bullied for the way you speak, for the lunch you bring to school. And then you finally go home, and you can be bullied on the cell and on the computer. Constant bullying. When you have a strong school administration that supports it's teachers 100%, you can shut it down. Many teachers are reprimanded or written up for doing their best to stop it unfortunately. So I do believe an eight year old can be horribly horribly bullied. We have seen online suicides of schoolchildren. We have so many school shootings, some IMO from bullying. So many very young people today are light years ahead of us when we were their age due to the Internet. The days when parents were allowed to be an active part of their children's school during the school day are over for the most part. And unfortunately, a parent can do their best but they cannot help their children stay innocent like before IMOO.

Another strange thought or vibe I got was that maybe if the son did threaten it before, that the mom was "less shocked" as she would have been had he never said it before, and she told the 911 operators as a way to "ease" their shock? Weird thinking, I know lol

Also, sorry for more than the 2 cents. We had a local boy hang himself from a tree. I volunteered for the ambulance. I was not on call. I remember thinking, I might have collapsed if it was on my run. It NEVER occurred to me that I would have to respond to this kind of event. I just thought I would be racing people to the hospital or helping accident victims. These are rare occurrences and I would never assume how anyone would handle it IMOO. I recently had a student EMT find such a victim and I worry for him so much to process this as the first one on the scene. It is traumatizing beyond words..

Sept 23, 2019

On Sept. 23, shortly after 2:30 p.m.[?], State police received a call reporting 8-year-old Conner Snyder and his sister, 4-year-old Brinley Snyder, were found by their mother unresponsive in the basement of their home on the 2400 block of Route 143.

Medics arrived at the scene a few minutes later and found the siblings in the basement hanging about three feet apart from a single wired cable with plastic coating and ends containing swivel eye snap hooks, according to the affidavit.

The wire was wrapped around the main support beam in the basement and each end of the wire was wrapped around the childrens' necks. Medics also found two dining room chairs that were knocked over and next to the children.

ETA: Reported time call received per NBC/10 may conflict with other reports -- but no correction ever issued by NBC.

Mom couldn’t leave eight and four- year olds alone, so who did she leave them with? If she was home, how did she miss the noise of kids taking dining chairs to the basement?

If my kids were running around making noise moving furniture around, I wouldn’t think twice. It would seem like a normal day.

I think it's instinctual if you see somebody hanging -- let alone your babies-- you first try to cut them down!

I can guarantee you that is your first instinct.

I just can't wrap my head around the 8 yr old being able to pull this off, and get his baby sister to be compliant and cooperative. Is anyone saying this 8 yr old was a young genius of some kind?

I could believe he could manage to hang himself, but the little sister and the balance thing? I don't see it happening.


Nor can I see this mother hanging her two young children like this. Her 911 call is troublesome, but I think she is covering for someone else, not herself as the killer, imo.

Plastic coated dog tethers as described here (double swivel latch) are typically sold by recommended strength and/or capacity.

I believe LE are in possession of the cable used by the children, and may be trying to confirm where the cable came from. Trying to determine if this was the same cable used outside by the alleged 50# dog, or a new, different cable possibly purchased by Conner or somebody else.

Knowing the weight of alleged dog may also be necessary to help confirm statements made to investigators. MOO

We used to have a double leash, which had the hooks at both ends. It was for walking both dogs at once, holding one leash.
And it probably would have worked well, if it wasn't one German Shepherd and one Chihuahua, who would walk under and around the Shepherd and get them constantly tangled up...

I just hope to God that Conner's friends and classmates didn't have to be interviewed by LE because of the bullying claims. If "we're" making these claims, then I think it's fair to mention that some people are making claims that those of the mother aren't true and that Conner was actually pretty popular at school. And about the toys... Jesus Christ, I could never.

I don't know that there is even a hint of another party yet in the public domain.
I read reports of mothers doing terrible things to children all the time.
Motherhood does not confer beatification...
It's not the way it's meant to be , I know but there's nothing so strange as folks...
But the story has not yet unfolded...

Yes! And by location, style, age of residence, I wouldn't be surprised if this unfinished basement doubled as the laundry room and play room for the kids.

No normal parent would do that. In fact few insane parents would probably leave their kids there.
