Good news too late. But maybe it will help someone else.

"..98 percent of the city’s surveillance cameras are working properly. That is a significant improvement from September, when 60 percent of the cameras were working."

A question to ponder - was this just talk or was data/evidence presented in the interview to prove there is only a 2% maintenance defect rate with the city's surveillance cameras?

Ok I am only doing this to share. It totally makes sense that heterosexuals do not know how our lives work. This is nationwide. I typed it in and this machine knows where I live so it gave me this!

Irrelevant so I am not searching more .

But IMO it can be helpful in this case and Joey to see how it works

Anywhere in the world, when you go on vacation you can find places to crusie , you can find out what flavor are there etc etc

In the old days in was a giant book you bought. It was global all over the world

Yes i'm sure there are specialised events for people in the gay community, and we have so much more info. now available instantly with computers.

IMO, it doesn't matter what the autopsy results say if the family isn't going to accept it.

I think they know and like you said they wont accept it. So the family will never allow the news to release it.

Notice how quiet it is now???

<mod snip>

The cameras were purchased with $2.5M grant from Dept of Homeland Security and $862K from the city of PGH. As you can see, not much taxpayer money there. From what I've heard and read the James family is hoping to help the city expand the cameras on the bridges and riverbank in addition to repairing the ones that are broken. That is what the find raising is for.

Don't be so disparaging on this family because they want to have some good come out of all this grief. They made a commitment during their last press conference and they are trying to keep it. We should applaud them for their efforts.

They don't know the results yet. The mother has stated many times that they want all results to be back before they meet with the ME. Call me crazy, but I believe them.

Think maybe it's quiet because they are waiting and grieving? If course, IMO.

So, the mystery we're left with is how and where he entered the water. We will probably never know. I feel awful for his family.

In the medical examiner's ruling, there is no indication of how James is believed to have ended up in the river.

James' father: "It's not often you want to hear your son was the victim of foul play but we were hoping for that so it would lead to a bigger and better investigation and not end where all the others end."

Results of the toxicology tests have not been released nor have the reasons for determining the drowning an accident.

That makes some wonder if DJ's alcohol level is what the ME focused on in his determination of "accidental", with the determination DJ was walking by himself on his way home and, due to intoxication ended up in the river under his own power... no signs of foul play.

The family refuses to accept the ME's ruling. Their reasoning could be such a ruling closes the case and leaves them with no answers as to how / why DJ ended up in the river. The family likely believes if the ME had ruled "undetermined" or "foul play" the investigation would have continued and they would perhaps get the answers they're looking for. Understandable, but unrealistic at this point.

I believe this is the most interesting information we learn from the article:

bbm

James' father: "He's been across that bridge and down that alley a million times. Nothing I saw on that video or heard from police or people who were with him that night lead me to believe he was not going to make it home that night."

Many 'burghers are left with questions regarding the surveillance cameras scattered throughout the city and associated networking and recording equipment. Are all now up and functional or will we have another mystery should someone else go missing in downtown Pittsburgh?

I knew it... this was not a murder. Very sad ending for a young life though.

It's not over. But let's just say the COD is correct, which I believe it is not, but for arguments sake let's assume it is. So now that so many men have fallen into the waterways and accidentally drowned, what is PGH authorities doing about that? Its definitely a serious safety issue at this point. When there are too many accidents leading to many injuries and deaths in a particular intersection the road commission installs a new stop light or stop sign as a safety precaution. Now that there has been 12+ men drowned accidentally, what precautions is the city going to provide?

The family had contacted Forensic Pathologist Cyril Wecht some time ago and has now agreed to review the DJ case. He will review autopsy reports, photos, test results and police reports.

No word on a time frame, as we would expect. Stay tuned.

Dakota James, whose body was found in the Ohio River, died from accidental drowning, the medical examiner said Thursday.
I just saw COD for Dakota was released and came "running" (figuratively speaking), I just started a new job so I haven't been around WS as much as usual. I'm not surprised regarding the ruling... But come on. I knew what that article was going to say before I even clicked it. Grrr.

Keep it up guys :-)
