It's not entirely clear when the schizophrenia was diagnosed. Some schizophrenics don't show signs of the illness until later in life.

I believe schizophrenia in men is most likely to emerge between the late teens and mid 20s, but does anyone know what is the youngest age it emerges by?

Something is bugging the heck out of me....

If my child is in jail on a $1,000,000 bond it is because of some SERIOUS stuff...not for the theft of a candy bar at 7-11.

If my child got kicked out of school for being confrontational and argumentative....

.....if my child had an ATV accident that left them with some "mental issues"......

......if my child had 30 "contacts with police" in the past 5-6 years......

.....if my child was a POI/suspect in the disappearance of 4 young men......

I don't care how much I love my child, I could not with a clear mind bail them out of jail.

It bothers me that I am questioning the motive of the parents bailing him out as they did; to the tune of $100,000 no less.

[bbm]

oh boy, looks like I have a lot to catch up on today
shoulda called in sick hehe

Cd may have been on steroids and drugs and much of what we think we know about him may be untrue since he has said many untrue things such as being a dentist.

Also, I wonder if he got some or all of the missing 4 drugged out... timelines are off still and trying to figure out what happened in the meanwhile.

Sounds like DA was at GJ recently... potential updates coming tonight?

Nvm--found this in article above.

http://abcnews.go.com/amp/US/person-interest-disappearances-pennsylvania-men/story?id=48617312

For some reason, I can't get the section to copy, but earlier in the article, it states that police have been dealing with him since he was 14, and that there were notes in the reports that he suffered from mental health issues. This sounds like he was having these problems befor the ATV accident..(.Not that they couldn't have worsened afterwards)

Schizophrenia is a very tricky form of mental illness, and sometimes does not show up until a person reaches adulthood. But the accident that damaged his frontal lobe, does seem to have impacted CD, and it makes sense that it would exacerbate any pre-existing mental health issues.

It was about 7 months ago. There does seem to have been a transformation in his personality following the crash (he was apparently injured and out of doors for a day and 1/2 before he found help.) But there does seem to be some history of mental illness prior to this event, as well. It's not entirely clear when the schizophrenia was diagnosed. Some schizophrenics don't show signs of the illness until later in life.

The severity of his illness may only have made itself known, recently. His family may have been caught off guard, and were only just beginning to understand what they were dealing with.

The mental illness could have been there for a few years, and a traumatic brain injury/surgery coupled with synthetic marijuana use and maybe he stopped taking his meds? Many things could have contributed to the personality change recently. We just don't know yet.

I'm thinking with his head injuries he had to be on heavy pain meds and such. Oxy and so on and maybe developed an addiction. Then when taken off used street drugs etc to feed that addiction. Maybe.

I love this guy! When asked why he cancelled presser, he said there was a lot of work to be done and time was better spent doing that rather than addressing the press.

Having people in my life who are bi-polar, I can only speak to that condition, but often people with these conditions, though troubled, are still very lovable. They can often be exceptionally intelligent. And caring.

But then the disease sets in. And having seen people I love flip out, when I wasn't prepared for it, you simply do not know what to do. Most of us are not trained to deal with serious mental health issues.

And schizophrenia is often not apparent in the early years of someone's life. It can appear to pop up out of nowhere. The ATV injury may have taken his illness to a whole new and unexpected place. His parents know him as an infant, a toddler, he is of their flesh. They may have believed there were things they could still do to help him have a healthy normal life--he is very young.

I doubt that in their wildest dreams they ever saw this coming.

And just imagine bailing your kid out, knowing that your property is being searched by LE for the bodies of 4 missing men, and your son is a POI. If that was me, I'd save the money and wait to see what happens. They didn't think the authorities were just going to lock him up again?
