Glad the family is able to bring him home with them but sad to learn it's under these circumstances. Hoping they get the answers as to what happened to him.

ID was confirmed so quickly because DJ's wallet was still in his pocket. (source: WPXI TV report)

DJ's mother indicated that DJ (paraphrased) "does not do drugs, runs bikes, watches what he eats, he does drink alcohol but he wasn't as drunk as people think". She believes DJ did not end up in the river by choice.

What kind of information, if any, can they retrieve from a phone with water damage? I'll be interested to see if it was still in the pocket they saw him put it in on video.

We'll see but for some reason I do not think they will find the cell moo

I think it was Grindr related and that person would know to take the phone jmo

Speculation, I think this is gonna play out like he has not been in the river the whole time like Joey

Careful cleaning might do the trick, worst case they'd have to remove memory chips and install them in a functional phone or in a circuit designed to extract data. I doubt they'd go that far in this case.

LE may not, but I think the family will stop at nothing to discover what happened to DJ. Perhaps having the phone in their possession (if it in fact was recovered) will help them find the answers they are looking for...with any luck.

I wonder how he just disappeared...or do the police know something...I told my son I want him to stay away from concerts for a while.

To many people are ending up in the river.

MOO but I don't think the police do know anything. Mainly because they have been pointing to him being found in the river since day 1. They know these young men are typically found there, but they don't seem to be concerned much for the WHY. All moo, but I think a lot would agree.

So, with the outcome being what it is...do we think that different apps and the phone company will now release any information/passwords that they have and/or grant access to his accounts? Is that something that can now happen?
